Acts 17
1 Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a Jewish synagogue.
ಅವರು ಅಂಫಿಪೊಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಅಪೊಲೋನ್ಯ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಥೆಸಲೋನಿಕಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದರು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಒಂದು ಸಭಾಮಂದಿರವಿತ್ತು.
2 Paul, as was his custom, went in to them; and for three Sabbath days reasoned with them from the Scriptures,
ಪೌಲನು ತನ್ನ ವಾಡಿಕೆಯಂತೆ ಮೂರು ಸಬ್ಬತ್ ದಿನಗಳಂದು ಅವರ ಬಳಿ ಹೋಗಿ, ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಪವಿತ್ರ ವೇದಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ವಾದಿಸಿ,
3 explaining and demonstrating that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and saying, “This Jesus, whom I proclaim to you, is the Christ.”
ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತ ಯೇಸು ಯಾತನೆಯನ್ನು ಅನುಭವಿಸಿ, ಸತ್ತವರೊಳಗಿಂದ ಜೀವಂತವಾಗಿ ಎದ್ದು ಬರಬೇಕಾಗಿತ್ತೆಂಬುದನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸಿ, “ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಯೇಸುವೇ ಆ ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತ,” ಎಂದು ಅವನು ಅವರ ಮುಂದೆ ಬಹಿರಂಗಪಡಿಸಿದನು.
4 Some of them were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas: of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and not a few of the chief women.
ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ದೇವಭಕ್ತಿಯುಳ್ಳ ಗ್ರೀಕರೂ ಪ್ರಮುಖರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಮಹಿಳೆಯರೂ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಡಂಬಟ್ಟವರಾಗಿ ಪೌಲ, ಸೀಲರನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಕೊಂಡರು.
5 But the unpersuaded Jews took along some wicked men from the marketplace and gathering a crowd, set the city in an uproar. Assaulting the house of Jason, they sought to bring them out to the people.
ಆದರೆ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಮತ್ಸರದಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿ, ಬೀದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತಿರುಗಾಡುವ ಕೆಲವು ದುಷ್ಟವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಗಲಭೆ ಎಬ್ಬಿಸಿದರು. ಜನಸಮೂಹದ ಮುಂದೆ ಪೌಲ, ಸೀಲರನ್ನು ಎಳೆದು ತರುವಂತೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕುತ್ತಾ ಯಾಸೋನ ಎಂಬುವನ ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ಮುತ್ತಿದರು.
6 When they didn’t find them, they dragged Jason and certain brothers before the rulers of the city, crying, “These who have turned the world upside down have come here also,
ಆದರೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರಿಲ್ಲದಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಅವರು ಯಾಸೋನನನ್ನೂ ಕೆಲವು ಸಹೋದರರನ್ನೂ ಎಳೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದು ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿ, “ಲೋಕವನ್ನು ತಲೆಕೆಳಗೆ ಮಾಡಿರುವ ಈ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೂ ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
7 whom Jason has received. These all act contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, Jesus!”
ಯಾಸೋನನು ಅವರನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಅವರು ಯೇಸು ಎಂಬ ಬೇರೊಬ್ಬ ಅರಸನಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾ ಕೈಸರನ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ,” ಎಂದು ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿ ಕೂಗಿದರು.
8 The multitude and the rulers of the city were troubled when they heard these things.
ಇದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದ ಜನರೂ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳೂ ಕಳವಳಗೊಂಡರು.
9 When they had taken security from Jason and the rest, they let them go.
ಆಮೇಲೆ ಯಾಸೋನನಿಂದಲೂ ಮತ್ತಿತರರಿಂದಲೂ ಜಾಮೀನು ಪಡೆದು ಅವರನ್ನು ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು.
10 The brothers immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Beroea. When they arrived, they went into the Jewish synagogue.
ರಾತ್ರಿಯಾದ ಕೂಡಲೇ, ಸಹೋದರರು ಪೌಲ, ಸೀಲರನ್ನು ಬೆರೋಯಕ್ಕೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದರು. ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಅವರು ತಲುಪಿದಾಗ ಅಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಸಭಾಮಂದಿರಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದರು.
11 Now these were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.
ಬೆರೋಯದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದವರು ಥೆಸಲೋನಿಕದವರಿಗಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಸದ್ಗುಣವುಳ್ಳವರು; ಅವರು ವಾಕ್ಯವನ್ನು ಅತ್ಯಾಸಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಿ, ಇವರು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದು ಸರಿಯಾದದ್ದೋ ಏನೋ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಪ್ರತಿದಿನವೂ ಪವಿತ್ರ ವೇದಗಳನ್ನು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
12 Many of them therefore believed; also of the prominent Greek women, and not a few men.
ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಅನೇಕರು ವಿಶ್ವಾಸ ಹೊಂದಿದರು. ಅನೇಕ ಗ್ರೀಕ್ ಪುರುಷರೂ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರೂ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸವನ್ನಿಟ್ಟರು.
13 But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was proclaimed by Paul at Beroea also, they came there likewise, agitating the multitudes.
ಆದರೆ ಪೌಲನು ದೇವರ ವಾಕ್ಯವನ್ನು ಬೆರೋಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೋಧಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾನೆಂಬುದು ಥೆಸಲೋನಿಕದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿದುಬಂದಾಗ ಅವರು ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೂ ಬಂದು, ಜನಸಮೂಹವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಚೋದಿಸಿ ಗಲಭೆ ಎಬ್ಬಿಸಿದರು.
14 Then the brothers immediately sent out Paul to go as far as to the sea, and Silas and Timothy still stayed there.
ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಸಹೋದರರು ಕೂಡಲೇ ಪೌಲನನ್ನು ಸಮುದ್ರ ತೀರಕ್ಕೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟರು. ಆದರೆ ಸೀಲ ಮತ್ತು ತಿಮೊಥೆ ಬೆರೋಯದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಉಳಿದುಕೊಂಡರು.
15 But those who escorted Paul brought him as far as Athens. Receiving a commandment to Silas and Timothy that they should come to him very quickly, they departed.
ಪೌಲನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಬರಲು ಹೋದವರು ಅವನ ಜೊತೆ ಅಥೇನೆ ಪಟ್ಟಣದವರೆಗೆ ಹೋದರು. ಸೀಲ ಮತ್ತು ತಿಮೊಥೆಯರು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾದಷ್ಟು ಬೇಗನೇ ತನ್ನ ಬಳಿ ಬರಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯನ್ನು ಪೌಲನಿಂದ ಪಡೆದು, ಅವರು ಬೆರೋಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ಹೋದರು.
16 Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him as he saw the city full of idols.
ಪೌಲನು ಅವರಿಗಾಗಿ ಕಾಯುತ್ತಾ ಅಥೇನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದಾಗ, ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣವು ವಿಗ್ರಹಗಳಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದನ್ನು ಕಂಡು, ಅವನ ಆತ್ಮವು ಅವನೊಳಗೆ ಕುದಿಯಿತು.
17 So he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and the devout persons, and in the marketplace every day with those who met him.
ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಸಭಾಮಂದಿರದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರೊಂದಿಗೂ ದೇವಭಕ್ತಿಯುಳ್ಳ ಗ್ರೀಕರೊಂದಿಗೂ ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಬಹಿರಂಗ ಸಂತೆಪೇಟೆ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ದಿನದಿನವೂ ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಜನರೊಂದಿಗೂ ಚರ್ಚೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
18 Some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers also were conversing with him. Some said, “What does this babbler want to say?” Others said, “He seems to be advocating foreign deities,” because he preached Jesus and the resurrection.
ಆದರೆ ಎಪಿಕೂರಿಯರು ಹಾಗೂ ಸ್ತೋಯಿಕರು ಎಂಬ ತತ್ವಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಹ ಕೆಲವರು ಅವನೊಂದಿಗೆ ವಾಗ್ವಾದ ಮಾಡಲು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿ, “ಈ ಬಾಯಿಬಡುಕ ಏನು ಹೇಳಬೇಕೆಂದಿದ್ದಾನೆ?” ಎಂದರು. ಇನ್ನೂ ಕೆಲವರು, “ಅವನು ವಿದೇಶದ ದೇವರುಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾಪಿಸುವಂತೆ ತೋರುತ್ತದೆ,” ಎಂದರು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವನು ಯೇಸುವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಪುನರುತ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ಕುರಿತ ಸುವಾರ್ತೆ ಸಾರುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
19 They took hold of him and brought him to the Areopagus, saying, “May we know what this new teaching is, which you are speaking about?
ಆಗ ಅವರು ಪೌಲನನ್ನು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅರಿಯೊಪಾಗ ಎಂಬ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು, “ನೀನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿರುವ ಈ ಹೊಸ ಉಪದೇಶ ಏನೆಂಬುದನ್ನು ನಾವು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದೋ?
20 For you bring certain strange things to our ears. We want to know therefore what these things mean.”
ನೀನು ಕೆಲವು ವಿಚಿತ್ರವಾದ ವಿಚಾರಗಳನ್ನು ನಮಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿರುವೆ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವುಗಳ ಅರ್ಥವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಯಬಯಸುತ್ತೇವೆ,” ಎಂದರು.
21 Now all the Athenians and the strangers living there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell or to hear some new thing.
ಅಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಸಿದ್ದ ಅಥೇನೆಯ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳೂ ವಿದೇಶಿಯರೂ ಹೊಸ ಹೊಸ ವಿಷಯಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಳುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಕೇಳುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಹೊರತು ಇತರ ವಿಷಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಯ ಕಳೆಯುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
22 Paul stood in the middle of the Areopagus and said, “You men of Athens, I perceive that you are very religious in all things.
ಅರಿಯೊಪಾಗದ ಗುಂಪಿನ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿಂತು ಪೌಲನು ಹೀಗೆಂದನು: “ಅಥೇನೆಯ ಜನರೇ! ನೀವು ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದರಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಹೇಗೆ ಬಹು ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕರಾಗಿದ್ದೀರಿ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ನಾನು ಕಂಡುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
23 For as I passed along and observed the objects of your worship, I also found an altar with this inscription: ‘TO AN UNKNOWN GOD.’ What therefore you worship in ignorance, I announce to you.
ನಾನು ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಲೂ ತಿರುಗಾಡುತ್ತಾ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಆರಾಧನಾ ವಿಗ್ರಹಗಳನ್ನು ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯವಿಟ್ಟು ಗಮನಿಸಿದಾಗ, ‘ತಿಳಿಯದ ದೇವರಿಗೆ’ ಎಂಬ ಬರಹವಿದ್ದ ಬಲಿಪೀಠವನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದೆನು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನೀವು ಯಾವುದನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಯದೆ ಪೂಜಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವಿರೋ ಅದನ್ನೇ ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.
24 The God who made the world and all things in it, he, being Lord of heaven and earth, doesn’t dwell in temples made with hands.
“ಜಗತ್ತನ್ನೂ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸಮಸ್ತವನ್ನೂ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿದ ದೇವರು ಇಹಪರಲೋಕಗಳ ಅಧಿಪತಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರು ಕೈಗಳಿಂದ ಕಟ್ಟಿದ ದೇವಾಲಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸುವವರಲ್ಲ.
25 He isn’t served by men’s hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he himself gives to all life and breath and all things.
ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಏನಾದರೂ ಅವಶ್ಯಕತೆಯಿರುವಂತೆ ಮಾನವ ಹಸ್ತಗಳ ಸೇವೆಯು ಅಗತ್ಯವಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ದೇವರೇ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಜೀವವನ್ನೂ ಉಸಿರನ್ನೂ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದನ್ನೂ ದಯಪಾಲಿಸಿರುವುದರಿಂದ,
26 He made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the surface of the earth, having determined appointed seasons and the boundaries of their dwellings,
ದೇವರು ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಂದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ದೇಶಗಳನ್ನು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿ, ಜನರು ಇಡೀ ಭೂಲೋಕವನ್ನು ತುಂಬಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು; ಅವರವರು ಇರತಕ್ಕ ಕಾಲಾವಧಿಯನ್ನೂ ವಾಸಿಸಲು ನಿರ್ದಿಷ್ಟ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳನ್ನೂ ನೇಮಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
27 that they should seek the Lord, if perhaps they might reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.
ದೇವರು ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರಿಂದಲೂ ದೂರವಾಗಿಲ್ಲವಾದರೂ ದೇವರನ್ನು ನಾವು ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸುವಂತೆ ನಾವು ದೇವರನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಿ ಕಂಡುಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆ ಹೀಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು.
28 ‘For in him we live, move, and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his offspring.’
ಏಕೆಂದರೆ, ‘ನಾವು ಜೀವಿಸುವುದೂ ಚಲಿಸುವುದೂ ಇರುವುದೂ ದೇವರಲ್ಲಿಯೇ.’ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕವಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ಹೇಳಿರುವಂತೆ, ‘ನಾವು ನಿಜಕ್ಕೂ ದೇವರ ಮಕ್ಕಳೇ ಆಗಿದ್ದೇವೆ.’
29 Being then the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold, or silver, or stone, engraved by art and design of man.
“ನಾವು ದೇವರ ಮಕ್ಕಳಾಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ, ಮಾನವ ಕಲ್ಪನೆ, ಕುಶಲತೆಯಿಂದ ರೂಪಿಸಿದ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿ, ಬಂಗಾರ, ಶಿಲೆಯ ಮೂರ್ತಿಯಂತೆ ದೇವರು ಇದ್ದಾರೆಂದು ನಾವು ಭಾವಿಸಬಾರದು.
30 The times of ignorance therefore God overlooked. But now he commands that all people everywhere should repent,
ಇಂಥಾ ಅಜ್ಞಾನ ಕಾಲವನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಿನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಗಮನಕ್ಕೆ ತಂದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ಈಗ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕಡೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸರ್ವಮಾನವರೂ ಪಶ್ಚಾತ್ತಾಪ ಪಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ದೇವರು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
31 because he has appointed a day in which he will judge the world in righteousness by the man whom he has ordained; of which he has given assurance to all men, in that he has raised him from the dead.”
ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ದೇವರು ನೇಮಿಸಿದ ಒಬ್ಬರ ಮುಖಾಂತರ ಇಡೀ ಜಗತ್ತಿಗೆ ನೀತಿಗನುಸಾರವಾಗಿ ನ್ಯಾಯತೀರ್ಪು ಮಾಡುವ ಒಂದು ದಿನವನ್ನು ನೇಮಕ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇದನ್ನು ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಖಚಿತ ಪಡಿಸಲೆಂದೇ ಆ ಒಬ್ಬರನ್ನು ಸತ್ತವರೊಳಗಿಂದ ಜೀವಂತವಾಗಿ ಎಬ್ಬಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.”
32 Now when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked; but others said, “We want to hear you again concerning this.”
ಸತ್ತವರ ಪುನರುತ್ಥಾನದ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ, ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ಪರಿಹಾಸ್ಯ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಇತರರು, “ನಾವು ಇನ್ನೊಮ್ಮೆ ಈ ವಿಷಯದ ಮೇಲೆ ನೀನು ಮಾತನಾಡುವುದನ್ನು ಕೇಳುತ್ತೇವೆ,” ಎಂದರು.
33 Thus Paul went out from among them.
ಹೀಗಿರಲು ಪೌಲನು ಅವರ ಮಧ್ಯದಿಂದ ಹೊರಟುಹೋದನು.
34 But certain men joined with him and believed, including Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.
ಆದರೆ ಕೆಲವರು ಪೌಲನನ್ನು ಅಂಟಿಕೊಂಡು ದೇವರಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸವನ್ನಿಟ್ಟರು. ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಅರಿಯೊಪಾಗದ ದಿಯೊನುಸ್ಯನು ಮತ್ತು ದಾಮರಿ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿನ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮಹಿಳೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಇನ್ನಿತರರೂ ಇದ್ದರು.
