Ephesians 5
1 Be therefore imitators of God, as beloved children.
Γίνεσθε λοιπόν μιμηταί του Θεού ως τέκνα αγαπητά,
2 Walk in love, even as Christ also loved us and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance.
και περιπατείτε εν αγάπη, καθώς και ο Χριστός ηγάπησεν ημάς και παρέδωκεν εαυτόν υπέρ ημών προσφοράν και θυσίαν εις τον Θεόν εις οσμήν ευωδίας.
3 But sexual immorality, and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be mentioned among you, as becomes saints;
Πορνεία δε και πάσα ακαθαρσία ή πλεονεξία μηδέ ας ονομάζηται μεταξύ σας, καθώς πρέπει εις αγίους,
4 nor filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not appropriate, but rather giving of thanks.
μηδέ αισχρότης και μωρολογία ή βωμολοχία, τα οποία είναι απρεπή, αλλά μάλλον ευχαριστία.
5 Know this for sure, that no sexually immoral person, nor unclean person, nor covetous man (who is an idolater), has any inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and God.
Διότι τούτο εξεύρετε, ότι πας πόρνος ή ακάθαρτος ή πλεονέκτης, όστις είναι ειδωλολάτρης, δεν έχει κληρονομίαν εν τη βασιλεία του Χριστού και Θεού.
6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience.
Μηδείς ας μη σας απατά με ματαίους λόγους· επειδή διά ταύτα έρχεται η οργή του Θεού επί τους υιούς της απειθείας.
7 Therefore don’t be partakers with them.
Μη γίνεσθε λοιπόν συμμέτοχοι αυτών.
8 For you were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord. Walk as children of light,
Διότι ήσθε ποτέ σκότος, τώρα όμως φως εν Κυρίω· περιπατείτε ως τέκνα φωτός·
9 for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth,
διότι ο καρπός του Πνεύματος είναι εν πάση αγαθωσύνη και δικαιοσύνη και αληθεία·
10 proving what is well pleasing to the Lord.
εξετάζοντες τι είναι ευάρεστον εις τον Κύριον.
11 Have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them.
Και μη συγκοινωνείτε εις τα έργα τα άκαρπα του σκότους, μάλλον δε και ελέγχετε·
12 For it is a shame even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret.
διότι τα κρυφίως γινόμενα υπ' αυτών αισχρόν έστι και λέγειν·
13 But all things, when they are reproved, are revealed by the light, for everything that reveals is light.
τα δε πάντα ελεγχόμενα υπό του φωτός γίνονται φανερά· επειδή παν το φανερούμενον φως είναι.
14 Therefore he says, “Awake, you who sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
Διά τούτο λέγει· Σηκώθητι ο κοιμώμενος και ανάστηθι εκ των νεκρών, και θέλει σε φωτίσει ο Χριστός.
15 Therefore watch carefully how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise,
Προσέχετε λοιπόν πως να περιπατήτε ακριβώς, μη ως άσοφοι, αλλ' ως σοφοί,
16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
εξαγοραζόμενοι τον καιρόν, διότι αι ημέραι είναι πονηραί.
17 Therefore, don’t be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
Διά τούτο μη γίνεσθε άφρονες, αλλά νοείτε τι είναι το θέλημα του Κυρίου.
18 Don’t be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,
Και μη μεθύσκεσθε με οίνον, εις τον οποίον είναι ασωτία, αλλά πληρούσθε διά του Πνεύματος,
19 speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs; singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
λαλούντες μεταξύ σας με ψαλμούς και ύμνους και ωδάς πνευματικάς, άδοντες και ψάλλοντες εν τη καρδία υμών εις τον Κύριον,
20 giving thanks always concerning all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father;
ευχαριστούντες πάντοτε υπέρ πάντων εις τον Θεόν και Πατέρα εν ονόματι του Κυρίου ημών Ιησού Χριστού,
21 subjecting yourselves to one another in the fear of Christ.
υποτασσόμενοι εις αλλήλους εν φόβω Θεού.
22 Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
Αι γυναίκες, υποτάσσεσθε εις τους άνδρας σας ως εις τον Κύριον,
23 For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the assembly, being himself the savior of the body.
διότι ο ανήρ είναι κεφαλή της γυναικός, καθώς και ο Χριστός κεφαλή της εκκλησίας, και αυτός είναι σωτήρ του σώματος.
24 But as the assembly is subject to Christ, so let the wives also be to their own husbands in everything.
Αλλά καθώς η εκκλησία υποτάσσεται εις τον Χριστόν, ούτω και αι γυναίκες ας υποτάσσωνται εις τους άνδρας αυτών κατά πάντα.
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for her,
Οι άνδρες, αγαπάτε τας γυναίκάς σας, καθώς και ο Χριστός ηγάπησε την εκκλησίαν και παρέδωκεν εαυτόν υπέρ αυτής,
26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,
διά να αγιάση αυτήν, καθαρίσας με το λουτρόν του ύδατος διά του λόγου,
27 that he might present the assembly to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without defect.
διά να παραστήση αυτήν εις εαυτόν ένδοξον εκκλησίαν, μη έχουσαν κηλίδα ή ρυτίδα ή τι των τοιούτων, αλλά διά να ήναι αγία και άμωμος.
28 Even so husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself.
Ούτω χρεωστούσιν οι άνδρες να αγαπώσι τας εαυτών γυναίκας ως τα εαυτών σώματα. Όστις αγαπά την εαυτού γυναίκα εαυτόν αγαπά·
29 For no man ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord also does the assembly,
διότι ουδείς εμίσησέ ποτέ την εαυτού σάρκα, αλλ' εκτρέφει και περιθάλπει αυτήν, καθώς και ο Κύριος την εκκλησίαν·
30 because we are members of his body, of his flesh and bones.
επειδή μέλη είμεθα του σώματος αυτού, εκ της σαρκός αυτού και εκ των οστέων αυτού.
31 “For this cause a man will leave his father and mother and will be joined to his wife. Then the two will become one flesh.”
Διά τούτο θέλει αφήσει ο άνθρωπος τον πατέρα αυτού και την μητέρα και θέλει προσκολληθή εις την γυναίκα αυτού, και θέλουσιν είσθαι οι δύο εις σάρκα μίαν.
32 This mystery is great, but I speak concerning Christ and the assembly.
Το μυστήριον τούτο είναι μέγα, εγώ δε λέγω τούτο περί Χριστού και περί της εκκλησίας.
33 Nevertheless each of you must also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
Πλην και σεις οι καθ' ένα έκαστος την εαυτού γυναίκα ούτως ας αγαπά ως εαυτόν, η δε γυνή ας σέβηται τον άνδρα.
