Acts 6

1 Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, a complaint arose from the Hellenists against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily service.

௧அந்த நாட்களிலே, சீடர்களின் எண்ணிக்கை அதிகமானபோது, கிரேக்கர்களானவர்கள், தங்களுடைய விதவைகள் அன்றாட பராமரிப்பில் சரியாக பராமரிக்கப்படவில்லையென்று, எபிரெயர்களுக்கு விரோதமாக முறுமுறுத்தார்கள்.

2 The twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, “It is not appropriate for us to forsake the word of God and serve tables.

௨அப்பொழுது பன்னிரண்டு சீடர்களும் மற்ற சீடர்கள் கூட்டத்தை வரவழைத்து: நாங்கள் தேவவசனத்தைப் போதிக்காமல், பந்திவிசாரிப்பு செய்வது தகுதியல்ல.

3 Therefore, select from among you, brothers, seven men of good report, full of the Holy Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

௩ஆதலால் சகோதரர்களே, பரிசுத்த ஆவியும், ஞானமும், நற்சாட்சியும் பெற்றிருக்கிற ஏழுபேரை உங்களில் தெரிந்துகொள்ளுங்கள்; அவர்களை இந்த வேலைக்காக நியமிப்போம்.

4 But we will continue steadfastly in prayer and in the ministry of the word.”

௪நாங்களோ ஜெபம்பண்ணுவதிலும் தேவவசனத்தைப் போதிப்பதிலும் இடைவிடாமல் உறுதியாகத் தரித்திருப்போம் என்றார்கள்.

5 These words pleased the whole multitude. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a proselyte of Antioch,

௫இந்த யோசனை சபையாரெல்லோருக்கும் பிரியமாக இருந்தது. அப்பொழுது விசுவாசமும் பரிசுத்த ஆவியும் நிறைந்தவனாகிய ஸ்தேவானையும், பிலிப்பையும், பிரொகோரையும், நிக்கானோரையும், தீமோனையும், பர்மெனாவையும், யூத மதத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவனான அந்தியோகியா பட்டணத்தானாகிய நிக்கொலாவையும் தெரிந்துகொண்டு,

6 whom they set before the apostles. When they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

௬அவர்களை அப்போஸ்தலர்களுக்கு முன்பாக நிறுத்தினார்கள். இவர்கள் ஜெபம்பண்ணி, அவர்கள்மேல் கரங்களை வைத்தார்கள்.

7 The word of God increased and the number of the disciples greatly multiplied in Jerusalem. A great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

௭தேவவசனம் அதிகமாகப் பரவியது; சீடருடைய எண்ணிக்கை எருசலேமில் மிகவும் பெருகியது; ஆசாரியர்களில் அநேகர் விசுவாசத்திற்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்தார்கள்.

8 Stephen, full of faith and power, performed great wonders and signs among the people.

௮ஸ்தேவான் விசுவாசத்தினாலும் வல்லமையினாலும் நிறைந்தவனாக மக்களுக்குள்ளே பெரிய அற்புதங்களையும் அடையாளங்களையும் செய்தான்.

9 But some of those who were of the synagogue called “The Libertines”, and of the Cyrenians, of the Alexandrians, and of those of Cilicia and Asia arose, disputing with Stephen.

௯அப்பொழுது லிபர்த்தீனர் என்னப்பட்டவர்களின் ஆலயத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களிலும், சிரேனே பட்டணத்தாரிலும், அலெக்சந்திரியா பட்டணத்தாரிலும், சிலிசியா நாட்டாரிலும், ஆசியா தேசத்தாரிலும் சிலர் எழும்பி, ஸ்தேவானோடு வாக்குவாதம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

10 They weren’t able to withstand the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke.

௧0அவன் பேசின ஞானத்தையும் ஆவியையும் எதிர்த்துநிற்க அவர்களால் முடியாமல்போனது.

11 Then they secretly induced men to say, “We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God.”

௧௧அப்பொழுது அவர்கள்: மோசேக்கும் தேவனுக்கும் எதிராக இவன் அவதூறான வார்த்தைகளைப் பேசுவதைக் கேட்டோம் என்று சொல்லச்சொல்லி மனிதர்களைத் தூண்டிவிட்டு;

12 They stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes, and came against him and seized him, then brought him in to the council,

௧௨மக்களையும் மூப்பர்களையும் வேதபண்டிதரையும் ஏவி; அவன்மேல் பாய்ந்து, அவனைப் பிடித்து, ஆலோசனைச் சங்கத்தினர்களுக்கு முன்பாக இழுத்துக்கொண்டுபோய்;

13 and set up false witnesses who said, “This man never stops speaking blasphemous words against this holy place and the law.

௧௩பொய்ச்சாட்சிகளையும் நிறுத்தினார்கள். இவர்கள்: இந்த மனிதன் இந்தப் பரிசுத்த இடத்திற்கும் வேதப்பிரமாணத்திற்கும் எதிராக அவதூறான வார்த்தைகளையே எப்பொழுதும் பேசுகிறான்;

14 For we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place, and will change the customs which Moses delivered to us.”

௧௪எப்படியென்றால், நசரேயனாகிய அந்த இயேசு இந்த இடத்தை அழித்துப்போட்டு, மோசே நமக்குக் கொடுத்த வழக்கங்களை மாற்றுவானென்று இவன் சொல்வதைக் கேட்டோம் என்றார்கள்.

15 All who sat in the council, fastening their eyes on him, saw his face like it was the face of an angel.

௧௫ஆலோசனைச் சங்கத்தில் உட்கார்ந்திருந்த அனைவரும் அவனை உற்றுப்பார்த்து, அவனுடைய முகம் தேவதூதனுடைய முகத்தைப்போல இருப்பதைக் கண்டார்கள்.
