Hebrews 2
1 Therefore we ought to pay greater attention to the things that were heard, lest perhaps we drift away.
Então, devemos prestar mais atenção ao que aprendemos, para não nos afastarmos do que realmente importa.
2 For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just penalty,
Se a mensagem que os anjos trouxeram era digna de confiança, e cada pecado e ato de desobediência trazem a sua própria consequência,
3 how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation—which at the first having been spoken through the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard,
como iremos escapar se não ficarmos atentos a tão grande salvação? Primeiro, o Senhor a anunciou e, depois, houve a sua confirmação para nós, por meio dos que a ouviram.
4 God also testifying with them, both by signs and wonders, by various works of power, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to his own will?
Deus também a demonstrou por meio de sinais e de milagres, por atos que mostram o seu poder e pelos dons que o Espírito Santo deu aos que escolheu.
5 For he didn’t subject the world to come, of which we speak, to angels.
Os responsáveis pelo mundo que está por vir, sobre o qual falamos, não são os anjos.
6 But one has somewhere testified, saying, “What is man, that you think of him? Or the son of man, that you care for him?
Mas, como já foi dito: “O que são os seres humanos, para que se importe com eles? O que é um filho do homem, para que se preocupe com ele?
7 You made him a little lower than the angels. You crowned him with glory and honor.
Você o colocou abaixo dos anjos, o coroou com glória e honra e, então, toda a sua criação ficou sob o domínio dele.
8 You have put all things in subjection under his feet.” For in that he subjected all things to him, he left nothing that is not subject to him. But now we don’t yet see all things subjected to him.
Você deu a ele autoridade sobre tudo.” Nada ficou de fora quando Deus deu a ele essa autoridade. No entanto, nós vemos que nem tudo ainda está sujeito a sua autoridade.
9 But we see him who has been made a little lower than the angels, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that by the grace of God he should taste of death for everyone.
Mas, vemos Jesus colocado em uma posição um pouco inferior à dos anjos e, por meio do sofrimento da morte, foi coroado com glória e honra. Pela graça de Deus, Jesus morreu por todos nós.
10 For it became him, for whom are all things and through whom are all things, in bringing many children to glory, to make the author of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
Foi apropriado que Deus, que cria e mantém tudo, ao trazer muitos dos seus filhos à glória, preparasse totalmente, por meio do sofrimento, aquele que os levaria à salvação.
11 For both he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one, for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brothers,
Pois tanto aquele que torna as pessoas puras, quanto aqueles que são purificados pertencem à mesma família. É por isso que ele não tem dúvida de chamá-los “irmãos”,
12 saying, “I will declare your name to my brothers. Among the congregation I will sing your praise.”
ao dizer: “Eu irei anunciar o seu nome para os meus irmãos. Eu irei louvá-lo entre o seu povo, quando eles se reunirem.”
13 Again, “I will put my trust in him.” Again, “Behold, here I am with the children whom God has given me.”
E também: “Eu confiarei nele” e: “Aqui estou eu junto com os filhos que Deus me deu.”
14 Since then the children have shared in flesh and blood, he also himself in the same way partook of the same, that through death he might bring to nothing him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
Pelos filhos serem de carne e sangue, ele também participou da natureza humana deles. Assim, por meio da sua morte, ele pode destruir aquele que tem o poder de matar, ou seja, o diabo,
15 and might deliver all of them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
e também de libertar todos aqueles que, por causa do medo da morte, tinham sido escravizados por toda a vida.
16 For most certainly, he doesn’t give help to angels, but he gives help to the offspring of Abraham.
É claro que não é com os anjos que ele está preocupado; ele está preocupado com os descendentes de Abraão.
17 Therefore he was obligated in all things to be made like his brothers, that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make atonement for the sins of the people.
É por isso que era necessário para ele ser semelhante aos seus irmãos em tudo, pois, dessa maneira, ele poderia se tornar um grande sacerdote misericordioso e fiel com relação a Deus, para perdoar os pecados do seu povo.
18 For in that he himself has suffered being tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.
E por ele ter sofrido, quando foi tentado, agora é capaz de ajudar aqueles que também passam pela tentação.
