2 Thessalonians 3

1 Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may spread rapidly and be glorified, even as also with you,

Enfin, priez pour nous, frères, afin que la parole du Seigneur se répande, qu'elle soit partout glorifiée comme chez vous,

2 and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and evil men; for not all have faith.

et que nous soyons délivrés des hommes intraitables et méchants; car tous n'ont pas la foi.

3 But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.

Le Seigneur est fidèle; il vous fortifiera et vous préservera du Malin.

4 We have confidence in the Lord concerning you, that you both do and will do the things we command.

Nous avons la confiance en vous dans le Seigneur, que vous faites et que vous ferez ce que nous vous recommandons.

5 May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and into the perseverance of Christ.

Veuille le Seigneur former vos coeurs à l'amour de Dieu et à la patiente attente du Christ!

6 Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw yourselves from every brother who walks in rebellion and not after the tradition which they received from us.

Nous vous recommandons, frères, au nom de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ de vous éloigner de tout frère qui se conduit d'une manière déréglée et ne suit pas l'enseignement que vous avez reçu de nous.

7 For you know how you ought to imitate us. For we didn’t behave ourselves rebelliously among you,

Vous savez vous-mêmes ce qu'il faut faire pour nous imiter, car nous n'avons pas vécu parmi vous d'une manière déréglée;

8 neither did we eat bread from anyone’s hand without paying for it, but in labor and travail worked night and day, that we might not burden any of you.

nous n'avons mangé gratis le pain de personne, mais nous avons jour et nuit péniblement et laborieusement travaillé pour n'être à charge à aucun de vous;

9 This was not because we don’t have the right, but to make ourselves an example to you, that you should imitate us.

et ce n'était pas parce que nous n'en avions pas le droit, mais c'était pour vous donner un exemple à imiter.

10 For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: “If anyone is not willing to work, don’t let him eat.”

Quand nous étions au milieu de vous, nous vous donnions cette règle: celui qui refuse de travailler ne doit pas non il plus manger.

11 For we hear of some who walk among you in rebellion, who don’t work at all, but are busybodies.

Nous apprenons, en effet, qu'il y a parmi vous des personnes qui se conduisent d'une manière déréglée, qui ne travaillent point et perdent leur temps à des futilités.

12 Now those who are that way, we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ, that they work with quietness and eat their own bread.

Nous invitons et nous exhortons ces personnes-là par notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ à travailler paisiblement et à manger un pain qui soit le leur.

13 But you, brothers, don’t be weary in doing what is right.

Pour vous, frères, ne vous lassez pas de faire le bien.

14 If any man doesn’t obey our word in this letter, note that man and have no company with him, to the end that he may be ashamed.

Si quelqu'un ne se soumet pas à ce que nous vous disons dans cette lettre, notez-le, n'ayez point de rapport avec lui pour qu'il soit couvert de honte.

15 Don’t count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

Cependant ne le traitez pas comme un ennemi, mais avertissez-le comme un frère.

16 Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in all ways. The Lord be with you all.

Que le Seigneur de paix vous donne lui-même la paix, toujours, de toutes manières. Que le Seigneur soit avec vous tous.

17 I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand, which is the sign in every letter. This is how I write.

Je vous salue en écrivant moi-même, PAUL. Je signe ainsi toutes mes lettres; c'est mon écriture

18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

La grâce de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ soit avec vous tous.
