< Hebrews 11 >

1 Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, proof of things not seen.
Amantiin waan abdannu tokko dhugumaan ni taʼa jennee fudhachuu dha; waan ijaan hin argine tokko immoo qabatamaadha jennee heduu dha.
2 For by this, the elders obtained approval.
Jaarsoliifis kanaan dhugaa baʼameetii.
3 By faith we understand that the universe has been framed by the word of God, so that what is seen has not been made out of things which are visible. (aiōn g165)
Addunyaawwan akka ajaja Waaqaatiin uumaman, wanni mulʼatus akka waan mulʼatu irraa hin hojjetamin nu amantiidhaan hubanna. (aiōn g165)
4 By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he had testimony given to him that he was righteous, God testifying with respect to his gifts; and through it he, being dead, still speaks.
Abeel amantiidhaan aarsaa isa Qaayin dhiʼeesse caalu Waaqaaf dhiʼeesse. Inni yommuu Waaqni waaʼee kennaa isaa dhugaa baʼameefitti nama qajeelaa taʼuun isaa amantiidhaan dhugaa baʼameef. Abeel duʼu iyyuu hamma ammaatti amantiidhaan dubbachaa jira.
5 By faith Enoch was taken away, so that he wouldn’t see death, and he was not found, because God translated him. For he has had testimony given to him that before his translation he had been well pleasing to God.
Henook akka duʼa hin argineef amantiidhaan fudhatame; waan Waaqni isa fudhateef inni hin argamne. Inni utuu hin fudhatamin dura akka nama Waaqa gammachiiseetti dhugaa baʼameefii tureetii.
6 Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him.
Amantiidhaan malee Waaqa gammachiisuun hin dandaʼamu; sababiin isaas namni gara isaa dhufu kam iyyuu akka inni jiruu fi akka inni warra isa barbaadaniif gatii kennu amanuu qaba.
7 By faith Noah, being warned about things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared a ship for the saving of his house, through which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.
Nohi waaʼee waan amma illee ijaan hin argaminii Waaqni isa akeekkachiifnaan sodaatee warra mana isaa jiraatan oolfachuuf jedhee amantiin doonii tolche. Amantii isaatiinis addunyaatti mure; dhaaltu qajeelummaa amantiin argamuus taʼe.
8 By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out to the place which he was to receive for an inheritance. He went out, not knowing where he went.
Abrahaam gara iddoo dhaaluuf jiruu akka dhaqu yommuu waamametti, amantiidhaan ajajame; eessa akka dhaqu iyyuu utuu hin beekin kaʼee deeme.
9 By faith he lived as an alien in the land of promise, as in a land not his own, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise.
Innis akka keessummaa biyya ormaa jiruutti biyya isaaf waadaa galame sana keessa amantiidhaan qubate; akkuma warra isa wajjin waadaadhuma sana dhaalan, akkuma Yisihaaqii fi Yaaqoob dunkaana keessa jiraate.
10 For he was looking for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
Inni magaalaa hundee qabdu kan Waaqni ijaaree fi tolche eeggachaa tureetii.
11 By faith even Sarah herself received power to conceive, and she bore a child when she was past age, since she counted him faithful who had promised.
Saaraan yoo umurii daʼumsaa dabartee, dhabduu turte illee isheen waan Waaqa waadaa isheef gale sana amanamaa gootee fudhatteef, amantiidhaan mucaa daʼu dandeesse.
12 Therefore as many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as innumerable as the sand which is by the sea shore, were fathered by one man, and him as good as dead.
Kanaaf namicha akka waan duʼeetti ilaalamu tokkicha kana irraa sanyiin akka urjii samii baayʼattuu fi akka cirracha qarqara galaanaa kan hin lakkaaʼamne dhalate.
13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them and embraced them from afar, and having confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
Namoonni kunneen hundinuu utuu waan waadaa galameef sana hin argatin amantii isaanii immoo utuu hin dhiisin duʼan. Waadaa sanas fagootti ilaalanii simatan. Isaanis lafa irratti akka keessummootaa fi godaantota turan beekaniiru.
14 For those who say such things make it clear that they are seeking a country of their own.
Warri waan akkasii jedhan kunneen akka biyya ofii isaanii eeggachaa jiran mulʼisu.
15 If indeed they had been thinking of that country from which they went out, they would have had enough time to return.
Isaan utuu waaʼee biyya keessaa baʼan sanaa yaadaa turanii silaa, biyya isaaniitti deebiʼuuf carraa ni argatu turan.
16 But now they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.
Qooda kanaa isaan biyya wayyu tokko jechuunis biyya samii irraa sana hawwaa turan. Kanaafuu Waaqayyo Waaqa isaanii jedhamee waamamuutti hin qaanaʼu; inni magaalaa isaaniif qopheesseeraatii.
17 By faith, Abraham, being tested, offered up Isaac. Yes, he who had gladly received the promises was offering up his only born son,
Abrahaam yeroo Waaqni isa qoretti amantiidhaan Yisihaaqin aarsaadhaaf dhiʼeesse. Isuma waadaa argate sanatu ilma isaa tokkicha aarsaa godhee dhiʼeessuuf qophaaʼe;
18 to whom it was said, “Your offspring will be accounted as from Isaac,”
innis isuma Waaqni, “Sanyiin kee Yisihaaqiin siif waamama” jedheen sana.
19 concluding that God is able to raise up even from the dead. Figuratively speaking, he also did receive him back from the dead.
Abrahaam akka Waaqni warra duʼan keessaa nama kaasuu dandaʼu illee hubatee ture; kunis karaa tokkoon inni ilma isaa Yisihaaqin warra duʼan keessaa deebisee argate jechuu dha.
20 By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau, even concerning things to come.
Yisihaaq amantiidhaan waan dhufuuf jiru irratti Yaaqoobii fi Esaawun eebbise.
21 By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff.
Yaaqoob yeroo duʼetti amantiidhaan ilmaan Yoosef tokko tokkoon eebbise; mataa ulee isaatti irkatees sagade.
22 By faith Joseph, when his end was near, made mention of the departure of the children of Israel, and gave instructions concerning his bones.
Yoosefis yeroo duʼetti amantiidhaan waaʼee Gibxi keessaa baʼuu ijoollee Israaʼel dubbate; waaʼee lafee isaas ajaja kenne.
23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment.
Yeroo Museen dhalatetti abbaa fi haati isaa mucaa miidhagaa taʼuu isaa arganii utuu labsii mootichaa hin sodaatin amantiidhaan jiʼa sadii isa dhoksan.
24 By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter,
Museen yeroo guddatetti ilma intala Faraʼoon jedhamee waamamuu amantiidhaan dide.
25 choosing rather to share ill treatment with God’s people than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a time,
Inni gammachuu cubbuutiin yeroo gabaabaaf gammaduu irra saba Waaqaa wajjin dhiphachuu filate.
26 considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he looked to the reward.
Inni waan badhaasa isaa of duratti ilaaleef, Kiristoosiif jedhee salphachuu akka qabeenya Gibxi caalaa gatii guddaa qabuutti fudhate.
27 By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
Innis utuu dheekkamsa mootichaa hin sodaatin amantiidhaan Gibxi keessaa baʼe; isa hin mulʼanne sana akka waan argeetti obsee eeggate.
28 By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of the blood, that the destroyer of the firstborn should not touch them.
Akka ergamaan hangafa ajjeesu sun hangafoota saba Israaʼel hin tuqneefis amantiidhaan akka Faasiikaan ayyaaneffamu, dhiignis akka facaafamu godhe.
29 By faith they passed through the Red Sea as on dry land. When the Egyptians tried to do so, they were swallowed up.
Sabni Israaʼel akkuma nama lafa gogaa irra deemuutti amantiin Galaana Diimaa ceʼe; warri Gibxi garuu yommuu akkuma sanatti ceʼuu yaalanitti ni liqimfaman.
30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they had been encircled for seven days.
Dallaan Yerikoo erga guyyaa torba marfamee booddee amantiidhaan jige.
31 By faith Rahab the prostitute didn’t perish with those who were disobedient, having received the spies in peace.
Sagaagaltuun Rahaab jedhamtu basaastota simachuu isheetiin amantiidhaan hafte malee warra hin amanin wajjin hin ajjeefamne.
32 What more shall I say? For the time would fail me if I told of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and the prophets—
Ani egaa kana caalaa maalin jedha ree? Waaʼee Gedewoon, waaʼee Baaraq, waaʼee Saamsoon, waaʼee Yiftaa, waaʼee Daawit, waaʼee Saamuʼeelii fi waaʼee raajotaa odeessuuf ani yeroo hin qabu;
33 who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked out righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
isaan amantiidhaan mootummoota moʼatan; murtii qajeelaa kennan; waan waadaa galame argatan; afaan leencotaa cufan;
34 quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, grew mighty in war, and caused foreign armies to flee.
amantiidhaan ibidda jabaa dhaamsan; qara goraadee jalaa baʼan; dadhabbiin isaanii jabinatti geeddarame; waraana keessatti humna argatanii loltoota diinaa ariʼan.
35 Women received their dead by resurrection. Others were tortured, not accepting their deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection.
Dubartoonnis namoonni isaanii kanneen duʼan duʼaa kaafamaniifii deebisanii fudhatan. Warri kaanis duʼaa kaʼuu wayyu argachuuf jedhanii gad dhiifamuu didanii dhiphatan.
36 Others were tried by mocking and scourging, yes, moreover by bonds and imprisonment.
Warra kaanitti ni qoosame; ni garafamanis; akkasumas foncaan hidhamanii mana hidhaatti darbataman.
37 They were stoned. They were sawn apart. They were tempted. They were slain with the sword. They went around in sheep skins and in goat skins; being destitute, afflicted, ill-treated—
Dhagaadhaanis ni tumaman; iddoo lamatti baqaqfaman; goraadeedhaan ajjeefaman. Deeguudhaan, ariʼatamuu fi dhiphachuudhaan gogaa hoolotaatii fi reʼootaa uffatanii jooran;
38 of whom the world was not worthy—wandering in deserts, mountains, caves, and the holes of the earth.
addunyaan isaaniif hin maleetii. Isaanis gammoojjii fi gaara irra, holqaa fi boolla keessa jooraa turan.
39 These all, having been commended for their faith, didn’t receive the promise,
Warri kunneen hundinuu yoo sababii amantii isaaniitiif jajaman iyyuu isaan keessaa namni tokko iyyuu waan waadaa galame sana hin arganne.
40 God having provided some better thing concerning us, so that apart from us they should not be made perfect.
Waaqni akka isaan nu qofa wajjin warra mudaa hin qabne taʼaniif duraan dursee waan nuuf wayyu argeera.
