Acts 8
1 Saul was consenting to his death. A great persecution arose against the assembly which was in Jerusalem in that day. They were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except for the apostles.
૧શાઉલે તેની હત્યા કરવાની સંમતિ આપી હતી, તે જ દિવસે યરુશાલેમના વિશ્વાસી સમુદાય પર ભારે સતાવણી શરૂ થઈ, અને પ્રેરિતો સિવાય તેઓ સર્વ યહૂદિયા તથા સમરુનના પ્રાંતોમાં વિખેરાઈ ગયા.
2 Devout men buried Stephen and lamented greatly over him.
૨ધર્મનિષ્ઠ પુરુષોએ સ્તેફનને દફનાવ્યો, અને તેને સારુ ઘણો વિલાપ કર્યો.
3 But Saul ravaged the assembly, entering into every house and dragged both men and women off to prison.
૩પણ શાઉલે વિશ્વાસી સમુદાયને ભારે ત્રાસ આપ્યો, એટલે ઘેરેઘેરથી પુરુષો તથા સ્ત્રીઓને ઘસડી લઈ જઈને જેલમાં પૂર્યા.
4 Therefore those who were scattered abroad went around preaching the word.
૪જેઓ વિખેરાઈ ગયા હતા તેઓ બધે સુવાર્તા પ્રગટ કરતા ગયા.
5 Philip went down to the city of Samaria and proclaimed to them the Christ.
૫ફિલિપે સમારીઆ શહેરમાં જઈને તેઓને ખ્રિસ્ત વિષે પ્રચાર કર્યો.
6 The multitudes listened with one accord to the things that were spoken by Philip when they heard and saw the signs which he did.
૬ફિલિપે કહેલી વાતો સાંભળીને તથા કરેલા ચમત્કારિક ચિહ્નો જોઈને લોકોએ તેની વાતો પર એક ચિત્તે ધ્યાન આપ્યું.
7 For unclean spirits came out of many of those who had them. They came out, crying with a loud voice. Many who had been paralyzed and lame were healed.
૭કેમ કે જેઓને અશુદ્ધ આત્માઓ વળગ્યા હતા તેઓમાંના ઘણાંમાંથી તેઓ મોટી બૂમ પાડતા બહાર નીકળ્યા, અને ઘણાં પક્ષઘાતીઓ તથા પગે અપંગો સાજાં કરવામાં આવ્યા.
8 There was great joy in that city.
૮અને તે શહેરમાં બહુ આનંદ થયો.
9 But there was a certain man, Simon by name, who used to practice sorcery in the city and amazed the people of Samaria, making himself out to be some great one,
૯પણ સિમોન નામે એક માણસ તે શહેરમાં અગાઉ જાદુ કરતો હતો, અને હું કોઈ મહાન વ્યક્તિ છું એમ કહીને સમરુનના લોકોને આશ્ચર્યચકિત કરી નાખતો હતો;
10 to whom they all listened, from the least to the greatest, saying, “This man is that great power of God.”
૧૦તેઓ નાનાથી તે મોટા સુધી સર્વ તેનું સાંભળતાં, તેઓ કહેતાં કે, ઈશ્વરનું જે મહાન પરાક્રમ કહેવાય છે, તે આ વ્યક્તિ છે.
11 They listened to him because for a long time he had amazed them with his sorceries.
૧૧તેણે ઘણાં સમય સુધી પોતાની જાદુક્રિયાઓથી તેઓને આશ્ચર્યચકિત કરી નાખ્યા હતા, તેથી તેઓ તેનું સાંભળતાં હતા.
12 But when they believed Philip preaching good news concerning God’s Kingdom and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
૧૨પણ ફિલિપ ઈશ્વરના રાજ્ય તથા ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્તનાં નામ વિષે સુવાર્તા પ્રગટ કરતો હતો ત્યારે તેઓનો વિશ્વાસ તેના પર બેઠો, અને પુરુષોએ તેમ જ સ્ત્રીઓએ બાપ્તિસ્મા લીધું.
13 Simon himself also believed. Being baptized, he continued with Philip. Seeing signs and great miracles occurring, he was amazed.
૧૩સિમોને પોતે પણ વિશ્વાસ કર્યો, અને બાપ્તિસ્મા પામીને ફિલિપ સાથે રહ્યો; અને ચમત્કારો તથા મોટા પરાક્રમી કામો બનતાં જોઈને તે આશ્ચર્ય પામ્યો.
14 Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them,
૧૪હવે સમરુનીઓએ ઈશ્વરનું વચન સ્વીકાર્યું છે એવું યરુશાલેમમાં પ્રેરિતોએ સાંભળ્યું, ત્યારે તેઓએ પિતર તથા યોહાનને તેઓની પાસે મોકલ્યા.
15 who, when they had come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit;
૧૫તેઓએ ત્યાં પહોંચ્યાં પછી તેઓને સારુ પ્રાર્થના કરી કે તેઓ પવિત્ર આત્મા પામે;
16 for as yet he had fallen on none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of Christ Jesus.
૧૬કેમ કે ત્યાર સુધી તેઓમાંના કોઈ પર પવિત્ર આત્મા ઊતર્યો નહોતો; પણ તેઓ માત્ર પ્રભુ ઈસુને નામે બાપ્તિસ્મા પામ્યા હતા.
17 Then they laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.
૧૭પછી પિતર તથા યોહાને તેઓ પર હાથ મૂક્યા, અને તેઓ પવિત્ર આત્મા પામ્યા.
18 Now when Simon saw that the Holy Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money,
૧૮હવે પ્રેરિતોના હાથ મૂકવાથી પવિત્ર આત્મા આપવામાં આવે છે, એ જોઈને સિમોને તેઓને પૈસા આપવા માંડ્યા.
19 saying, “Give me also this power, that whomever I lay my hands on may receive the Holy Spirit.”
૧૯તેણે કહ્યું કે, તમે મને પણ એ અધિકાર આપો કે જેનાં પર હું હાથ મૂકું તે પવિત્ર આત્મા પામે.
20 But Peter said to him, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money!
૨૦પણ પિતરે તેને કહ્યું કે, ઈશ્વરનું દાન પૈસાથી વેચાતું લેવાનું તેં વિચાર્યું માટે તારા પૈસા તારી સાથે નાશ પામો.
21 You have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your heart isn’t right before God.
૨૧આ બાબતમાં તારે કશી લેવા દેવા નથી. કારણ કે તારું અંતઃકરણ ઈશ્વરની આગળ પ્રમાણિક નથી.
22 Repent therefore of this, your wickedness, and ask God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.
૨૨માટે તારી આ દુષ્ટતાનો પસ્તાવો કર, અને પ્રભુને પ્રાર્થના કર કે, કદાચ તારા અંતઃકરણના વિચાર તને માફ થાય.
23 For I see that you are in the poison of bitterness and in the bondage of iniquity.”
૨૩કેમ કે હું જોઉં છું કે તું કડવાશમાં અને પાપના બંધનમાં છે.
24 Simon answered, “Pray for me to the Lord, that none of the things which you have spoken happen to me.”
૨૪ત્યારે સિમોને ઉત્તર આપ્યો કે, તમારી કહેલી વાતો મુજબ કંઈ પણ મને ના થાય તે માટે તમે મારે માટે પ્રભુને પ્રાર્થના કરો.
25 They therefore, when they had testified and spoken the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the Good News to many villages of the Samaritans.
૨૫હવે ત્યાં સાક્ષી આપ્યા પછી તથા પ્રભુની વાત પ્રગટ કર્યા પછી સમરૂનીઓનાં ઘણાં ગામોમાં સુવાર્તા પ્રગટ કરીને તેઓ યરુશાલેમમાં પાછા આવ્યા.
26 Then an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise, and go toward the south to the way that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza. This is a desert.”
૨૬હવે પ્રભુના એક સ્વર્ગદૂતે ફિલિપને કહ્યું કે, ઊઠ, ને યરુશાલેમથી ગાઝા જવાના માર્ગ સુધી દક્ષિણ તરફ જા; ત્યાં અરણ્ય છે.
27 He arose and went; and behold, there was a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was over all her treasure, who had come to Jerusalem to worship.
૨૭તે ઊઠીને ગયો; અને જુઓ, ત્યાં ઇથિયોપિયાનો એક ખોજો કે જે ઇથિયોપિયાની રાણી કંદિકાના હાથ નીચે મોટો અધિકારી તથા તેના સઘળા ભંડારનો કારભારી હતો, તે ભજન કરવા સારુ યરુશાલેમમાં આવ્યો હતો.
28 He was returning and sitting in his chariot, and was reading the prophet Isaiah.
૨૮તે પાછા જતા પોતાના રથમાં બેસીને પ્રબોધક યશાયાનું પુસ્તક વાંચતો હતો.
29 The Spirit said to Philip, “Go near, and join yourself to this chariot.”
૨૯આત્માએ ફિલિપને કહ્યું કે, તું પાસે જઈને એ રથની સાથે થઈ જા.
30 Philip ran to him, and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”
૩૦ત્યારે ફિલિપ તેની પાસે દોડી ગયો, અને તેને પ્રબોધક યશાયાનું પુસ્તક વાંચતા સાંભળીને પૂછ્યું કે, તું જે વાંચે છે તે શું તું સમજે છે?
31 He said, “How can I, unless someone explains it to me?” He begged Philip to come up and sit with him.
૩૧ત્યારે તેણે કહ્યું કે, કોઈનાં સમજાવ્યાં સિવાય હું કેમ કરીને સમજી શકું? તેણે ફિલિપને વિનંતી કરી કે, મારા રથમાં ઉપર આવી મારી પાસે બેસ.
32 Now the passage of the Scripture which he was reading was this, “He was led as a sheep to the slaughter. As a lamb before his shearer is silent, so he doesn’t open his mouth.
૩૨શાસ્ત્રવચનનું જે પ્રકરણ તે વાંચતો હતો તે એ હતું કે, “ઘેટાંની પેઠે મારી નંખાવાને તેમને લઈ જવાયા; અને જેમ હલવાન પોતાના કાતરનારની આગળ મૂંગું રહે છે, તેમ તેમણે પોતાનું મુખ ઉઘાડ્યું નહિ;
33 In his humiliation, his judgment was taken away. Who will declare His generation? For his life is taken from the earth.”
૩૩તેમની દીનાવસ્થામાં તેમનો ન્યાય ડૂબી ગયો; તેમના જમાનાનાં લોકનું વર્ણન કોણ કહી દેખાડશે? કેમ કે તેમનો જીવ પૃથ્વી પરથી લઈ લેવામાં આવ્યો.”
34 The eunuch answered Philip, “Who is the prophet talking about? About himself, or about someone else?”
૩૪ત્યારે તે ખોજાએ ફિલિપને ઉત્તર દેતાં કહ્યું કે, હું તને વિનંતી કરું છું કે, પ્રબોધક કોનાં વિષે એ કહે છે? પોતાના વિષે કે કોઈ બીજાના વિષે?
35 Philip opened his mouth, and beginning from this Scripture, preached to him about Jesus.
૩૫ત્યારે ફિલિપે કહેવાનું શરૂ કર્યું અને શાસ્ત્રવચનની તે વાતથી આરંભ કરીને તેને ઈસુ વિષેની સુવાર્તા પ્રગટ કરી.
36 As they went on the way, they came to some water; and the eunuch said, “Behold, here is water. What is keeping me from being baptized?”
૩૬માર્ગમાં તેઓ એક જળાશય પાસે આવી પહોંચ્યા; ત્યારે ખોજાએ કહ્યું કે, જો, અહીં પાણી છે, બાપ્તિસ્મા પામવાથી મને શું અટકાવી શકે?
૩૭ત્યારે ફિલિપે કહ્યું કે, જો તું તારા પૂરા મનથી વિશ્વાસ કરે છે તો એ ઉચિત છે; ખોજાએ ઉત્તર દેતાં કહ્યું કે, ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્ત ઈશ્વરના પુત્ર છે, એવું હું માનું છું.
38 He commanded the chariot to stand still, and they both went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him.
૩૮પછી તેણે રથ ઊભો રાખવાનો હુકમ કર્યો, અને ફિલિપ તથા ખોજો બન્ને જણ પાણીમાં ઊતર્યા, ફિલિપે તેને બાપ્તિસ્મા આપ્યું.
39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, and the eunuch didn’t see him any more, for he went on his way rejoicing.
૩૯તેઓ પાણીમાંથી બહાર આવ્યા ત્યારે પ્રભુનો આત્મા ફિલિપને લઈ ગયો; અને ખોજાએ ફરી ફિલિપને જોયો નહિ, પરંતુ તે આનંદ કરતા કરતા પોતાના માર્ગે ચાલ્યો ગયો.
40 But Philip was found at Azotus. Passing through, he preached the Good News to all the cities until he came to Caesarea.
૪૦પણ ફિલિપ આશ્દોદમાં દેખાયો; તે કાઈસારિયા પહોંચતાં સુધી માર્ગમાંના સર્વ શહેરમાં સુવાર્તા પ્રગટ કરતો કરતો ગયો.
