Galatians 3

1 Foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you not to obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was openly portrayed among you as crucified?

૧ઓ અણસમજુ ગલાતીઓ, તમારી આંખો આગળ વધસ્તંભે જડાયેલા ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્તને સાક્ષાત પ્રગટ કરવામાં આવ્યા હોવા છતાં તમને કોણે ભરમાવ્યા?

2 I just want to learn this from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith?

૨તમારી પાસેથી હું એટલું જ જાણવા ઇચ્છું છું કે, તમે નિયમશાસ્ત્રનાં કાર્યોથી પવિત્ર આત્મા પામ્યા, કે વિશ્વાસથી સુવાર્તા સાંભળવાથી પામ્યા?

3 Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now completed in the flesh?

૩શું તમે એટલા બધા અણસમજુ છો?, કે આત્મા વડે આરંભ કરીને હવે દેહ વડે સંપૂર્ણ થાઓ છો?

4 Did you suffer so many things in vain, if it is indeed in vain?

૪શું તમે એટલા બધાં સંકટ નકામાં સહ્યાં? જો કદાપિ નકામાં હોય તો.

5 He therefore who supplies the Spirit to you and does miracles among you, does he do it by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith?

૫એ માટે જે તમને પવિત્ર આત્મા આપે છે અને તમારામાં પરાક્રમી કામો કરે છે, તે શું નિયમશાસ્ત્રનાં કાર્યોને લીધે કે સુવાર્તા સાંભળીને વિશ્વાસ કરવાને લીધે કરે છે?

6 Even so, Abraham “believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness.”

૬એ પ્રમાણે ઇબ્રાહિમે ઈશ્વર પર વિશ્વાસ કર્યો અને તે ન્યાયીપણા અર્થે ગણાયો.

7 Know therefore that those who are of faith are children of Abraham.

૭માટે જાણો કે જેઓ વિશ્વાસ કરે છે, તેઓ ઇબ્રાહિમનાં દીકરા છે.

8 The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the Good News beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you all the nations will be blessed.”

૮ઈશ્વર વિશ્વાસથી બિનયહૂદીઓને ન્યાયી ઠરાવશે, તે અગાઉથી જાણીને શાસ્ત્રવચને ઇબ્રાહિમને સુવાર્તા પ્રગટ કરી કે, તારા ધ્વારા સર્વ પ્રજાઓ આશીર્વાદિત થશે.

9 So then, those who are of faith are blessed with the faithful Abraham.

૯એ માટે કે જેઓ વિશ્વાસ કરનારા છે, તેઓ વિશ્વાસુ ઇબ્રાહિમની સાથે આશીર્વાદ પામે છે.

10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse. For it is written, “Cursed is everyone who doesn’t continue in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them.”

૧૦કેમ કે જેટલાં નિયમશાસ્ત્રનાં કાર્યો કરનારા છે તેટલાં શાપ નીચે છે, કેમ કે એમ લખ્યું છે કે, ‘નિયમશાસ્ત્રના પુસ્તકમાં જે આજ્ઞાઓ લખેલી છે તે બધી જે પાલન કરતો નથી, તે શાપિત છે.’”

11 Now that no man is justified by the law before God is evident, for, “The righteous will live by faith.”

૧૧તો હવે એ સ્પષ્ટ છે કે નિયમશાસ્ત્રથી ઈશ્વરની આગળ કોઈ પણ ન્યાયી ઠરતું નથી, કેમ કે ‘ન્યાયી વિશ્વાસથી જીવશે.’”

12 The law is not of faith, but, “The man who does them will live by them.”

૧૨નિયમશાસ્ત્ર વિશ્વાસદ્વારા નથી પણ તેને બદલે, “જે કોઈ તેમાંની આજ્ઞાઓ પાળશે તે તેનાથી જીવશે.”

13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. For it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,”

૧૩ખ્રિસ્તે આપણા વતી શાપિત થઈને, નિયમશાસ્ત્રના શાપથી આપણને છોડાવી લીધા, કેમ કે લખેલું છે કે, ‘જે કોઈ ઝાડ પર ટંગાયેલો છે, તે શાપિત છે;’

14 that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

૧૪એ માટે કે ઇબ્રાહિમનો આશીર્વાદ ખ્રિસ્ત ઈસુમાં બિનયહૂદીઓને મળે અને આપણે પવિત્ર આત્મા વિષેનું વચન વિશ્વાસથી પામીએ.

15 Brothers, speaking of human terms, though it is only a man’s covenant, yet when it has been confirmed, no one makes it void or adds to it.

૧૫ભાઈઓ, હું મનુષ્યની રીત પ્રમાણે કહું છું કે, મનુષ્યના સ્થાપિત થયેલા કરારને કોઈ રદ કરતો અથવા વધારતો નથી.

16 Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his offspring. He doesn’t say, “To descendants”, as of many, but as of one, “To your offspring”, which is Christ.

૧૬હવે ઇબ્રાહિમને તથા તેનાં સંતાનને વચનો કહેવામાં આવ્યા હતાં અને તેનાં સંતાનોને જાણે ઘણાં વિષે ઈશ્વર કહેતાં નથી; પણ ‘તારા સંતાનને’, એમ એક વિષે કહે છે તે તો ખ્રિસ્ત છે.

17 Now I say this: A covenant confirmed beforehand by God in Christ, the law, which came four hundred thirty years after, does not annul, so as to make the promise of no effect.

૧૭હવે હું આ કહું છું કે, જે કરાર ઈશ્વરે ખ્રિસ્તમાં અગાઉથી નક્કી કર્યો હતો તેના વચનને ચારસો ત્રીસ વરસ પછી આવેલ નિયમશાસ્ત્ર રદ કરી શકતું નથી.

18 For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no more of promise; but God has granted it to Abraham by promise.

૧૮કેમ કે જો વારસો નિયમશાસ્ત્રથી છે, તો તે વચનથી નથી; પણ ઈશ્વરે વચનથી જ ઇબ્રાહિમને તે વારસો આપ્યો.

19 Then why is there the law? It was added because of transgressions, until the offspring should come to whom the promise has been made. It was ordained through angels by the hand of a mediator.

૧૯તો નિયમશાસ્ત્ર શા માટે હતું? જેઓને ઇબ્રાહિમનું સંતાન આપવાનું વચન આપવામાં આવ્યું હતું તેઓની પાસે તે સંતાન આવે ત્યાં સુધી નિયમશાસ્ત્ર અપરાધોને લીધે આપવામાં આવેલું હતું; અને તે મધ્યસ્થની મારફતે, સ્વર્ગદૂતો દ્વારા ફરમાવેલું હતું.

20 Now a mediator is not between one, but God is one.

૨૦હવે મધ્યસ્થ તો માત્ર એકનો મધ્યસ્થ નથી, પણ ઈશ્વર એક છે.

21 Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could make alive, most certainly righteousness would have been of the law.

૨૧ત્યારે શું નિયમશાસ્ત્ર ઈશ્વરનાં આશાવચનોથી વિરુદ્ધ છે? કદી નહિ, કેમ કે જીવન આપી શકે એવો કોઈ નિયમ જો આપવામાં આવ્યો હોત, તો નિશ્ચે નિયમશાસ્ત્રથી ન્યાયીપણું મળત.

22 But the Scripture imprisoned all things under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

૨૨પણ શાસ્ત્રવચને બધાને પાપનાં બંધનમાં જકડ્યાં, કે આપણો બચાવ ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્ત પર વિશ્વાસ કરવાથી છે તે વચન વિશ્વાસ કરનારાઓને આપવામાં આવે.

23 But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, confined for the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

૨૩પણ આ વિશ્વાસ આવ્યા અગાઉ, તે વિશ્વાસ પ્રગટ થાય ત્યાં સુધી આપણે નિયમશાસ્ત્ર દ્વારા કૈદ કરાયેલા અને બંધનમાં હતા.

24 So that the law has become our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

૨૪એમ આપણને ખ્રિસ્તની પાસે પહોંચાડવા સારુ નિયમશાસ્ત્ર આપણો બાળશિક્ષક હતું કે જેથી આપણે વિશ્વાસથી ન્યાયી ઠરીએ.

25 But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.

૨૫પણ હવે વિશ્વાસ આવ્યા પછી આપણે બાળશિક્ષકના હાથ નીચે નથી.

26 For you are all children of God, through faith in Christ Jesus.

૨૬કેમ કે તમે બધા ખ્રિસ્ત ઈસુ પરના વિશ્વાસથી ઈશ્વરના દીકરા છો.

27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

૨૭કેમ કે તમારામાંના જેટલાં ખ્રિસ્તમાં બાપ્તિસ્મા પામ્યા તેટલાંએ ખ્રિસ્તને અપનાવી લીધા.

28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

૨૮માટે હવે કોઈ યહૂદી નથી કે ગ્રીક નથી, કોઈ દાસ નથી કે સ્વતંત્ર નથી, કોઈ પુરુષ નથી કે સ્ત્રી નથી, કેમ કે તમે બધા ખ્રિસ્તમાં એક છો.

29 If you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring and heirs according to promise.

૨૯અને જો તમે ખ્રિસ્તનાં છો, તો તમે ઇબ્રાહિમનાં સંતાન અને વચન પ્રમાણે વારસ પણ છો.
