2 Thessalonians 1

1 Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, to the assembly of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:

パウロ、シルワノ、テモテから、私たちの父なる神および主イエス・キリストにあるテサロニケ人の教会へ。

2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

父なる神と主イエス・キリストから、恵みと平安があなたがたの上にありますように。

3 We are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers, even as it is appropriate, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of each and every one of you toward one another abounds,

兄弟たち。あなたがたのことについて、私たちはいつも神に感謝しなければなりません。そうするのが当然なのです。なぜならあなたがたの信仰が目に見えて成長し、あなたがたすべての間で、ひとりひとりに相互の愛が増し加わっているからです。

4 so that we ourselves boast about you in the assemblies of God for your perseverance and faith in all your persecutions and in the afflictions which you endure.

それゆえ私たちは、神の諸教会の間で、あなたがたがすべての迫害と患難とに耐えながらその従順と信仰とを保っていることを、誇りとしています。

5 This is an obvious sign of the righteous judgment of God, to the end that you may be counted worthy of God’s Kingdom, for which you also suffer.

このことは、あなたがたを神の国にふさわしい者とするため、神の正しいさばきを示すしるしであって、あなたがたが苦しみを受けているのは、この神の国のためです。

6 For it is a righteous thing with God to repay affliction to those who afflict you,

つまり、あなたがたを苦しめる者には、報いとして苦しみを与え、

7 and to give relief to you who are afflicted with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire,

苦しめられているあなたがたには、私たちとともに、報いとして安息を与えてくださることは、神にとって正しいことなのです。そのことは、主イエスが、炎の中に、力ある御使いたちを従えて天から現われるときに起こります。

8 punishing those who don’t know God, and to those who don’t obey the Good News of our Lord Jesus,

そのとき主は、神を知らない人々や、私たちの主イエスの福音に従わない人々に報復されます。

9 who will pay the penalty: eternal destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his might, (aiōnios g166)

そのような人々は、主の御顔の前とその御力の栄光から退けられて、永遠の滅びの刑罰を受けるのです。 (aiōnios g166)

10 when he comes in that day to be glorified in his saints and to be admired among all those who have believed, because our testimony to you was believed.

その日に、主イエスは来られて、ご自分の聖徒たちによって栄光を受け、信じたすべての者の――そうです。あなたがたに対する私たちの証言は、信じられたのです。――感嘆の的となられます。

11 To this end we also pray always for you that our God may count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire of goodness and work of faith with power,

そのためにも、私たちはいつも、あなたがたのために祈っています。どうか、私たちの神が、あなたがたをお召しにふさわしい者にし、また御力によって、善を慕うあらゆる願いと信仰の働きとを全うしてくださいますように。

12 that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

それは、私たちの神であり主であるイエス・キリストの恵みによって、主イエスの御名があなたがたの間であがめられ、あなたがたも主にあって栄光を受けるためです。
