Acts 10
1 Now there was a certain man in Caesarea, Cornelius by name, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment,
Y había un varón en Cesarea llamado Cornelio, centurión de la compañía que se llamaba la Italiana,
2 a devout man, and one who feared God with all his house, who gave gifts for the needy generously to the people, and always prayed to God.
Piadoso, y temeroso de Dios con toda su casa, y que hacía muchas limosnas al pueblo, y que oraba a Dios siempre.
3 At about the ninth hour of the day, he clearly saw in a vision an angel of God coming to him and saying to him, “Cornelius!”
Este vio en visión manifiestamente, como a la hora de nona del día, a un ángel de Dios que entraba a él, y le decía: Cornelio.
4 He, fastening his eyes on him and being frightened, said, “What is it, Lord?” He said to him, “Your prayers and your gifts to the needy have gone up for a memorial before God.
Y él, puestos en él los ojos, espantado, dijo: ¿Qué es esto, Señor? Y le dijo: Tus oraciones y tus limosnas han subido en memoria a la presencia de Dios.
5 Now send men to Joppa, and get Simon, who is also called Peter.
Envía pues ahora varones a Joppe, y haz venir a un tal Simón, que tiene por sobrenombre Pedro.
6 He is staying with a tanner named Simon, whose house is by the seaside.
Este posa en casa de un cierto Simón, curtidor, que tiene su casa junto a la mar: él te dirá lo que debes hacer.
7 When the angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called two of his household servants and a devout soldier of those who waited on him continually.
E ido el ángel que hablaba con Cornelio, llamó a dos de sus criados, y a un soldado temeroso del Señor, de los que estaban siempre con él.
8 Having explained everything to them, he sent them to Joppa.
A los cuales, después de habérselo contado todo, los envió a Joppe.
9 Now on the next day as they were on their journey and got close to the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray at about noon.
Y un día después, yendo ellos de camino, y llegando cerca de la ciudad, Pedro subió sobre la casa a orar, cerca de la hora de sexta.
10 He became hungry and desired to eat, but while they were preparing, he fell into a trance.
Y aconteció que le vino una grande hambre, y quiso comer, y aparejándoselo ellos, cayó en un éxtasis.
11 He saw heaven opened and a certain container descending to him, like a great sheet let down by four corners on the earth,
Y vio el cielo abierto, y que descendía a él un vaso, como un gran lienzo, que atado de los cuatro cantos fue abajado del cielo a la tierra:
12 in which were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild animals, reptiles, and birds of the sky.
En el cual había de todos los animales cuadrúpedos de la tierra, y fieras, y reptiles, y aves del cielo.
13 A voice came to him, “Rise, Peter, kill and eat!”
Y le vino una voz, diciendo: Levántate, Pedro, mata, y come.
14 But Peter said, “Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean.”
Entonces Pedro dijo: Señor, no; porque ninguna cosa común, ni inmunda, he comido jamás.
15 A voice came to him again the second time, “What God has cleansed, you must not call unclean.”
Y volvió la voz a decir le la segunda vez: Lo que Dios limpió, no lo llames tú común.
16 This was done three times, and immediately the thing was received up into heaven.
Y esto fue hecho por tres veces; y el vaso volvió a ser recogido en el cielo.
17 Now while Peter was very perplexed in himself what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold, the men who were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon’s house, stood before the gate,
Y estando Pedro dudando dentro de sí, que sería la visión que había visto, he aquí, los varones que habían sido enviados por Cornelio, que preguntando por la casa de Simón, llegaron a la puerta.
18 and called and asked whether Simon, who was also called Peter, was lodging there.
Y llamando, preguntaron, si Simón, que tenía por sobrenombre Pedro, posaba allí.
19 While Peter was pondering the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three men seek you.
Y estando Pedro pensando en la visión, le dijo el Espíritu: He aquí, tres varones te buscan.
20 But arise, get down, and go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them.”
Levántate pues, y desciende, y no dudes de ir con ellos, porque yo los he enviado.
21 Peter went down to the men, and said, “Behold, I am he whom you seek. Why have you come?”
Entonces Pedro descendiendo a los varones que le eran enviados por Cornelio, dijo: He aquí, yo soy el que buscáis: ¿qué es la causa por qué habéis venido?
22 They said, “Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous man and one who fears God, and well spoken of by all the nation of the Jews, was directed by a holy angel to invite you to his house, and to listen to what you say.”
Y ellos dijeron: Cornelio, el centurión, varón justo, y temeroso de Dios, y de buen testimonio entre toda la nación de los Judíos, ha sido amonestado de Dios por un santo ángel, que te hiciese venir a su casa, y oyese de ti algunas palabras.
23 So he called them in and provided a place to stay. On the next day Peter arose and went out with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa accompanied him.
Pedro entonces metiéndolos dentro, los hospedó: y al día siguiente se fue con ellos; y le acompañaron algunos de los hermanos de Joppe.
24 On the next day they entered into Caesarea. Cornelius was waiting for them, having called together his relatives and his near friends.
Y al otro día después entraron en Cesarea. Y Cornelio los estaba esperando, habiendo llamado a sus parientes, y a los amigos más familiares.
25 When Peter entered, Cornelius met him, fell down at his feet, and worshiped him.
Y como Pedro entró, Cornelio le salió a recibir; y derribándose a sus pies, le adoró.
26 But Peter raised him up, saying, “Stand up! I myself am also a man.”
Mas Pedro le levantó, diciendo: Álzate, que yo mismo también soy hombre.
27 As he talked with him, he went in and found many gathered together.
Y hablando con él, entró; y halló a muchos que se habían juntado.
28 He said to them, “You yourselves know how it is an unlawful thing for a man who is a Jew to join himself or come to one of another nation, but God has shown me that I shouldn’t call any man unholy or unclean.
Y les dijo: Vosotros sabéis, que no es lícito a un hombre Judío juntarse, o llegarse a uno de otra nación; mas me ha mostrado Dios, que a ningún hombre llame común o inmundo.
29 Therefore I also came without complaint when I was sent for. I ask therefore, why did you send for me?”
Por lo cual llamado, he venido sin vacilar. Así que pregunto, ¿por qué causa me habéis hecho venir?
30 Cornelius said, “Four days ago, I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour, I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing
Entonces Cornelio dijo: Cuatro días ha que a esta hora yo estaba ayunando; y a la hora de nona estando orando en mi casa, he aquí, un varón se puso delante de mí en vestido resplandeciente,
31 and said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer is heard, and your gifts to the needy are remembered in the sight of God.
Y dijo: Cornelio, tu oración es oída, y tus limosnas han venido en memoria a la presencia de Dios.
32 Send therefore to Joppa and summon Simon, who is also called Peter. He is staying in the house of a tanner named Simon, by the seaside. When he comes, he will speak to you.’
Envía pues a Joppe, y haz venir a Simón, que tiene por sobrenombre Pedro: éste posa en casa de Simón, curtidor, junto a la mar, el cual venido, te hablará.
33 Therefore I sent to you at once, and it was good of you to come. Now therefore we are all here present in the sight of God to hear all things that have been commanded you by God.”
Así que, envié luego a ti; y tú has hecho bien viniendo. Ahora, pues, todos nosotros estamos aquí en la presencia de Dios para oír todo lo que Dios te ha mandado.
34 Peter opened his mouth and said, “Truly I perceive that God doesn’t show favoritism;
Entonces Pedro, abriendo su boca, dijo: Hallo por verdad, que Dios no hace acepción de personas:
35 but in every nation he who fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.
Sino que de cualquiera nación, el que le teme y obra justicia, es de su agrado.
36 The word which he sent to the children of Israel, preaching good news of peace by Jesus Christ—he is Lord of all—
La palabra que Dios envió a los hijos de Israel, anunciando la paz por Jesu Cristo: (este es el Señor de todos: )
37 you yourselves know what happened, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
Vosotros sabéis, es decir, la cosa que ha sido hecha por toda Judea, comenzando desde Galilea, después del bautismo que Juan predicó:
38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.
A Jesús de Nazaret, como le ungió Dios del Espíritu Santo, y de poder, el cual pasó haciendo bienes, y sanando a todos los oprimidos del diablo; porque Dios era con él.
39 We are witnesses of everything he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem; whom they also killed, hanging him on a tree.
Y nosotros somos testigos de todas las cosas que hizo en la tierra de Judea, y en Jerusalem, al cual mataron colgándole en un madero.
40 God raised him up the third day and gave him to be revealed,
A éste Dios le levantó al tercero día, e hizo que apareciese manifiestamente:
41 not to all the people, but to witnesses who were chosen before by God, to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.
No a todo el pueblo, sino a los testigos que Dios antes había ordenado, es a saber, a nosotros, que comimos, y bebimos juntamente con él, después que resucitó de entre los muertos.
42 He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that this is he who is appointed by God as the Judge of the living and the dead.
Y nos mandó que predicásemos al pueblo, y testificásemos que él es el que Dios ha puesto por Juez de vivos y muertos.
43 All the prophets testify about him, that through his name everyone who believes in him will receive remission of sins.”
A éste dan testimonio todos los profetas, de que todos los que en él creyeren, recibirán perdón de pecados en su nombre.
44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those who heard the word.
Estando aun hablando Pedro estas palabras, el Espíritu Santo cayó sobre todos los que oían la palabra.
45 They of the circumcision who believed were amazed, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was also poured out on the Gentiles.
Y se espantaron los creyentes que eran de la circuncisión, que habían venido con Pedro, de que también sobre los Gentiles se derramase el don del Espíritu Santo.
46 For they heard them speaking in other languages and magnifying God. Then Peter answered,
Porque los oían que hablaban en lenguas extrañas, y que magnificaban a Dios. Entonces Pedro respondió:
47 “Can anyone forbid these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just like us.”
¿Puede alguien impedir el agua, que no sean bautizados estos, que han recibido el Espíritu Santo también como nosotros?
48 He commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay some days.
Y los mandó bautizar en el nombre del Señor. Y le rogaron que se quedase con ellos por algunos días.
