Acts 6

1 Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, a complaint arose from the Hellenists against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily service.

೧ಆ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿಷ್ಯರು ಹೆಚ್ಚುತ್ತಾ ಬರಲಾಗಿ ಅವರೊಳಗೆ ಗ್ರೀಕ್ ಭಾಷೆಯವರು ಇಬ್ರಿಯ ಭಾಷೆಯವರ ಮೇಲೆ ದೂರು ನೀಡುತ್ತಾ ಅನುದಿನದ ಉಪಚಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ವಿಧವೆಯರನ್ನು ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಪರಾಂಬರಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ಗೊಣಗುಟ್ಟಿದರು.

2 The twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, “It is not appropriate for us to forsake the word of God and serve tables.

೨ಆಗ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಮಂದಿ ಅಪೊಸ್ತಲರು ಶಿಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಒಟ್ಟುಗೂಡಿಸಿ, “ನಾವು ದೇವರ ವಾಕ್ಯೋಪದೇಶವನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಉಪಚಾರಮಾಡುವುದು ಸರಿಯಲ್ಲವಲ್ಲಾ.

3 Therefore, select from among you, brothers, seven men of good report, full of the Holy Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

೩ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಸಹೋದರರೇ, ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮಭರಿತರೂ, ಜ್ಞಾನಸಂಪನ್ನರೂ ಮತ್ತು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯನ್ನುಳಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ಏಳು ಮಂದಿಯನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮೊಳಗಿಂದ ನೋಡಿ ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ. ಅವರನ್ನು ಈ ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ನೇಮಿಸುವೆವು.

4 But we will continue steadfastly in prayer and in the ministry of the word.”

೪ನಾವಾದರೋ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಯನ್ನೂ, ವಾಕ್ಯೋಪದೇಶವನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರತರಾಗಿರುವೆವು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

5 These words pleased the whole multitude. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a proselyte of Antioch,

೫ಈ ಮಾತು ಸರ್ವರಿಗೂ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದೆಂದು ತೋಚಿತು. ಅವರು ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮಭರಿತರೂ, ನಂಬಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿದವರೂ ಆದ ಸ್ತೆಫನ, ಫಿಲಿಪ್ಪ, ಪ್ರೊಖೋರ, ನಿಕನೋರ, ತಿಮೋನ, ಪರ್ಮೇನ, ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯ ಮತಾವಲಂಬಿಯಾದ ಅಂತಿಯೋಕ್ಯದ ನಿಕೊಲಾಯ ಎಂಬುವವರನ್ನೂ ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಅಪೊಸ್ತಲರ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು.

6 whom they set before the apostles. When they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

೬ಅಪೊಸ್ತಲರು ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೈಗಳನ್ನಿಟ್ಟು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಮಾಡಿ ಆ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ನೇಮಿಸಿದರು.

7 The word of God increased and the number of the disciples greatly multiplied in Jerusalem. A great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

೭ದೇವರ ವಾಕ್ಯವು ಪ್ರಬಲವಾಯಿತು; ಶಿಷ್ಯರ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದಿತು. ಯಾಜಕರಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಬಹುಜನರು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತ ನಂಬಿಕೆಗೆ ಒಳಗಾಗುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದರು.

8 Stephen, full of faith and power, performed great wonders and signs among the people.

೮ಸ್ತೆಫನನು ದೇವರ ಕೃಪೆಯಿಂದಲೂ, ಬಲದಿಂದಲೂ ತುಂಬಿದವನಾಗಿ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಮಹಾ ಅದ್ಭುತ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಸೂಚಕಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದನು.

9 But some of those who were of the synagogue called “The Libertines”, and of the Cyrenians, of the Alexandrians, and of those of Cilicia and Asia arose, disputing with Stephen.

೯ಆದರೆ ಲಿಬೆರ್ತೀನರೆಂಬವರ ಸಮಾಜಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿದ ಕುರೇನ್ಯದವರು ಮತ್ತು ಅಲೆಕ್ಸಾಂದ್ರಿಯದವರು, ಕಿಲಿಕ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಆಸ್ಯ ಸೀಮೆಗಳಿಂದ ಬಂದವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ಎದ್ದು ಸ್ತೆಫನನ ಸಂಗಡ ತರ್ಕಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದರು.

10 They weren’t able to withstand the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke.

೧೦ಅವನ ಮಾತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡುಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನೂ, ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮ ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನೂ ಎದುರಿಸಲಾರದೆ ಹೋದರು.

11 Then they secretly induced men to say, “We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God.”

೧೧ಆಗ ಅವರು ಕೆಲವು ಜನರಿಗೆ, “ಇವನು ಮೋಶೆಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿಯೂ, ದೇವರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿಯೂ ದೂಷಣೆಯ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನಾಡುವುದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದೆವೆಂದು” ಹೇಳಿರಿ ಎಂದು ಕೆಲವರನ್ನು ಮನವೊಲಿಸಿದರು.

12 They stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes, and came against him and seized him, then brought him in to the council,

೧೨ಅವರು ಜನರನ್ನೂ, ಹಿರಿಯರನ್ನೂ, ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಪ್ರಚೋದಿಸಿದರು ಮತ್ತು ಅವನನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು, ಎಳೆದುಕೊಂಡು, ಹಿರೀಸಭೆಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಸುಳ್ಳುಸಾಕ್ಷಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕರತಂದು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು.

13 and set up false witnesses who said, “This man never stops speaking blasphemous words against this holy place and the law.

೧೩ಆ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಗಳು, “ಈ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಈ ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧವಾದ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿಯೂ, ಧರ್ಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿಯೂ ಮಾತನಾಡುವುದನ್ನು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

14 For we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place, and will change the customs which Moses delivered to us.”

೧೪ಆ ನಜರೇತಿನ ಯೇಸು ಈ ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನು ನಾಶಮಾಡಿ, ಮೋಶೆ ನಮಗೆ ನೇಮಿಸಿರುವ ಆಚಾರಗಳನ್ನು ಬೇರೆ ಮಾಡುವನೆಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಇವನು ಹೇಳುವುದನ್ನು ನಾವು ಕೇಳಿದ್ದೇವೆ” ಅಂದರು.

15 All who sat in the council, fastening their eyes on him, saw his face like it was the face of an angel.

೧೫ಆಗ ಹಿರೀಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತಿದ್ದವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅವನನ್ನು ದೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿ ನೋಡಲು ಅವನ ಮುಖವು ದೇವದೂತನ ಮುಖದಂತೆ ಇರುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡರು.
