Acts 11
1 Now the apostles and the brothers who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.
Die Apostel und die Brüder in Judäa hörten, daß auch die Heiden das Wort Gottes angenommen hätten.
2 When Peter had come up to Jerusalem, those who were of the circumcision contended with him,
Und als Petrus hinauf nach Jerusalem kam, stritten die aus der Beschneidung mit ihm und sagten:
3 saying, “You went in to uncircumcised men and ate with them!”
Du bist zu Männern eingegangen, welche die Vorhaut haben, und hast gegessen mit ihnen.
4 But Peter began, and explained to them in order, saying,
Petrus aber hob an und berichtete ihnen den Verlauf der Dinge also:
5 “I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision: a certain container descending, like it was a great sheet let down from heaven by four corners. It came as far as me.
Ich war in der Stadt Joppe im Gebet und sah in einer Entzückung ein Gesicht: ein Gefäß wie ein großes Linnentuch kam vom Himmel herab und ward an vier Enden niedergelassen und kam bis zu mir,
6 When I had looked intently at it, I considered, and saw the four-footed animals of the earth, wild animals, creeping things, and birds of the sky.
Ich sah darauf hin, ward gewahr, und sah vierfüßige Tiere der Erde und Gewild und Kriechtiere und Gevögel des Himmels.
7 I also heard a voice saying to me, ‘Rise, Peter, kill and eat!’
Da hörte ich eine Stimme zu mir sprechen: Stehe auf, Petrus, schlachte und iß!
8 But I said, ‘Not so, Lord, for nothing unholy or unclean has ever entered into my mouth.’
Ich sprach aber: Nimmermehr, Herr, denn noch nie ist Gemeines oder Unreines in meinen Mund gekommen.
9 But a voice answered me the second time out of heaven, ‘What God has cleansed, don’t you call unclean.’
Zum zweitenmal aber kam eine Stimme vom Himmel: Was Gott rein gemacht, das mache du nicht gemein.
10 This was done three times, and all were drawn up again into heaven.
Dies geschah zu drei Malen; und alles ward wieder in den Himmel hinaufgezogen.
11 Behold, immediately three men stood before the house where I was, having been sent from Caesarea to me.
Und siehe, zur selben Stunde standen drei Männer vor dem Hause, darin ich war. Sie waren von Cäsarea an mich abgesandt.
12 The Spirit told me to go with them without discriminating. These six brothers also accompanied me, and we entered into the man’s house.
Der Geist aber hieß mich ohne Bedenken mit ihnen gehen; es kamen aber mit mir auch die sechs Brüder da, und wir traten in das Haus des Mannes.
13 He told us how he had seen the angel standing in his house and saying to him, ‘Send to Joppa and get Simon, who is called Peter,
Und er sagte uns an, wie er einen Engel in seinem Hause stehen sah, und derselbe zu ihm sprach: Sende nach Joppe und rufe Simon, mit dem Zunamen Petrus, zu dir,
14 who will speak to you words by which you will be saved, you and all your house.’
Der wird Worte zu dir reden, durch die du mit deinem ganzen Haus wirst selig werden.
15 As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them, even as on us at the beginning.
Als ich nun anfing zu reden, fiel der Heilige Geist auf sie, wie auch auf uns am Anfang.
16 I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, ‘John indeed baptized in water, but you will be baptized in the Holy Spirit.’
Da gedachte ich an das Wort des Herrn, das Er sprach: Johannes hat mit Wasser getauft, ihr aber sollt mit dem Heiligen Geiste getauft werden.
17 If then God gave to them the same gift as us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I, that I could withstand God?”
So nun Gott ihnen die gleiche Gabe verlieh, wie auch uns, die an den Herrn Jesus Christus glaubten, wie hätte ich vermocht, Gott zu wehren?
18 When they heard these things, they held their peace and glorified God, saying, “Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life!”
Als sie diese Worte hörten, gaben sie sich zufrieden, lobten Gott und sprachen: So hat denn Gott auch den Heiden die Buße zum Leben gegeben.
19 They therefore who were scattered abroad by the oppression that arose about Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except to Jews only.
Die nun, welche sich zerstreut hatten wegen der Verfolgung, die sich über Stephanus erhob, zogen umher bis Phönizien, Zypern und Antiochia, und trugen niemand, als Juden, das Wort vor.
20 But there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who, when they had come to Antioch, spoke to the Hellenists, preaching the Lord Jesus.
Es waren aber etliche unter ihnen, Männer aus Zypern und Cyrene, die nach Antiochia kamen und auch zu den Griechen redeten und die Heilsbotschaft vom Herrn Jesus verkündeten.
21 The hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed and turned to the Lord.
Und die Hand des Herrn war mit ihnen, und eine große Zahl ward gläubig und bekehrte sich zum Herrn.
22 The report concerning them came to the ears of the assembly which was in Jerusalem. They sent out Barnabas to go as far as Antioch,
Es kam aber die Rede davon der Gemeinde in Jerusalem zu Ohren, und sie sandten Barnabas ab, daß er bis nach Antiochien zöge.
23 who, when he had come, and had seen the grace of God, was glad. He exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they should remain near to the Lord.
Als er dahin kam und die Gnade Gottes sah, ward er erfreut, und ermahnte alle, mit Festigkeit des Herzens beim Herrn zu verharren.
24 For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Spirit and of faith, and many people were added to the Lord.
Denn er war ein wackerer Mann und voll Heiligen Geistes und Glaubens, und eine große Menge ward dem Herrn zugetan.
25 Barnabas went out to Tarsus to look for Saul.
Von da ging er aus gen Tarsus, um Saul aufzusuchen; und da er ihn gefunden, führte er ihn gen Antiochia.
26 When he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. For a whole year they were gathered together with the assembly, and taught many people. The disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.
Ein ganzes Jahr blieben sie mit der Gemeinde zusammen, lehrten viel Volk, und brachten es dahin, daß die Jünger in Antiochia zuerst Christen genannt wurden.
27 Now in these days, prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch.
In selbigen Tagen aber kamen Propheten von Jerusalem herab nach Antiochien.
28 One of them named Agabus stood up and indicated by the Spirit that there should be a great famine all over the world, which also happened in the days of Claudius.
Einer von ihnen, mit Namen Agabus, trat auf und deutete durch den Geist, daß über alles Land eine große Teuerung kommen würde, die auch eintrat unter Claudius.
29 As any of the disciples had plenty, each determined to send relief to the brothers who lived in Judea;
Von den Jüngern aber beschloß ein jeder, je nach seinem Vermögen eine Unterstützung zu senden den Brüdern, die in Judäa wohnten;
30 which they also did, sending it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.
Was sie auch taten, indem sie solche durch Barnabas und Saulus absendeten.
