Genesis 35

1 God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to Bethel, and live there. Make there an altar to God, who appeared to you when you fled from the face of Esau your brother.”

Y dijo Dios a Jacob: Levántate, sube a Bet-el, y está allí: y haz allí altar al Dios, que te apareció cuando huías de tu hermano Esaú.

2 Then Jacob said to his household, and to all who were with him, “Put away the foreign gods that are among you, purify yourselves, and change your garments.

Entonces Jacob dijo a su familia, y a todos los que estaban con él: Quitád los dioses ajenos que hay entre vosotros, y limpiaos, y mudád vuestros vestidos:

3 Let’s arise, and go up to Bethel. I will make there an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me on the way which I went.”

Y levantémonos, y subamos a Bet-el: y allí haré altar al Dios que me respondió en el día de mi angustia, y ha sido conmigo en el camino que he andado.

4 They gave to Jacob all the foreign gods which were in their hands, and the rings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.

Así dieron a Jacob todos los dioses ajenos que había en su poder, y los zarcillos que estaban en sus orejas; y Jacob los escondió debajo de un alcornoque, que estaba en Siquem.

5 They traveled, and a terror of God was on the cities that were around them, and they didn’t pursue the sons of Jacob.

Y partiéronse; y el terror de Dios fue sobre las ciudades que estaban en sus alrededores, y no siguieron tras los hijos de Jacob.

6 So Jacob came to Luz (that is, Bethel), which is in the land of Canaan, he and all the people who were with him.

Y vino Jacob a Luza, que era en tierra de Canaán, esta es Bet-el; él y todo el pueblo que con él estaba.

7 He built an altar there, and called the place El Beth El; because there God was revealed to him, when he fled from the face of his brother.

Y edificó allí altar, y llamó al lugar, El-bet-el; porque allí le había aparecido Dios cuando huía de su hermano.

8 Deborah, Rebekah’s nurse, died, and she was buried below Bethel under the oak; and its name was called Allon Bacuth.

Entonces murió Débora, ama de Rebeca, y fue sepultada a las raíces de Bet-el, debajo de un alcornoque; y llamó su nombre, Allón-bacut.

9 God appeared to Jacob again, when he came from Paddan Aram, and blessed him.

Y aparecióse otra vez Dios a Jacob cuando fue vuelto de Padan-aram, y bendíjole.

10 God said to him, “Your name is Jacob. Your name shall not be Jacob any more, but your name will be Israel.” He named him Israel.

Y díjole Dios: Tu nombre es Jacob, no se llamará más tu nombre Jacob, mas Israel será tu nombre: y llamó su nombre Israel.

11 God said to him, “I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply. A nation and a company of nations will be from you, and kings will come out of your body.

Y díjole Dios: Yo soy el Dios omnipotente, crece y multiplícate: gente, y compañía de gente, saldrá de ti; y reyes saldrán de tus lomos.

12 The land which I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I will give it to you, and to your offspring after you I will give the land.”

Y la tierra, que yo he dado a Abraham y a Isaac, te daré a ti; y a tu simiente después de ti daré la tierra.

13 God went up from him in the place where he spoke with him.

Y fuése de él Dios, del lugar donde había hablado con él.

14 Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he spoke with him, a pillar of stone. He poured out a drink offering on it, and poured oil on it.

Y Jacob puso un título en el lugar donde había hablado con él, un título de piedra: y derramó sobre él derramadura, y echó sobre él aceite.

15 Jacob called the name of the place where God spoke with him “Bethel”.

Y llamó Jacob el nombre de aquel lugar donde Dios había hablado con él, Bet-el.

16 They traveled from Bethel. There was still some distance to come to Ephrath, and Rachel travailed. She had hard labor.

Y partieron de Bet-el, y había aun como medía legua de tierra para venir a Efrata; y parió Raquel, y hubo trabajo en su parto.

17 When she was in hard labor, the midwife said to her, “Don’t be afraid, for now you will have another son.”

Y fue, que como hubo trabajo en su parir, díjole la partera: No temas, que aun este hijo también tendrás.

18 As her soul was departing (for she died), she named him Benoni, but his father named him Benjamin.

Y fue, que saliéndosele el alma, porque murió, llamó su nombre Ben-oni; mas su padre le llamó Ben-jamín.

19 Rachel died, and was buried on the way to Ephrath (also called Bethlehem).

Así murió Raquel; y fue sepultada en el camino de Efrata, esta es Belén.

20 Jacob set up a pillar on her grave. The same is the Pillar of Rachel’s grave to this day.

Y puso Jacob un título sobre su sepultura; este es el título de la sepultura de Raquel, hasta hoy.

21 Israel traveled, and spread his tent beyond the tower of Eder.

Y partió Israel, y tendió su tienda de la otra parte de la torre de Eder.

22 While Israel lived in that land, Reuben went and lay with Bilhah, his father’s concubine, and Israel heard of it. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve.

Y fue que morando Israel en aquella tierra, fue Rubén, y durmió con Bala la concubina de su padre: lo cual oyó Israel. Y fueron los hijos de Israel doce.

23 The sons of Leah: Reuben (Jacob’s firstborn), Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun.

Los hijos de Lia: el primogénito de Jacob, Rubén; y Simeón, y Leví, y Judá, e Isacar, y Zabulón.

24 The sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.

Los hijos de Raquel: José, y Ben-jamín.

25 The sons of Bilhah (Rachel’s servant): Dan and Naphtali.

Y los hijos de Bala, sierva de Raquel: Dan, y Neftalí.

26 The sons of Zilpah (Leah’s servant): Gad and Asher. These are the sons of Jacob, who were born to him in Paddan Aram.

Y los hijos de Zelfa, sierva de Lia: Gad, y Aser. Estos fueron los hijos de Jacob, que le nacieron en Padan-aram.

27 Jacob came to Isaac his father, to Mamre, to Kiriath Arba (which is Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac lived as foreigners.

Y vino Jacob a Isaac su padre a Mamré, ciudad de Arbee, esta es Hebrón, donde habitó Abraham e Isaac.

28 The days of Isaac were one hundred eighty years.

Y fueron los días de Isaac ciento y ochenta años.

29 Isaac gave up the spirit and died, and was gathered to his people, old and full of days. Esau and Jacob, his sons, buried him.

Y espiró Isaac y murió; y fue recogido a sus pueblos viejo, y harto de días, y sepultáronle Esaú y Jacob sus hijos.
