John 13
1 Now before the feast of the Passover, Jesus, knowing that his time had come that he would depart from this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.
૧હવે પાસ્ખાપર્વ અગાઉ પોતાનો આ દુનિયામાંથી પિતાની પાસે જવાનો સમય આવ્યો છે એ જાણીને ઈસુએ દુનિયામાંનાં પોતાના લોક, જેઓનાં ઉપર તેઓ પ્રેમ રાખતા હતા, તેઓ પર અંત સુધી પ્રેમ રાખ્યો.
2 During supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him,
૨તેઓ જમતા હતા તેવામાં, શેતાને તો અગાઉથી સિમોનના દીકરા યહૂદા ઇશ્કારિયોતના મનમાં તેમને પરસ્વાધીન કરવાનો વિચાર મૂક્યો હતો.
3 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he came from God and was going to God,
૩ઈસુએ જાણ્યું કે પિતાએ સઘળી વસ્તુઓ તેમના હાથમાં આપી છે, અને તે ઈશ્વરની પાસેથી આવ્યો છે અને ઈશ્વરની પાસે જાય છે.
4 arose from supper, and laid aside his outer garments. He took a towel and wrapped a towel around his waist.
૪ઈસુ ભોજન સ્થળ પરથી ઊભા થયા અને પોતાનો ઝભ્ભો ઉતાર્યો; પછી તેમણે રૂમાલ લઈને પોતાની કમરે બાંધ્યો.
5 Then he poured water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.
૫ત્યાર બાદ વાસણમાં પાણી લઈને, શિષ્યોના પગ ધોવા તથા જે રૂમાલ પોતાની કમરે બાંધ્યો હતો તેનાથી લૂંછવા લાગ્યા.
6 Then he came to Simon Peter. He said to him, “Lord, do you wash my feet?”
૬એ પ્રમાણે કરતા કરતા તે સિમોન પિતરની પાસે આવ્યા. ત્યારે સિમોને કહ્યું કે, ‘પ્રભુ, શું તમે મારા પગ ધૂઓ છો?’”
7 Jesus answered him, “You don’t know what I am doing now, but you will understand later.”
૭ઈસુએ તેને કહ્યું કે, ‘હું જે કરું છું, તે તું હમણાં જાણતો નથી; પણ હવે પછી તું સમજશે.’”
8 Peter said to him, “You will never wash my feet!” Jesus answered him, “If I don’t wash you, you have no part with me.” (aiōn g165)
૮પિતર તેમને કહે છે કે, ‘હું કદી તમને મારા પગ ધોવા દઈશ નહિ.’ ઈસુએ તેને કહ્યું કે, ‘જો હું તને ન ધોઉં તો મારી સાથે તારે કંઈ લાગભાગ નથી.’” (aiōn g165)
9 Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!”
૯સિમોન પિતર તેને કહે છે કે, ‘પ્રભુ, એકલા મારા પગ જ નહિ, પણ મારા હાથ તથા મુખ પણ ધૂઓ.’”
10 Jesus said to him, “Someone who has bathed only needs to have his feet washed, but is completely clean. You are clean, but not all of you.”
૧૦ઈસુ તેને કહે છે, ‘જેણે સ્નાન કર્યું છે, તેના પગ સિવાય બીજું કંઈ ધોવાની અગત્ય નથી, તે પૂરો શુદ્ધ છે; તમે શુદ્ધ છો, પણ બધા નહિ.
11 For he knew him who would betray him; therefore he said, “You are not all clean.”
૧૧કેમ કે પોતાને પરસ્વાધીન કરનારને જાણતા હતા; માટે તેમણે કહ્યું કે, ‘તમે બધા શુદ્ધ નથી.’”
12 So when he had washed their feet, put his outer garment back on, and sat down again, he said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you?
૧૨એ પ્રમાણે તેઓના પગ ધોઈ રહ્યા પછી તેમણે પોતાનાં વસ્ત્રો પહેર્યા અને પાછા જમવા બેસીને તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘મેં તમને શું કર્યું છે, તે તમે સમજો છો?’”
13 You call me, ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord.’ You say so correctly, for so I am.
૧૩તમે મને ગુરુ તથા પ્રભુ કહો છો, અને તમે સાચું જ કહો છો, કેમ કે હું એ જ છું.’”
14 If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.
૧૪એ માટે મેં પ્રભુએ તથા ગુરુએ જો તમારા પગ ધોયા, તો તમારે પણ એકબીજાના પગ ધોવા જોઈએ.
15 For I have given you an example, that you should also do as I have done to you.
૧૫કેમ કે જેવું મેં તમને કર્યું, તેવું તમે પણ કરો, એ માટે મેં તમને નમુનો આપ્યો છે.
16 Most certainly I tell you, a servant is not greater than his lord, neither is one who is sent greater than he who sent him.
૧૬હું તમને નિશ્ચે કહું છું કે, ‘નોકર પોતાના શેઠ કરતાં મોટો નથી; અને જે મોકલાયેલો છે તે પોતાના મોકલનાર કરતાં મોટો નથી.’”
17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.
૧૭જો તમે એ બાબતો જાણીને તેઓનું અનુકરણ કરો, તો તમે આશીર્વાદિત છો.
18 I don’t speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen; but that the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘He who eats bread with me has lifted up his heel against me.’
૧૮હું તમારા સઘળાં સંબંધી નથી કહેતો; જેઓને મેં પસંદ કર્યા છે તેઓને હું જાણું છું; એ લખેલું પૂરું થાય માટે એમ થવું જોઈએ ‘પણ જે મારી સાથે રોટલી ખાય છે, તેણે મારી વિરુદ્ધ પોતાની લાત ઉગામી છે.’”
19 From now on, I tell you before it happens, that when it happens, you may believe that I am he.
૧૯એ બીના બન્યા પહેલાં હું તમને કહું છું એ માટે કે, ‘જયારે એ બાબત થાય, ત્યારે તમે વિશ્વાસ કરો, કે હું તે છું.’”
20 Most certainly I tell you, he who receives whomever I send, receives me; and he who receives me, receives him who sent me.”
૨૦નિશ્ચે હું તમને કહું છું કે, ‘જે કોઈને હું મોકલું છું તેનો અંગીકાર જે કરે છે, તે મારો અંગીકાર કરે છે; અને જે મારો અંગીકાર કરે છે તે મને મોકલનારનો અંગીકાર કરે છે.
21 When Jesus had said this, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, “Most certainly I tell you that one of you will betray me.”
૨૧એમ કહ્યાં પછી ઈસુ આત્મામાં વ્યાકુળ થયા; અને ગંભીરતાથી કહ્યું કે, હું તમને નિશ્ચે કહું છું કે, ‘તમારામાંનો એક મને પરસ્વાધીન કરશે.
22 The disciples looked at one another, perplexed about whom he spoke.
૨૨તે કોને વિષે બોલે છે એ સંબંધી શિષ્યોએ આશ્ચર્યથી એકબીજા તરફ જોયું.
23 One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was at the table, leaning against Jesus’ chest.
૨૩હવે જમણ સમયે તેમના શિષ્યોમાંનો એક, જેનાં પર ઈસુ પ્રેમ રાખતા હતા, તે ઈસુની છાતીએ અઢેલીને બેઠો હતો.
24 Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, and said to him, “Tell us who it is of whom he speaks.”
૨૪સિમોન પિતર તેને ઇશારો કરીને કહે છે કે, ‘તેઓ કોનાં વિષે બોલે છે, તે અમને કહે.’”
25 He, leaning back, as he was, on Jesus’ chest, asked him, “Lord, who is it?”
૨૫ત્યારે તે જેમ ઈસુની છાતીએ અઢેલીને બેઠો હતો, તેમ ને તેમ જ તેમને પૂછે છે કે, ‘પ્રભુ, તે કોણ છે?’”
26 Jesus therefore answered, “It is he to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it.” So when he had dipped the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot.
૨૬ઈસુ કહે છે કે, ‘હું કોળિયો બોળીને જેને આપીશ, તે જ તે છે.’ પછી તેઓ કોળિયો લઈને તે સિમોન ઇશ્કારિયોતના દીકરા યહૂદાને આપે છે.
27 After the piece of bread, then Satan entered into him. Then Jesus said to him, “What you do, do quickly.”
૨૭અને કોળિયો લીધા પછી તેનામાં શેતાન આવ્યો, માટે ઈસુ તેને કહે છે કે, ‘જે તું કરવાનો છે, તે જલદી કર.’”
28 Now nobody at the table knew why he said this to him.
૨૮હવે તેમણે તેને શા માટે એ કહ્યું એ જમવા બેઠેલાઓમાંથી કોઈ સમજ્યો નહિ.
29 For some thought, because Judas had the money box, that Jesus said to him, “Buy what things we need for the feast,” or that he should give something to the poor.
૨૯કેમ કે કેટલાકે એમ ધાર્યું કે, યહૂદાની પાસે થેલી છે તેથી ઈસુએ તેને કહ્યું કે, પર્વને માટે આપણને જેની અગત્ય છે તે ખરીદવાને અથવા ગરીબોને કંઈ આપવાનું કહ્યું.
30 Therefore having received that morsel, he went out immediately. It was night.
૩૦ત્યારે કોળિયો લઈને તે તરત બહાર ગયો; અને તે સમયે રાત હતી.
31 When he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man has been glorified, and God has been glorified in him.
૩૧જયારે તે બહાર ગયો, ત્યારે ઈસુ કહે છે કે, ‘હવે માણસનો દીકરો મહિમાવાન થયો છે, તેનામાં ઈશ્વર મહિમાવાન થયા છે.
32 If God has been glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and he will glorify him immediately.
૩૨ઈશ્વર તેને પોતામાં મહિમાવાન કરશે અને તેને વહેલો મહિમાવાન કરશે.
33 Little children, I will be with you a little while longer. You will seek me, and as I said to the Jews, ‘Where I am going, you can’t come,’ so now I tell you.
૩૩ઓ નાનાં બાળકો, હવે પછી થોડા સમય સુધી હું તમારી સાથે છું; તમે મને શોધશો.’ જેમ મેં યહૂદીઓને કહ્યું હતું કે, ‘જ્યાં હું જાઉં છું ત્યાં તમે આવી શકતા નથી, તેમ હું હમણાં તમને પણ કહું છું.
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also love one another.
૩૪‘હું તમને નવી આજ્ઞા આપું છું, કે તમે એકબીજા પર પ્રેમ રાખો,
35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
૩૫જો એકબીજા પર તમે પ્રેમ રાખો તો તેથી સર્વ માણસો જાણશે કે તમે મારા શિષ્યો છો.
36 Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus answered, “Where I am going, you can’t follow now, but you will follow afterwards.”
૩૬સિમોન પિતર તેમને કહે છે કે, ‘પ્રભુ, તમે ક્યાં જાઓ છો? ઈસુએ કહ્યું, ‘જ્યાં હું જાઉં છું, ત્યાં તું હમણાં મારી પાછળ આવી શકતો નથી; પણ પછી મારી પાછળ આવીશ.
37 Peter said to him, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.”
૩૭પિતર તેમને કહે છે કે, ‘પ્રભુ, હું હમણાં જ તમારી પાછળ કેમ આવી શકતો નથી? તમારે માટે હું મારો જીવ પણ આપીશ.
38 Jesus answered him, “Will you lay down your life for me? Most certainly I tell you, the rooster won’t crow until you have denied me three times.
૩૮ઈસુ કહે છે કે, ‘શું તું મારે માટે તારો જીવ આપશે?’ હું તને નિશ્ચે કહું છું કે, “મરઘો બોલ્યા અગાઉ તું ત્રણ વાર મારો નકાર કરશે.’”
