Acts 15
1 Some men came down from Judea and taught the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised after the custom of Moses, you can’t be saved.”
Habían bajado algunos de Judea que enseñaban a los hermanos: “Si no os circuncidáis según el rito de Moisés, no podéis salvaros”.
2 Therefore when Paul and Barnabas had no small discord and discussion with them, they appointed Paul, Barnabas, and some others of them to go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and elders about this question.
Pablo y Bernabé tuvieron con ellos no poca disensión y controversia. Por lo cual resolvieron que Pablo y Bernabé y algunos otros de entre ellos subieran a Jerusalén por causa de esta cuestión, a los apóstoles y presbíteros.
3 They, being sent on their way by the assembly, passed through both Phoenicia and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles. They caused great joy to all the brothers.
Ellos, pues, despedidos por la Iglesia, pasaron por Fenicia y Samaria, relatando la conversión de los gentiles y llenando de gran gozo a todos los hermanos.
4 When they had come to Jerusalem, they were received by the assembly and the apostles and the elders, and they reported everything that God had done with them.
Llegados a Jerusalén fueron acogidos por la Iglesia y los apóstoles y los presbíteros, y refirieron todas las cosas que Dios había hecho con ellos.
5 But some of the sect of the Pharisees who believed rose up, saying, “It is necessary to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.”
Pero se levantaron algunos de la secta de los fariseos que habían abrazado la fe, los cuales decían: “Es necesario circuncidarlos y mandarlos observar la Ley de Moisés”.
6 The apostles and the elders were gathered together to see about this matter.
Congregáronse entonces los apóstoles y presbíteros para deliberar sobre este asunto.
7 When there had been much discussion, Peter rose up and said to them, “Brothers, you know that a good while ago God made a choice among you that by my mouth the nations should hear the word of the Good News and believe.
Después de larga discusión se levantó Pedro y les dijo: “Varones, hermanos, vosotros sabéis que desde días antiguos Dios dispuso entre vosotros que los gentiles oyesen por mi boca la palabra del Evangelio y llegasen a la fe.
8 God, who knows the heart, testified about them, giving them the Holy Spirit, just like he did to us.
Y Dios, que conoce los corazones, les dio testimonio dándoles el Espíritu Santo, del mismo modo que a nosotros,
9 He made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith.
y no ha hecho diferencia entre ellos y nosotros, puesto que ha purificado sus corazones por la fe.
10 Now therefore why do you tempt God, that you should put a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
Ahora, pues, ¿por qué tentáis a Dios poniendo sobre el cuello de los discípulos un yugo que ni nuestros padres ni nosotros hemos podido soportar?
11 But we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, just as they are.”
Lejos de eso, creemos ser salvados por la gracia del Señor Jesús, y así también ellos”.
12 All the multitude kept silence, and they listened to Barnabas and Paul reporting what signs and wonders God had done among the nations through them.
Guardó entonces silencio toda la asamblea y escucharon a Bernabé y a Pablo, los que refirieron cuántos milagros y prodigios había hecho Dios entre los gentiles por medio de ellos.
13 After they were silent, James answered, “Brothers, listen to me.
Después que ellos callaron, tomó Santiago la palabra y dijo: “Varones, hermanos, escuchadme.
14 Simeon has reported how God first visited the nations to take out of them a people for his name.
Simeón ha declarado cómo primero Dios ha visitado a los gentiles para escoger de entre ellos un pueblo consagrado a su nombre.
15 This agrees with the words of the prophets. As it is written,
Con esto concuerdan las palabras de los profetas, según está escrito:
16 ‘After these things I will return. I will again build the tabernacle of David, which has fallen. I will again build its ruins. I will set it up
«Después de esto volveré, y reedificaré el tabernáculo de David que está caído; reedificaré sus ruinas y lo levantaré de nuevo,
17 that the rest of men may seek after the Lord: all the Gentiles who are called by my name, says the Lord, who does all these things.’
para que busque al Señor el resto de los hombres, y todas las naciones sobre las cuales ha sido invocado mi nombre, dice el Señor que hace estas cosas,
conocidas ( por Él ) desde la eternidad». (aiōn g165)
19 Therefore my judgment is that we don’t trouble those from among the Gentiles who turn to God,
Por lo cual yo juzgo que no se moleste a los gentiles que se convierten a Dios,
20 but that we write to them that they abstain from the pollution of idols, from sexual immorality, from what is strangled, and from blood.
sino que se les escriba que se abstengan de las inmundicias de los ídolos, de la fornicación, de lo ahogado y de la sangre.
21 For Moses from generations of old has in every city those who preach him, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath.”
Porque Moisés tiene desde generaciones antiguas en cada ciudad hombres que lo predican, puesto que en las sinagogas él es leído todos los sábados”.
22 Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole assembly, to choose men out of their company, and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas: Judas called Barsabbas, and Silas, chief men among the brothers.
Pareció entonces bien a los apóstoles y a los presbíteros, con toda la Iglesia, elegir algunos de entre ellos y enviarlos con Pablo y Bernabé a Antioquía: a Judas, llamado Barsabás, y a Silas, hombres destacados entre los hermanos;
23 They wrote these things by their hand: “The apostles, the elders, and the brothers, to the brothers who are of the Gentiles in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia: greetings.
y por conducto de ellos les escribieron: “Los apóstoles y los presbíteros hermanos, a los hermanos de la gentilidad, que están en Antioquía, Siria y Cilicia, salud.
24 Because we have heard that some who went out from us have troubled you with words, unsettling your souls, saying, ‘You must be circumcised and keep the law,’ to whom we gave no commandment;
Por cuanto hemos oído que algunos de los nuestros, sin que les hubiésemos dado mandato, fueron y os alarmaron con palabras, perturbando vuestras almas,
25 it seemed good to us, having come to one accord, to choose out men and send them to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,
hemos resuelto, de común acuerdo, escoger algunos, para enviarlos a vosotros juntamente con nuestros amados Bernabé y Pablo,
26 men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
hombres ( estos ) que han expuesto sus vidas por el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
27 We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who themselves will also tell you the same things by word of mouth.
Hemos enviado, pues, a Judas y a Silas, los cuales también de palabra os anunciarán lo mismo.
28 For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay no greater burden on you than these necessary things:
Porque ha parecido bien al Espíritu Santo y a nosotros no imponeros otra carga fuera de estas necesarias:
29 that you abstain from things sacrificed to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality, from which if you keep yourselves, it will be well with you. Farewell.”
que os abstengáis de manjares ofrecidos a los ídolos, de la sangre, de lo ahogado y de la fornicación; guardándoos de lo cual os irá bien. Adiós”.
30 So, when they were sent off, they came to Antioch. Having gathered the multitude together, they delivered the letter.
Así despachados descendieron a Antioquía, y convocando la asamblea entregaron la epístola;
31 When they had read it, they rejoiced over the encouragement.
y al leerla, hubo regocijo por el consuelo ( que les llevaba ).
32 Judas and Silas, also being prophets themselves, encouraged the brothers with many words and strengthened them.
Judas y Silas, que eran también profetas, exhortaron a los hermanos con muchas palabras y los fortalecieron.
33 After they had spent some time there, they were dismissed in peace from the brothers to the apostles.
Después de haberse detenido algún tiempo, fueron despedidos en paz por los hermanos y volvieron a los que los habían enviado.
Pero Silas creyó deber quedarse; Judas solo partió para Jerusalén.
35 But Paul and Barnabas stayed in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.
Mas Pablo y Bernabé se quedaron en Antioquía, enseñando y predicando con otros muchos la palabra del Señor.
36 After some days Paul said to Barnabas, “Let’s return now and visit our brothers in every city in which we proclaimed the word of the Lord, to see how they are doing.”
Pasados algunos días, dijo Pablo a Bernabé: “Volvamos y visitemos a los hermanos por todas las ciudades donde hemos predicado la palabra del Señor, ( para ver ) cómo se hallan”.
37 Barnabas planned to take John, who was called Mark, with them also.
Bernabé quería llevar también a Juan, llamado Marcos.
38 But Paul didn’t think that it was a good idea to take with them someone who had withdrawn from them in Pamphylia, and didn’t go with them to do the work.
Pablo, empero, opinaba no llevarle más, pues se había separado de ellos desde Panfilia y no los había seguido en el trabajo.
39 Then the contention grew so sharp that they separated from each other. Barnabas took Mark with him and sailed away to Cyprus,
Originose, pues, una disensión tal, que se apartaron uno de otro, y Bernabé tomó consigo a Marcos y se embarcó para Chipre.
40 but Paul chose Silas and went out, being commended by the brothers to the grace of God.
Pablo, por su parte, eligió a Silas y emprendió viaje después de haber sido recomendados por los hermanos a la gracia del Señor;
41 He went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the assemblies.
y recorrió la Siria y la Cilicia confirmando las Iglesias.
