Acts 18
1 After these things Paul departed from Athens and came to Corinth.
E depois disto partiu Paulo de Atenas, e chegou a Corinto.
2 He found a certain Jew named Aquila, a man of Pontus by race, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to depart from Rome. He came to them,
E, achando um certo judeu por nome Áquila, natural do Ponto, que havia pouco que tinha vindo da Itália, e Priscila, sua mulher (porquanto Claudio tinha mandado que todos os judeus saissem de Roma), se ajuntou com eles,
3 and because he practiced the same trade, he lived with them and worked, for by trade they were tent makers.
E, porque era do mesmo ofício, ficou com eles, e trabalhava; pois tinham por ofício fazer tendas.
4 He reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath and persuaded Jews and Greeks.
E cada sábado disputava na sinagoga, e persuadia a judeus e gregos.
5 When Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul was compelled by the Spirit, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ.
E, quando Silas e Timotheo desceram da Macedônia, foi Paulo constrangido pelo espírito, testificando aos judeus que Jesus era o Cristo.
6 When they opposed him and blasphemed, he shook out his clothing and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am clean. From now on, I will go to the Gentiles!”
Porém, resistindo e blasfemando eles, sacudiu os vestidos, e disse-lhes: O vosso sangue seja sobre a vossa cabeça; eu estou limpo, e desde agora parto para os gentios.
7 He departed there and went into the house of a certain man named Justus, one who worshiped God, whose house was next door to the synagogue.
E, partindo dali, entrou em casa de um, por nome Justo, que servia a Deus, cuja casa estava junto da sinagoga.
8 Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord with all his house. Many of the Corinthians, when they heard, believed and were baptized.
E Crispo, principal da sinagoga, creu no Senhor com toda a sua casa; e muitos dos Coríntios, ouvindo-o, creram e foram batizados.
9 The Lord said to Paul in the night by a vision, “Don’t be afraid, but speak and don’t be silent;
E disse o Senhor em visão a Paulo: Não temas, mas fala, e não te cales;
10 for I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I have many people in this city.”
Porque eu estou contigo, e ninguém lançará mão de ti para te fazer mal, porque tenho muito povo nesta cidade.
11 He lived there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.
E ficou ali um ano e seis meses, ensinando entre eles a palavra de Deus.
12 But when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him before the judgment seat,
Porém, sendo Gálio próconsul da Acáia, levantaram-se os judeus concordemente contra Paulo, e o levaram ao tribunal,
13 saying, “This man persuades men to worship God contrary to the law.”
Dizendo: Este persuade os homens a servir a Deus contra a lei.
14 But when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, “If indeed it were a matter of wrong or of wicked crime, you Jews, it would be reasonable that I should bear with you;
E, querendo Paulo abrir a boca, disse Gálio aos judeus: Se houvesse, ó judeus, algum agravo ou crime enorme, com razão vos sofreria,
15 but if they are questions about words and names and your own law, look to it yourselves. For I don’t want to be a judge of these matters.”
Mas, se a questão é de palavras, e de nomes, e da lei que entre vós há, vêde-o vós mesmos: porque eu não quero ser juiz dessas coisas.
16 So he drove them from the judgment seat.
E lançou-os do tribunal.
17 Then all the Greeks seized Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. Gallio didn’t care about any of these things.
Porém, tomando todos os gregos a Sostenes, principal da sinagoga, o feriram diante do tribunal; e a Gálio nada destas coisas se lhe davam.
18 Paul, having stayed after this many more days, took his leave of the brothers, and sailed from there for Syria, together with Priscilla and Aquila. He shaved his head in Cenchreae, for he had a vow.
E Paulo, ficando ainda ali muitos dias, despediu-se dos irmãos e dali navegou para a Síria, e com ele Priscila e Áquila, tendo tosquiado a cabeça em Cencrea, porque tinha voto.
19 He came to Ephesus, and he left them there; but he himself entered into the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews.
E chegou a Éfeso, e deixou-os ali; porém ele, entrando na sinagoga, disputava com os judeus.
20 When they asked him to stay with them a longer time, he declined;
E, rogando-lhe eles que ficasse com eles por mais algum tempo, não conveio nisso.
21 but taking his leave of them, he said, “I must by all means keep this coming feast in Jerusalem, but I will return again to you if God wills.” Then he set sail from Ephesus.
Antes se despediu deles, dizendo: É-me necessário em todo o caso guardar em Jerusalém a festa que se aproxima; mas, querendo Deus, outra vez voltarei para vós. E partiu de Éfeso.
22 When he had landed at Caesarea, he went up and greeted the assembly, and went down to Antioch.
E, chegando a Cesareia, subiu a Jerusalém, e, saudando a igreja, desceu a Antiochia.
23 Having spent some time there, he departed and went through the region of Galatia and Phrygia, in order, establishing all the disciples.
E, estando ali algum tempo, partiu, passando sucessivamente pela província da Galacia e Phrygia, confirmando a todos os discípulos.
24 Now a certain Jew named Apollos, an Alexandrian by race, an eloquent man, came to Ephesus. He was mighty in the Scriptures.
E chegou a Éfeso um certo judeu chamado Apolo, natural de Alexandria, varão eloquente e poderoso nas escrituras.
25 This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, although he knew only the baptism of John.
Este era instruído no caminho do Senhor, e, fervoroso de espírito, falava e ensinava diligentemente as coisas do Senhor, conhecendo somente o batismo de João.
26 He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside, and explained to him the way of God more accurately.
E este começou a falar ousadamente na sinagoga; e, ouvindo-o Priscila e Áquila, o levaram consigo, e lhe declararam mais pontualmente o caminho de Deus.
27 When he had determined to pass over into Achaia, the brothers encouraged him; and wrote to the disciples to receive him. When he had come, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace;
E, querendo ele passar à Acáia, exortando-o os irmãos, escreveram aos discípulos que o recebessem; o qual, tendo chegado, aproveitou muito aos que pela graça criam.
28 for he powerfully refuted the Jews, publicly showing by the Scriptures that Jesus was the Christ.
Porque com grande veemência convencia publicamente os judeus, mostrando pelas escrituras que Jesus era o Cristo.
