Exodus 19
1 In the third month after the children of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on that same day they came into the wilderness of Sinai.
Al tercero mes de la salida de los hijos de Israel de la tierra de Egipto, en aquel día vinieron al desierto de Sinaí.
2 When they had departed from Rephidim, and had come to the wilderness of Sinai, they encamped in the wilderness; and there Israel encamped before the mountain.
Y partieron de Rafidim, y vinieron al desierto de Sinaí, y asentaron en el desierto, y asentó allí Israel delante del monte.
3 Moses went up to God, and Yahweh called to him out of the mountain, saying, “This is what you shall tell the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:
Y Moisés subió a Dios: y Jehová le llamó desde el monte, diciendo: Así dirás a la casa de Jacob, y denunciarás a los hijos de Israel:
4 ‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings, and brought you to myself.
Vosotros visteis lo que hice a los Egipcios, y como os tomé sobre alas de águilas, y os he traído a mí.
5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, then you shall be my own possession from among all peoples; for all the earth is mine;
Ahora pues si oyendo oyereis mi voz, y guardareis mi concierto, vosotros seréis mi tesoro sobre todos los pueblos; porque mía es toda la tierra.
6 and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”
Y vosotros seréis mi reino de sacerdotes y gente santa. Estas son las palabras que dirás a los hijos de Israel.
7 Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and set before them all these words which Yahweh commanded him.
Entonces vino Moisés, y llamó a los ancianos del pueblo, y propuso en presencia de ellos todas estas palabras, que Jehová le había mandado.
8 All the people answered together, and said, “All that Yahweh has spoken we will do.” Moses reported the words of the people to Yahweh.
Y todo el pueblo respondió a una, y dijeron: Todo lo que Jehová ha dicho, haremos. Y Moisés relató las palabras del pueblo a Jehová.
9 Yahweh said to Moses, “Behold, I come to you in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you, and may also believe you forever.” Moses told the words of the people to Yahweh.
Y Jehová dijo a Moisés: He aquí, yo vengo a ti en una nube espesa, para que el pueblo oiga mientras yo hablo contigo, y también para que te crean para siempre. Y Moisés denunció las palabras del pueblo a Jehová.
10 Yahweh said to Moses, “Go to the people, and sanctify them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments,
Y Jehová dijo a Moisés: Vé al pueblo, y santifícalos hoy y mañana, y laven sus vestidos:
11 and be ready for the third day; for on the third day Yahweh will come down in the sight of all the people on Mount Sinai.
Y estén apercebidos para el tercero día; porque al tercero día Jehová descenderá a ojos de todo el pueblo sobre el monte de Sinaí.
12 You shall set bounds to the people all around, saying, ‘Be careful that you don’t go up onto the mountain, or touch its border. Whoever touches the mountain shall be surely put to death.
Y señalarás término al pueblo al rededor, diciendo: Guardáos, no subáis al monte, ni toquéis a su término: cualquiera que tocare el monte, que muera de muerte.
13 No hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned or shot through; whether it is animal or man, he shall not live.’ When the trumpet sounds long, they shall come up to the mountain.”
No le tocará mano, mas será apedreado, o asaeteado: sea animal, o sea hombre, no vivirá. En habiendo sonado luengamente el cuerno, subirán al monte.
14 Moses went down from the mountain to the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.
Y descendió Moisés del monte al pueblo, y santificó al pueblo, y lavaron sus vestidos.
15 He said to the people, “Be ready by the third day. Don’t have sexual relations with a woman.”
Y dijo al pueblo: Estád apercebidos para el tercero día: no lleguéis a mujer.
16 On the third day, when it was morning, there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain, and the sound of an exceedingly loud trumpet; and all the people who were in the camp trembled.
Y aconteció al tercero día cuando vino la mañana, que vinieron truenos y relámpagos, y grave nube sobre el monte; y un sonido de bocina muy fuerte: y estremecióse todo el pueblo que estaba en el real.
17 Moses led the people out of the camp to meet God; and they stood at the lower part of the mountain.
Y Moisés sacó del real al pueblo a recibir a Dios, y pusiéronse a lo bajo del monte.
18 All of Mount Sinai smoked, because Yahweh descended on it in fire; and its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly.
Y todo el monte de Sinaí humeaba, porque Jehová había descendido sobre él en fuego: y el humo de él subía, como el humo de un horno, y todo el monte se estremeció en gran manera.
19 When the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by a voice.
Y el sonido de la bocina iba esforzándose en gran manera: Moisés hablaba, y Dios le respondía en voz.
20 Yahweh came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain. Yahweh called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.
Y descendió Jehová sobre el monte de Sinaí, sobre la cumbre del monte, y llamó Jehová a Moisés a la cumbre del monte: Y Moisés subió.
21 Yahweh said to Moses, “Go down, warn the people, lest they break through to Yahweh to gaze, and many of them perish.
Y Jehová dijo a Moisés: Desciende, requiere al pueblo, que no derriben el término por ver a Jehová; que caerá multitud de él.
22 Let the priests also, who come near to Yahweh, sanctify themselves, lest Yahweh break out on them.”
Y también los sacerdotes que se llegan a Jehová, se santifiquen, porque Jehová no haga en ellos portillo.
23 Moses said to Yahweh, “The people can’t come up to Mount Sinai, for you warned us, saying, ‘Set bounds around the mountain, and sanctify it.’”
Y Moisés dijo a Jehová: El pueblo no podrá subir al monte de Sinaí; porque tú nos has requerido, diciendo: Señala términos al monte, y santifícalo.
24 Yahweh said to him, “Go down! You shall bring Aaron up with you, but don’t let the priests and the people break through to come up to Yahweh, lest he break out against them.”
Y Jehová le dijo: Vé, desciende, y subirás tú y Aarón contigo: mas los sacerdotes y el pueblo no derriben el término por subir a Jehová, porque no haga en ellos portillo.
25 So Moses went down to the people, and told them.
Entonces Moisés descendió al pueblo, y habló con ellos.
