2 Samuel 20
1 There happened to be there a wicked fellow, whose name was Sheba the son of Bichri, a Benjamite; and he blew the trumpet, and said, “We have no portion in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse. Every man to his tents, Israel!”
੧ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਉੱਥੇ ਇੱਕ ਸ਼ਬਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਬਿਨਯਾਮੀਨੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਬੜਾ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਸੀ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬਿਕਰੀ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਨਰਸਿੰਗਾ ਵਜਾ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਨਾ ਸਾਡੀ ਵੰਡ ਯੱਸੀ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਡਾ ਭਾਗ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ, ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਤੰਬੂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਓ!
2 So all the men of Israel went up from following David, and followed Sheba the son of Bichri; but the men of Judah joined with their king, from the Jordan even to Jerusalem.
੨ਸੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾਊਦ ਦਾ ਪਿੱਛਾ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਬਿਕਰੀ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸ਼ਬਾ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ ਪਰ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਯਰਦਨ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਤੱਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਗੇ ਰਹੇ।
3 David came to his house at Jerusalem; and the king took the ten women his concubines, whom he had left to keep the house, and put them in custody and provided them with sustenance, but didn’t go in to them. So they were shut up to the day of their death, living in widowhood.
੩ਦਾਊਦ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਹਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਸ ਰਖ਼ੈਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਕੈਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਹਿਲ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਲਈ ਛੱਡ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਰਸਤ ਠਹਿਰਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਨਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੋ ਓਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਤੱਕ ਕੈਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੰਡੇਪੇ ਜਿਹੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹੀਆਂ।
4 Then the king said to Amasa, “Call me the men of Judah together within three days, and be here present.”
੪ਰਾਜਾ ਨੇ ਅਮਾਸਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਇਕੱਠਿਆਂ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਵੀ ਐਥੋਂ ਹੋਵੀਂ।
5 So Amasa went to call the men of Judah together, but he stayed longer than the set time which had been appointed to him.
੫ਸੋ ਅਮਾਸਾ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਨ ਗਿਆ ਪਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਠਹਿਰਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸਮਾਂ ਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
6 David said to Abishai, “Now Sheba the son of Bichri will do us more harm than Absalom did. Take your lord’s servants and pursue after him, lest he get himself fortified cities, and escape out of our sight.”
੬ਤਦ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਅਬੀਸ਼ਈ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਹੁਣ ਸ਼ਬਾ ਬਿਕਰੀ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਵੱਧ ਬਦੀ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਸੋ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਿੱਛਾ ਕਰ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਗੜ੍ਹ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੜ ਕੇ ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਨਜ਼ਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ।
7 Joab’s men went out after him with the Cherethites, the Pelethites, and all the mighty men; and they went out of Jerusalem to pursue Sheba the son of Bichri.
੭ਸੋ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਯੋਆਬ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਕਰੇਤੀ, ਫਲੇਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਨਿੱਕਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਕਰੀ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸ਼ਬਾ ਦਾ ਪਿੱਛਾ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਆਏ।
8 When they were at the great stone which is in Gibeon, Amasa came to meet them. Joab was clothed in his apparel of war that he had put on, and on it was a sash with a sword fastened on his waist in its sheath; and as he went along it fell out.
੮ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਓਹ ਉਸ ਵੱਡੇ ਪੱਥਰ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਜੋ ਗਿਬਓਨ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਤਾਂ ਅਮਾਸਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆ ਕੇ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਯੋਆਬ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਫ਼ੌਜੀ ਬਸਤਰਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਪਟਕਾ ਕੱਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਪਟਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਮਿਆਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੰਨ੍ਹੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ ਪੱਟਕਾ ਮਿਆਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਈ ਹੋਈ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਸਣੇ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਲੱਕ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੰਨਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਚੱਲਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਈ।
9 Joab said to Amasa, “Is it well with you, my brother?” Joab took Amasa by the beard with his right hand to kiss him.
੯ਸੋ ਯੋਆਬ ਨੇ ਅਮਾਸਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ, ਤੂੰ ਸੁੱਖ-ਸਾਂਦ ਨਾਲ ਹੈਂ? ਅਤੇ ਯੋਆਬ ਨੇ ਅਮਾਸਾ ਦੀ ਦਾੜ੍ਹੀ ਸੱਜੇ ਹੱਥ ਨਾਲ ਫੜ੍ਹ ਲਈ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੰਮੇ।
10 But Amasa took no heed to the sword that was in Joab’s hand. So he struck him with it in the body and shed out his bowels to the ground, and didn’t strike him again; and he died. Joab and Abishai his brother pursued Sheba the son of Bichri.
੧੦ਪਰ ਅਮਾਸਾ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਦਾ ਯੋਆਬ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ ਕੁਝ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਪਸਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਆਂਦਰਾਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਜਾ ਡਿੱਗੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਦੂਜੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਸੋ ਉਹ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ। ਫਿਰ ਯੋਆਬ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਭਰਾ ਅਬੀਸ਼ਈ ਬਿਕਰੀ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸ਼ਬਾ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ।
11 One of Joab’s young men stood by him, and said, “He who favors Joab, and he who is for David, let him follow Joab!”
੧੧ਤਦ ਯੋਆਬ ਦੇ ਜੁਆਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਜਣਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਖੜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਿਆ, ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਯੋਆਬ ਦੇ ਪੱਖ ਨਾਲ ਰਾਜੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੀ ਵੱਲ ਹੈ ਸੋ ਯੋਆਬ ਨਾਲ ਤੁਰੇ।
12 Amasa lay wallowing in his blood in the middle of the highway. When the man saw that all the people stood still, he carried Amasa out of the highway into the field, and cast a garment over him when he saw that everyone who came by him stood still.
੧੨ਅਤੇ ਅਮਾਸਾ ਰਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਹੂ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਲੇਟਣੀਆਂ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਜਦ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਅਮਾਸਾ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਹ ਉੱਤੋਂ ਪੈਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਘਸੀਟ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਕੱਪੜਾ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਸਨੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕੋਈ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਆਇਆ ਸੋ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
13 When he was removed out of the highway, all the people went on after Joab to pursue Sheba the son of Bichri.
੧੩ਜਦ ਉਹ ਰਾਹ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਕ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਸਭ ਲੋਕ ਯੋਆਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਬਿਕਰੀ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸ਼ਬਾ ਦਾ ਪਿੱਛਾ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਰ ਪਏ।
14 He went through all the tribes of Israel to Abel, to Beth Maacah, and all the Berites. They were gathered together, and went also after him.
੧੪ਸੋ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਗੋਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਆਬੇਲ ਅਤੇ ਬੈਤ ਮਅਕਾਹ ਤੱਕ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਬੇਰੀ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰੇ।
15 They came and besieged him in Abel of Beth Maacah, and they cast up a mound against the city, and it stood against the rampart; and all the people who were with Joab battered the wall to throw it down.
੧੫ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਬੇਲ ਬੈਤ ਮਆਕਾਹ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਘੇਰ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਇੱਕ ਟੀਲਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਜੋ ਕੰਧ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਭ ਲੋਕ ਜੋ ਯੋਆਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਨ ਸੋ ਕੰਧ ਨੂੰ ਢਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ।
16 Then a wise woman cried out of the city, “Hear, hear! Please say to Joab, ‘Come near here, that I may speak with you.’”
੧੬ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਇੱਕ ਸਮਝਦਾਰ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹਾਕਾਂ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਸੁਣਿਓ, ਵੇ ਸੁਣਿਓ! ਯੋਆਬ ਨੂੰ ਆਖੋ ਕਿ ਐਥੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਆ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨੀ ਹੈ।
17 He came near to her; and the woman said, “Are you Joab?” He answered, “I am.” Then she said to him, “Hear the words of your servant.” He answered, “I’m listening.”
੧੭ਅਤੇ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਨੇੜੇ ਆਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੂੰ ਯੋਆਬ ਹੈਂ? ਉਸ ਆਖਿਆ, ਜੀ ਮੈਂ ਉਹੋ ਹਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਆਪਣੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ ਲੈ। ਉਹ ਬੋਲਿਆ, ਜੀ ਮੈਂ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
18 Then she spoke, saying, “They used to say in old times, ‘They shall surely ask counsel at Abel,’ and so they settled a matter.
੧੮ਤਦ ਉਸ ਆਖਿਆ, ਕਿ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਕਹਾਉਤ ਆਖਦੇ ਸਨ ਜੋ ਓਹ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਆਬੇਲ ਤੋਂ ਸਲਾਹ ਪੁੱਛਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਓਹ ਕੰਮ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਕਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ।
19 I am among those who are peaceable and faithful in Israel. You seek to destroy a city and a mother in Israel. Why will you swallow up Yahweh’s inheritance?”
੧੯ਮੈਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਸੁਭਾਓ ਅਤੇ ਭਲੀ ਮਾਣਸ ਹਾਂ। ਤੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਭਲਾ, ਤੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਮਿਲਖ਼ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਿਗਲਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
20 Joab answered, “Far be it, far be it from me, that I should swallow up or destroy.
੨੦ਯੋਆਬ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਦਫ਼ਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋਵੇ ਜੋ ਨਿਗਲਾਂ ਜਾਂ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਾਂ!
21 The matter is not so. But a man of the hill country of Ephraim, Sheba the son of Bichri by name, has lifted up his hand against the king, even against David. Just deliver him, and I will depart from the city.” The woman said to Joab, “Behold, his head will be thrown to you over the wall.”
੨੧ਗੱਲ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਸਗੋਂ ਇਫ਼ਰਾਈਮ ਦੇ ਪਰਬਤ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸ਼ਬਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਿਕਰੀ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਦਾਊਦ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਥ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹੈ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਹੱਥ ਸੌਂਪ ਦਿਉ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਸ਼ਹਿਰੋਂ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਂਵਾਂਗਾ। ਉਸ ਇਸਰਤੀ ਨੇ ਯੋਆਬ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਵੇਖ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਕੰਧ ਉੱਤੋਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ!
22 Then the woman went to all the people in her wisdom. They cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri, and threw it out to Joab. He blew the trumpet, and they were dispersed from the city, every man to his tent. Then Joab returned to Jerusalem to the king.
੨੨ਤਦ ਉਹ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਬੁੱਧ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਗਈ ਸੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਿਕਰੀ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸ਼ਬਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਵੱਢ ਕੇ ਯੋਆਬ ਵੱਲ ਬਾਹਰ ਨੂੰ ਸੁੱਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਤਦ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਤੁਰ੍ਹੀ ਵਜਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਤੰਬੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਯੋਆਬ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਜਾ ਕੋਲ ਆਇਆ।
23 Now Joab was over all the army of Israel, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and over the Pelethites,
੨੩ਯੋਆਬ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਸੈਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਯਾਦਾ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਬਨਾਯਾਹ ਕਰੇਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਫਲੇਤੀਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਸੀ।
24 Adoram was over the men subject to forced labor, Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was the recorder,
੨੪ਅਤੇ ਅਦੋਰਾਮ ਬੇਗ਼ਾਰੀਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਹੀਲੂਦ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯਹੋਸ਼ਾਫ਼ਾਤ ਇਤਹਾਸ ਦਾ ਲਿਖਾਰੀ ਸੀ।
25 Sheva was scribe, Zadok and Abiathar were priests,
੨੫ਸ਼ਵਾ ਅਹੁਦੇਦਾਰ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਦੋਕ ਅਤੇ ਅਬਯਾਥਾਰ ਜਾਜਕ ਸਨ।
26 and Ira the Jairite was chief minister to David.
੨੬ਅਤੇ ਈਰਾ ਯਾਇਰੀ ਵੀ ਦਾਊਦ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਜਾਜਕ ਸੀ।
