Acts 15
1 Some men came down from Judea and taught the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised after the custom of Moses, you can’t be saved.”
ENTONCES algunos que venian de Judéa enseñaban á los hermanos: Que si no os circuncidais, conforme al rito de Moisés, no podeis ser salvos.
2 Therefore when Paul and Barnabas had no small discord and discussion with them, they appointed Paul, Barnabas, and some others of them to go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and elders about this question.
Así que suscitada una disension y contienda no pequeña á Pablo y á Bernabé contra ellos, determinaron que subiesen Pablo y Bernabé á Jerusalem, y algunos otros de ellos, á los apóstoles y á los ancianos sobre esta cuestion.
3 They, being sent on their way by the assembly, passed through both Phoenicia and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles. They caused great joy to all the brothers.
Ellos, pues habiendo sido acompañados de la iglesia [al salir, ] pasaron por la Fenicia y Samaria, contando la conversion de los Gentiles, y daban gran gozo á todos los hermanos.
4 When they had come to Jerusalem, they were received by the assembly and the apostles and the elders, and they reported everything that God had done with them.
Y llegados á Jerusalem, fueron recibidos de la iglesia, y de los apóstoles, y de los ancianos: y refirieron todas las cosas que Dios habla hecho con ellos.
5 But some of the sect of the Pharisees who believed rose up, saying, “It is necessary to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.”
Mas algunos de la secta de los Fariséos, que habian creido, se levantaron diciendo: Que es menester circuncidarlos, y mandar[les] que guarden la ley de Moisés.
6 The apostles and the elders were gathered together to see about this matter.
Y se juntaron los apóstoles y los ancianos para conocer de este negocio.
7 When there had been much discussion, Peter rose up and said to them, “Brothers, you know that a good while ago God made a choice among you that by my mouth the nations should hear the word of the Good News and believe.
Y habiendo habido grande contienda, levantándose Pedro, les dijo: Varones hermanos, vosotros sabeis como ya hace algun tiempo que Dios escogió que los Gentiles oyesen por mi boca la palabra del Evangelio, y creyesen.
8 God, who knows the heart, testified about them, giving them the Holy Spirit, just like he did to us.
Y Dios, que conoce los corazones les dió testimonio, dándoles el Espíritu Santo tambien como á nosotros:
9 He made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith.
Y ninguna diferencia hizo entre nosotros y ellos, purificando con la fé sus corazones.
10 Now therefore why do you tempt God, that you should put a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
Ahora pues, ¿por qué tentais á Dios poniendo yugo sobre la cerviz de los discípulos, que ni nuestros padres ni nosotros hemos podido llevar?
11 But we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, just as they are.”
Antes por la gracia del Señor Jesus creemos que serémos salvos, como tambien ellos.
12 All the multitude kept silence, and they listened to Barnabas and Paul reporting what signs and wonders God had done among the nations through them.
Entónces toda la multitud calló, y oyeron á Bernabé y á Pablo que contaban cuán grandes maravillas y señales Dios habia hecho por ellos entre los Gentiles.
13 After they were silent, James answered, “Brothers, listen to me.
Y despues que hubieron callado, Jacobo respondió diciendo: Varones hermanos, oidme.
14 Simeon has reported how God first visited the nations to take out of them a people for his name.
Simon ha contado cómo Dios primero visitó á los Gentiles, para tomar de ellos pueblo para su nombre.
15 This agrees with the words of the prophets. As it is written,
Y con esto concuerdan las palabras de los profetas, como está escrito:
16 ‘After these things I will return. I will again build the tabernacle of David, which has fallen. I will again build its ruins. I will set it up
Despues de esto volveré, y restauraré la habitacion de David que estaba caida, y repararé sus ruinas, y la volveré á levantar;
17 that the rest of men may seek after the Lord: all the Gentiles who are called by my name, says the Lord, who does all these things.’
Para que el resto de los hombres busque al Señor, y todos los Gentiles sobre los cuales es llamado mi nombre, dice el Señor, que hace estas cosas.
Conocidas son á Dios desde el siglo todas sus obras. (aiōn g165)
19 Therefore my judgment is that we don’t trouble those from among the Gentiles who turn to God,
Por lo cual yo juzgo, que los que de los Gentiles se convierten á Dios, no han de ser inquietados;
20 but that we write to them that they abstain from the pollution of idols, from sexual immorality, from what is strangled, and from blood.
Sino escribirles que se aparten de las contaminaciones de los ídolos, y de fornicacion, y de ahogado, y de sangre.
21 For Moses from generations of old has in every city those who preach him, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath.”
Porque Moisés desde los tiempos antiguos tiene en cada ciudad quien le predique en las sinagogas, donde es leido cada Sábado.
22 Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole assembly, to choose men out of their company, and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas: Judas called Barsabbas, and Silas, chief men among the brothers.
Entónces pareció bien a los apóstoles, y á los ancianos con toda la iglesia, elegir varones de ellos, y enviar[los] á Antioquia con Pablo, y Bernabé; á Júdas, que tenia por sobrenombre Barsabas, y á Silas, varones principales entre los hermanos;
23 They wrote these things by their hand: “The apostles, the elders, and the brothers, to the brothers who are of the Gentiles in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia: greetings.
Y escribir por mano de ellos [así: ] los apóstoles y los ancianos y los hermanos, á los hermanos de los Gentiles, que están en Antioquía, y en Siria, y en Cilicia, salud:
24 Because we have heard that some who went out from us have troubled you with words, unsettling your souls, saying, ‘You must be circumcised and keep the law,’ to whom we gave no commandment;
Por cuanto hemos oido que algunos, que han salido de nosotros, os han inquietado con palabras, trastornando vuestras almas, mandando circuncidaros y guardar la ley, á los cuales no mandamos;
25 it seemed good to us, having come to one accord, to choose out men and send them to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,
Nos ha parecido, congregados en uno, elegir varones, y enviarles á vosotros con nuestros amados Bernabé y Pablo,
26 men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Hombres que han expuesto sus vidas por el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesu-Cristo.
27 We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who themselves will also tell you the same things by word of mouth.
Así que, enviamos á Júdas, y á Silas, los cuales tambien por palabra [os] harán saber lo mismo.
28 For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay no greater burden on you than these necessary things:
Que ha parecido bien al Espíritu Santo, y á nosotros, no imponeros ninguna carga mas que estas cosas necesarias:
29 that you abstain from things sacrificed to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality, from which if you keep yourselves, it will be well with you. Farewell.”
Que os abstengais de cosas sacrificadas á ídolos, y de sangre, y de ahogado, y de fornicacion; de las cuales cosas si os guardareis, bien haréis. Pasadlo bien.
30 So, when they were sent off, they came to Antioch. Having gathered the multitude together, they delivered the letter.
Ellos entónces enviados, descendieron á Antioquia, y juntando la multitud, dieron la carta.
31 When they had read it, they rejoiced over the encouragement.
La cual, como leyeron, fueron gozosos de la consolacion.
32 Judas and Silas, also being prophets themselves, encouraged the brothers with many words and strengthened them.
Júdas tambien y Silas, como ellos tambien eran profetas, consolaron y confirmaron los hermanos con abundancia de palabra.
33 After they had spent some time there, they were dismissed in peace from the brothers to the apostles.
Y pasando [allí] algun tiempo, fueron enviados de los hermanos á los apóstoles en paz.
Mas á Silas pareció bien de quedarse allí.
35 But Paul and Barnabas stayed in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.
Y Pablo y Bernabé se estaban en Antioquia enseñando la palabra del Señor, y anunciando el Evangelio con otros muchos.
36 After some days Paul said to Barnabas, “Let’s return now and visit our brothers in every city in which we proclaimed the word of the Lord, to see how they are doing.”
Y despues de algunos dias Pablo dijo á Bernabé: Volvamos á visitar los hermanos por todas las ciudades en las cuales hemos anunciado la palabra del Señor, cómo están.
37 Barnabas planned to take John, who was called Mark, with them also.
Y Bernabé queria que tomasen consigo á Juan, el que tenia por sobrenombre Marcos;
38 But Paul didn’t think that it was a good idea to take with them someone who had withdrawn from them in Pamphylia, and didn’t go with them to do the work.
Mas á Pablo no le parecia bien llevar consigo al que se habia apartado de ellos desde Pamphylia, y no habia ido con ellos á la obra.
39 Then the contention grew so sharp that they separated from each other. Barnabas took Mark with him and sailed away to Cyprus,
Y hubo tal contencion entre ellos, que se apartaron el uno del otro; y Bernabé tomando á Marcos, navegó á Cipro,
40 but Paul chose Silas and went out, being commended by the brothers to the grace of God.
Y Pablo escogiendo á Silas, partió encomendado de los hermanos á la gracia del Señor.
41 He went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the assemblies.
Y anduvo la Siria y la Cilicia confirmando las iglesias.
