Job 18

1 Then Bildad the Shuhite answered,

Então Bildade, o suíta, respondeu, dizendo:

2 “How long will you hunt for words? Consider, and afterwards we will speak.

Quando é que dareis fim às palavras? Prestai atenção, e então falaremos.

3 Why are we counted as animals, which have become unclean in your sight?

Por que somos considerados animais, e tolos em vossos olhos?

4 You who tear yourself in your anger, will the earth be forsaken for you? Or will the rock be removed out of its place?

Ó tu, que despedaças tua alma com tua ira; será a terra abandonada por tua causa, e será movida a rocha de seu lugar?

5 “Yes, the light of the wicked will be put out. The spark of his fire won’t shine.

Na verdade, a luz dos perverso se apagará, e a faísca de seu fogo não brilhará.

6 The light will be dark in his tent. His lamp above him will be put out.

A luz se escurecerá em sua tenda, e sua lâmpada sobre ele se apagará.

7 The steps of his strength will be shortened. His own counsel will cast him down.

Os seus passos fortes serão encurtados, e seu [próprio] intento o derrubará.

8 For he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he wanders into its mesh.

Pois será lançado à rede pelos seus [próprios] pés, e sobre fios enredados andará.

9 A snare will take him by the heel. A trap will catch him.

Laço o pegará pelo calcanhar; a armadilha o prenderá.

10 A noose is hidden for him in the ground, a trap for him on the path.

Uma corda lhe está escondida debaixo da terra, e uma armadilha para ele está no caminho.

11 Terrors will make him afraid on every side, and will chase him at his heels.

Assombros o espantarão ao redor, e o farão correr por onde seus passos forem.

12 His strength will be famished. Calamity will be ready at his side.

Sua força se tornará em fome, e a perdição está pronta ao seu lado.

13 The members of his body will be devoured. The firstborn of death will devour his members.

Partes de sua pele serão consumidas; o primogênito da morte devorará os membros de seu corpo.

14 He will be rooted out of the security of his tent. He will be brought to the king of terrors.

Será arrancado de sua tenda em que confiava, e será levado ao rei dos assombros.

15 There will dwell in his tent that which is none of his. Sulfur will be scattered on his habitation.

Em sua tenda morará o que não é seu; enxofre se espalhará sobre a sua morada.

16 His roots will be dried up beneath. His branch will be cut off above.

Por debaixo suas raízes se secarão, e por cima seus ramos serão cortados.

17 His memory will perish from the earth. He will have no name in the street.

Sua memória perecerá da terra, e não terá nome pelas ruas.

18 He will be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world.

Será lançado da luz para as trevas, e expulso será do mundo.

19 He will have neither son nor grandson among his people, nor any remaining where he lived.

Não terá filho nem neto entre seu povo, nem sobrevivente em suas moradas.

20 Those who come after will be astonished at his day, as those who went before were frightened.

Os do ocidente se espantarão com o seu dia, e os do oriente ficarão horrorizados.

21 Surely such are the dwellings of the unrighteous. This is the place of him who doesn’t know God.”

Assim são as moradas do perverso, e este é o lugar [daquele que] não reconhece a Deus.
