John 14
1 “Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God. Believe also in me.
Euer Herz lasse sich nicht ängstigen, trauet auf Gott, trauet auf mich.
2 In my Father’s house are many homes. If it weren’t so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you.
In meines Vaters Hause sind viele Wohnungen; hätte ich euch, wenn dem nicht so wäre, gesagt, daß ich hingehe euch eine Stätte zu bereiten?
3 If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will receive you to myself; that where I am, you may be there also.
Und wenn ich hingegangen bin, und euch die Stätte bereitet habe, komme ich wieder und werde euch mitnehmen zu mir, damit wo ich bin, auch ihr seid.
4 You know where I go, and you know the way.”
Und wohin ich gehe, ihr wisset den Weg.
5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going. How can we know the way?”
Sagt Thomas zu ihm: Herr, wir wissen nicht, wo du hingehst, wie sollen wir den Weg wissen?
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.
Sagt zu ihm Jesus: Ich bin der Weg und die Wahrheit und das Leben; niemand kommt zum Vater außer durch mich.
7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on, you know him and have seen him.”
Wenn ihr mich erkannt hättet, würdet ihr auch meinen Vater kennen; so erkennet ihn von nun an, ihr habt ihn ja gesehen.
8 Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.”
Sagt Philippus zu ihm: Herr, zeige uns den Vater, so sind wir zufrieden.
9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you such a long time, and do you not know me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father. How do you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
Sagt Jesus zu ihm: so lange Zeit bin ich bei euch, und du hast mich nicht erkannt, Philippus? Der mich gesehen hat, der hat den Vater gesehen. Wie magst du sagen: zeige uns den Vater?
10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I tell you, I speak not from myself; but the Father who lives in me does his works.
Glaubst du nicht, daß ich im Vater, und der Vater in mir ist? Die Worte, die ich zu euch spreche, rede ich nicht von mir selbst. Der Vater, der in mir wohnt, wirkt seine Werke.
11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me; or else believe me for the very works’ sake.
Glaubet mir, daß ich im Vater und der Vater in mir. Wo nicht, so glaubet eben um der Werke willen.
12 Most certainly I tell you, he who believes in me, the works that I do, he will do also; and he will do greater works than these, because I am going to my Father.
Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch, wer an mich glaubt, der wird selbst auch Werke thun, wie ich sie thue. Ja er wird noch größere als diese thun: denn ich gehe hin zum Vater,
13 Whatever you will ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
und was ihr dann bitten werdet in meinem Namen, das werde ich bewirken, damit der Vater im Sohne verherrlicht werde;
14 If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it.
sobald ihr mich um etwas bitten werdet, werde ich es bewirken.
15 If you love me, keep my commandments.
Wenn ihr mich liebt, so werdet ihr meine Gebote halten;
16 I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever: (aiōn g165)
dann werde ich den Vater bitten, und er wird euch einen anderen Fürsprecher geben, daß er bei euch sei in Ewigkeit: (aiōn g165)
17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world can’t receive, for it doesn’t see him and doesn’t know him. You know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
den Geist der Wahrheit, welchen die Welt nicht empfangen kann, weil sie ihn nicht schaut und erkennt. Ihr erkennt ihn, denn bei euch wohnt er und in euch wird er sein.
18 I will not leave you orphans. I will come to you.
Ich will euch nicht Waisen lassen, ich komme zu euch.
19 Yet a little while, and the world will see me no more; but you will see me. Because I live, you will live also.
Noch um ein kleines und die Welt schaut mich nicht mehr: ihr aber schauet mich, denn ich lebe und ihr werdet leben.
20 In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.
An jenem Tage werdet ihr erkennen, daß ich im Vater und ihr in mir und ich in euch.
21 One who has my commandments and keeps them, that person is one who loves me. One who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and will reveal myself to him.”
Wer meine Gebote hat und hält sie, der ist es, der mich liebt. Wer aber mich liebt, der wird von meinem Vater geliebt werden, und ich werde ihn lieben, und werde ihm erscheinen.
22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, what has happened that you are about to reveal yourself to us, and not to the world?”
Sagt zu ihm Judas, nicht der Iskariote: Herr, was ist der Grund, daß du uns erscheinen willst, und der Welt nicht?
23 Jesus answered him, “If a man loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
Antwortete Jesus und sagte zu ihm: wenn einer mich liebt, wird er mein Wort halten, und mein Vater wird ihn lieben, und wir werden zu ihm kommen, und Wohnung bei ihm machen.
24 He who doesn’t love me doesn’t keep my words. The word which you hear isn’t mine, but the Father’s who sent me.
Der mich nicht liebt, hält meine Worte nicht, und doch ist das Wort, das ihr hört, nicht mein, sondern des Vaters, der mich gesandt hat.
25 “I have said these things to you while still living with you.
Das habe ich zu euch geredet, in der Zeit meines Weilens bei euch.
26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you.
Der Fürsprecher aber, der heilige Geist, den der Vater auf meinen Namen senden wird, der wird euch über alles unterrichten und euch an alles erinnern, was ich euch gesagt habe.
27 Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, I give to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.
Frieden lasse ich euch, meinen Frieden gebe ich euch; nicht Gaben, wie sie die Welt gibt, gebe ich euch. Euer Herz lasse sich nicht ängstigen, es verzage nicht.
28 You heard how I told you, ‘I am going away, and I will come back to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced because I said ‘I am going to my Father;’ for the Father is greater than I.
Ihr habt gehört, daß ich euch gesagt habe: ich gehe hin, und: ich komme zu euch. Wenn ihr mich liebtet, so würdet ihr euch freuen, daß ich zum Vater gehe, weil der Vater größer ist als ich.
29 Now I have told you before it happens so that when it happens, you may believe.
Und nun habe ich es euch gesagt, ehe es geschieht, damit ihr glaubet, wenn es geschieht.
30 I will no more speak much with you, for the prince of the world comes, and he has nothing in me.
Ich werde nicht mehr viel mit euch reden, denn es kommt der Herrscher der Welt. Zwar hat er kein Recht an mich,
31 But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father commanded me, even so I do. Arise, let’s go from here.
aber die Welt soll erkennen, daß ich den Vater liebe, und nach dem Auftrag, den mir mein Vater gegeben, handle. Stehet auf, lasset uns fort von hier gehen.
