Colossians 1
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, and Timothy our brother,
Paul, Apôtre de Jésus-Christ par la volonté de Dieu, et Timothée, notre frère,
2 to the saints and faithful brothers in Christ at Colossae: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
aux saints qui sont à Colosses, nos fidèles frères en Christ: que la grâce et la paix vous soient données par Dieu, notre Père.
3 We give thanks to God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,
Nous ne cessons de rendre grâces à Dieu, le Père de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, dans les prières que nous lui adressons pour vous,
4 having heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love which you have toward all the saints,
depuis que nous avons entendu parler de votre foi en Jésus-Christ et de votre charité pour tous les saints,
5 because of the hope which is laid up for you in the heavens, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the Good News
à cause de l'espérance qui vous est réservée dans les cieux, et dont on vous a déjà entretenus, quand on vous a annoncé la vérité évangélique.
6 which has come to you, even as it is in all the world and is bearing fruit and growing, as it does in you also, since the day you heard and knew the grace of God in truth,
L'évangile est au milieu de vous, comme il est dans le monde entier, où il porte des fruits et fait des progrès, ainsi que cela a eu lieu parmi vous, depuis le jour où vous avez entendu et connu la grâce de Dieu telle qu'elle est véritablement,
7 even as you learned from Epaphras our beloved fellow servant, who is a faithful servant of Christ on your behalf,
telle aussi que vous l'avez apprise de notre bien-aimé collègue Epaphras, qui est pour vous un fidèle ministre de Christ.
8 who also declared to us your love in the Spirit.
C'est lui qui nous a informé de la charité toute spirituelle qui vous anime.
9 For this cause, we also, since the day we heard this, don’t cease praying and making requests for you, that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,
C'est pourquoi, du jour où nous l'avons su, nous n'avons cessé de prier pour vous, et de demander que vous ayez la pleine connaissance de la volonté de Dieu, avec toute sagesse et toute intelligence spirituelle,
10 that you may walk worthily of the Lord, to please him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God,
en sorte que vous vous conduisiez d'une manière digne du Seigneur, pour lui plaire en toutes choses. Que Dieu vous donne de porter toutes sortes de bons fruits, de croître dans sa connaissance,
11 strengthened with all power, according to the might of his glory, for all endurance and perseverance with joy,
et d'être fortifiés de toute manière par sa glorieuse puissance, pour tout supporter et endurer avec joie.
12 giving thanks to the Father, who made us fit to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light,
Soyez pleins de reconnaissance pour le Père, qui nous a rendus capables de partager le sort des saints dans la lumière,
13 who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love,
en nous arrachant à la puissance des ténèbres pour nous transporter dans le royaume du Fils de son amour,
14 in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins.
en qui nous avons la délivrance, le pardon des péchés.
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.
C'est ce Fils qui est l'image du Dieu invisible, le premier-né de toute la création,
16 For by him all things were created in the heavens and on the earth, visible things and invisible things, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things have been created through him and for him.
car c'est en lui que toutes les choses ont été créées, celles qui sont dans les cieux et celles qui sont sur la terre, les choses visibles et les choses invisibles, les majestés, les seigneuries, les principautés, les puissances: tout a été créé par lui et pour lui.
17 He is before all things, and in him all things are held together.
Il est avant toutes choses et toutes choses subsistent en lui.
18 He is the head of the body, the assembly, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things he might have the preeminence.
Il est la tête du corps de l'Église, lui qui est les prémices de la résurrection, le premier-né d'entre les morts, afin qu'il soit le premier en tout.
19 For all the fullness was pleased to dwell in him,
Car Dieu s'est plu à faire habiter en lui toute la perfection,
20 and through him to reconcile all things to himself by him, whether things on the earth or things in the heavens, having made peace through the blood of his cross.
et à réconcilier avec soi, par lui, toutes choses, soit celles qui sont sur la terre, soit celles qui sont dans les cieux, en faisant la paix par le sang de sa croix.
21 You, being in past times alienated and enemies in your mind in your evil deeds,
Vous aussi, qui étiez autrefois étrangers et ennemis par vos sentiments et par vos mauvaises oeuvres,
22 yet now he has reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and without defect and blameless before him,
Christ vous a maintenant réconciliés par la mort qu'il a soufferte en sa chair, de manière à vous faire paraître devant lui, saints, sans tache et sans reproche;
23 if it is so that you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the Good News which you heard, which is being proclaimed in all creation under heaven, of which I, Paul, was made a servant.
si du moins vous demeurez fondés et inébranlables dans la foi, sans vous écarter de l'espérance proclamée par l'évangile que vous avez entendu, qui a été prêché à toute créature sous ciel, et dont, moi Paul, je suis devenu ministre.
24 Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and fill up on my part that which is lacking of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the assembly,
Je suis heureux maintenant des souffrances que j'endure pour vous, et j'achève en ma chair ce qui manque aux souffrances de Christ pour son corps, qui est l'Église.
25 of which I was made a servant according to the stewardship of God which was given me toward you to fulfill the word of God,
J'en ai été fait ministre par la dispensation de Dieu, qui m'a donné, en vue de vous, la tâche de répandre partout sa parole,
26 the mystery which has been hidden for ages and generations. But now it has been revealed to his saints, (aiōn g165)
— ce mystère caché de toute éternité et avant tous les âges, mais révélé aujourd'hui aux saints, (aiōn g165)
27 to whom God was pleased to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
à qui Dieu a voulu faire connaître quelle est la richesse de ce glorieux mystère parmi les Gentils: cette richesse, c'est Christ au milieu de vous, c'est l'espérance de la gloire.
28 We proclaim him, admonishing every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus;
C'est lui que nous annonçons, avertissant et instruisant tout homme en toute sagesse, afin de rendre tout homme parfait en Christ.
29 for which I also labor, striving according to his working, which works in me mightily.
C'est aussi dans ce dessein que je travaille, en luttant avec l'énergie qu'il déploie puissamment en moi.
