2 Timothy 2
1 You therefore, my child, be strengthened in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
૧માટે, મારા દીકરા, ખ્રિસ્ત ઈસુમાં જે કૃપા છે તેમાં તું સામર્થ્યવાન થા.
2 The things which you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit the same things to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
૨જે વાતો ઘણા સાક્ષીઓ સમક્ષ તેં મારી પાસેથી સાંભળી છે તે બીજાઓને પણ શીખવી શકે એવા વિશ્વાસુ માણસોને સોંપી દે.
3 You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.
૩માટે ખ્રિસ્ત ઈસુના સારા સૈનિક તરીકે તું દુઃખ સહન કર.
4 No soldier on duty entangles himself in the affairs of life, that he may please him who enrolled him as a soldier.
૪યુદ્ધમાં જનાર કોઈ સૈનિક દુનિયાદારીના કામકાજમાં ગૂંથાતો નથી કે, જેથી તે પોતાના ઉપરી અધિકારીને સંતોષ પમાડે.
5 Also, if anyone competes in athletics, he isn’t crowned unless he has competed by the rules.
૫વળી જો કોઈ રમતવીર હરીફાઈમાં ઊતરે, તો નિયમ પ્રમાણે હરીફાઈ કર્યા વગર તેને ઇનામ મળતું નથી.
6 The farmer who labors must be the first to get a share of the crops.
૬મહેનત કરનાર ખેડૂતને પ્રથમ ફળ મળવાં જોઈએ.
7 Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things.
૭હું જે કહું છું તેનો વિચાર કર; કેમ કે આ સર્વ બાબતો વિષે પ્રભુ તને સમજણ આપશે
8 Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, of the offspring of David, according to my Good News,
૮ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્ત જેમને મારી સુવાર્તા પ્રમાણે મરણમાંથી સજીવન કરવામાં આવ્યા, (અને) જે દાઉદના સંતાનના છે, તેમને યાદ રાખ;
9 in which I suffer hardship to the point of chains as a criminal. But God’s word isn’t chained.
૯જે (સુવાર્તા) ને કારણે હું ગુનેગારની જેમ બંદીખાનાં સુધીનું દુઃખ વેઠું છું; પણ ઈશ્વરની વાત બંધનમાં નથી.
10 Therefore I endure all things for the chosen ones’ sake, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. (aiōnios g166)
૧૦હું પસંદ કરેલાઓને સારુ સઘળું સહન કરું છું કે, જેથી ખ્રિસ્ત ઈસુમાં જે ઉદ્ધાર છે તે (ઉદ્ધાર) તેઓ અનંત મહિમાસહિત પામે. (aiōnios g166)
11 This saying is trustworthy: “For if we died with him, we will also live with him.
૧૧આ વચન વિશ્વાસયોગ્ય છે: જો આપણે તેમની સાથે મરણ પામ્યા, તો તેમની સાથે જીવીશું પણ;
12 If we endure, we will also reign with him. If we deny him, he also will deny us.
૧૨જો આપણે (અંત સુધી) ટકી રહીએ, તો તેમની સાથે રાજ પણ કરીશું; જો આપણે તેમનો નકાર કરીએ, તો (ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્ત) આપણો પણ નકાર કરશે;
13 If we are faithless, he remains faithful; for he can’t deny himself.”
૧૩જો આપણે અવિશ્વાસી હોઈએ, તો પણ તે વિશ્વાસુ રહે છે; તેઓ પોતાનો ઇનકાર કરી શકતા નથી.
14 Remind them of these things, charging them in the sight of the Lord that they don’t argue about words to no profit, to the subverting of those who hear.
૧૪તું તેઓને સ્મરણ કરાવીને પ્રભુની આગળ (તેઓને) એવો હુકમ કર કે, જે ખાલી શબ્દવાદ કોઈપણ રીતે ગુણકારી નથી, પણ તેને બદલે સાંભળનારાંને નુકસાનકારક છે, તે કોઈ ન કરે.
15 Give diligence to present yourself approved by God, a workman who doesn’t need to be ashamed, properly handling the Word of Truth.
૧૫જેને શરમાવાનું કશું કારણ ન હોય એવી રીતે કામ કરનાર, સત્યનાં વચન સ્પષ્ટતાથી સમજાવનાર, અને ઈશ્વરને પસંદ પડે એવો સેવક થવાને તું પ્રયત્ન કર.
16 But shun empty chatter, for it will go further in ungodliness,
૧૬પણ અધર્મી બકવાસથી દૂર રહે; કેમ કે એવું કરનાર વધારે ને વધારે ધર્મભ્રષ્ટ થતા જશે,
17 and those words will consume like gangrene, of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus:
૧૭અને તેઓની વાત ધારાની પેઠે ફેલાતી જશે: (એવા માણસોમાંના) હુમનાયસ તથા ફિલેતસ છે.
18 men who have erred concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past, and overthrowing the faith of some.
૧૮પુનરુત્થાન થઈ ગયું છે એમ કહીને તેઓ સત્ય ચૂકી જઈને કેટલાકનો વિશ્વાસ ઉલટાવી નાખે છે.
19 However, God’s firm foundation stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let every one who names the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness.”
૧૯પણ ઈશ્વરે નાખેલો પાયો સ્થિર રહે છે, તેના પર આ મુદ્રાછાપ મારેલી છે કે, ‘પ્રભુ પોતાના લોકોને ઓળખે છે અને જે કોઈ ખ્રિસ્તનું નામ લે છે તેણે પાપથી દૂર થવું.’
20 Now in a large house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of clay. Some are for honor and some for dishonor.
૨૦મોટા ઘરમાં કેવળ સોનાચાંદીનાં જ નહિ, પણ લાકડાંના તથા માટીનાં પાત્રો પણ હોય છે; તેઓમાંના કેટલાંક ઉત્તમ કાર્યોને માટે ને કેટલાંક હલકાં કાર્યોને માટે હોય છે.
21 If anyone therefore purges himself from these, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, and suitable for the master’s use, prepared for every good work.
૨૧એ માટે જો કોઈ તેઓથી (હલકાં કાર્યોથી) પોતાને (દૂર રાખીને) શુદ્ધ કરે, તો તે ઉત્તમ કાર્યને સારુ પવિત્ર કરેલું, સ્વામીને ઉપયોગી તથા સર્વ સારાં કામને માટે તૈયાર કરેલું પાત્ર થશે.
22 Flee from youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
૨૨વળી જુવાનીના આવેગથી નાસી જા, પણ પ્રભુનું નામ શુદ્ધ હૃદયથી લેનારાઓની સાથે ન્યાયીપણું, વિશ્વાસ, પ્રેમ તથા શાંતિ પ્રાપ્ત કરવાને યત્ન કર.
23 But refuse foolish and ignorant questionings, knowing that they generate strife.
૨૩મૂર્ખતાથી ભરેલા તથા અજ્ઞાની સવાલોથી વિખવાદ ઉત્પન્ન થાય છે એમ સમજીને તેઓથી દૂર રહે.
24 The Lord’s servant must not quarrel, but be gentle toward all, able to teach, patient,
૨૪પ્રભુના સેવકે તકરાર કરવી નહિ, પણ તે સર્વ માણસો પ્રત્યે માયાળુ, શીખવવામાં બાહોશ, સહનશીલ;
25 in gentleness correcting those who oppose him. Perhaps God may give them repentance leading to a full knowledge of the truth,
૨૫વિરોધીઓને નમ્રતાથી સમજાવનાર હોવો જોઈએ. કદાચ ઈશ્વર તેઓને પસ્તાવો (કરવાની બુદ્ધિ) આપે, જેથી તેઓને સત્યનું જ્ઞાન પ્રાપ્ત થાય.
26 and they may recover themselves out of the devil’s snare, having been taken captive by him to do his will.
૨૬અને જેઓ શેતાનના ફાંદામાં ફસાયા છે તેઓ તેમાંથી છૂટીને પ્રભુની ઇચ્છા પૂરી કરવાને માટે તેમના સેવકને આધીન થાય.
