2 Peter 1
1 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained a like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ:
Esta carta é escrita por Simão Pedro, servo e apóstolo de Jesus Cristo, para aqueles que compartilham conosco da mesma fé valiosa em nosso Deus e em nosso Salvador Jesus Cristo, aquele que é verdadeiramente bom e justo.
2 Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,
Que vocês tenham cada vez mais graça e paz, conforme conheçam mais sobre Deus e sobre Jesus, o nosso Senhor.
3 seeing that his divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue,
E saibam que é por meio do divino poder de Deus que nós recebemos tudo o que é importante para viver uma vida centrada nele. E a origem disso é o conhecimento que adquirimos sobre aquele que nos chamou para fazer parte da sua própria glória e bondade. Assim, ele nos dá maravilhosas e valiosas promessas,
4 by which he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust.
pelas quais, vocês podem estar em comunhão com a natureza divina. E é dessa forma que nos livramos da corrupção causada pelos desejos malignos do mundo.
5 Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence; and in moral excellence, knowledge;
Por essa razão, façam tudo o que puderem! Acrescentem à bondade a sua fé em Deus; à bondade acrescentem o conhecimento;
6 and in knowledge, self-control; and in self-control, perseverance; and in perseverance, godliness;
ao conhecimento acrescentem o autocontrole; ao autocontrole acrescentem a paciência; à paciência acrescentem o respeito;
7 and in godliness, brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love.
ao respeito acrescentem a amizade cristã; e à amizade cristã acrescentem o amor.
8 For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to not be idle or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
E quanto mais vocês tiverem e fizerem com que essas qualidades se desenvolvam em si mesmos, mais o conhecimento a respeito do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo os tornará úteis e produtivos.
9 For he who lacks these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins.
Pois quem não tem essas qualidades tem visão curta ou é cego. Eles se esquecem de que foram purificados dos seus antigos pecados.
10 Therefore, brothers, be more diligent to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never stumble.
Então, irmãos e irmãs, estejam sempre determinados a garantir que sejam verdadeiramente os “chamados e escolhidos.” Se fizerem isso, nunca cairão.
11 For thus you will be richly supplied with the entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. (aiōnios g166)
Vocês serão muito bem recebidos no Reino eterno do nosso Senhor e Salvador Jesus Cristo. (aiōnios g166)
12 Therefore I will not be negligent to remind you of these things, though you know them and are established in the present truth.
É por isso que eu sempre lhes recordo essas coisas, embora vocês já saibam sobre elas e permaneçam firmes na verdade que receberam.
13 I think it right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you,
Mas, eu ainda acho que seja uma boa ideia incentivá-los com esses lembretes, enquanto eu viver.
14 knowing that the putting off of my tent comes swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me.
Eu sei que se aproxima o momento em que deixarei esta vida, pois o nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo deixou isso bem claro para mim.
15 Yes, I will make every effort that you may always be able to remember these things even after my departure.
Eu farei o meu melhor para que, quando eu morrer, vocês sejam sempre capazes de se lembrar desses ensinamentos.
16 For we didn’t follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
Nós não seguimos histórias de mitos inventados, quando falamos a respeito da vinda poderosa do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo; nós mesmos fomos testemunhas de sua grandiosidade.
17 For he received from God the Father honor and glory when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
Ele recebeu honra e glória de Deus, o Pai, quando a voz da glória majestosa falou com ele e anunciou: “Este é o meu Filho, a quem eu amo e que verdadeiramente me agrada.”
18 We heard this voice come out of heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.
Nós mesmos ouvimos essa voz, vinda do céu, quando estávamos com Jesus no monte santo.
19 We have the more sure word of prophecy; and you do well that you heed it as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts,
Nós também temos a confirmação de que aquilo que os profetas falaram é absolutamente verdadeiro. E, por isso, prestem bastante atenção a essa mensagem. Pois ela é como uma luz que brilha forte em um lugar escuro, até que o dia amanheça, e a estrela da manhã irradie a sua luz sobre vocês.
20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of private interpretation.
E acima de tudo, vocês precisam saber que nenhuma profecia das Sagradas Escrituras deve ser interpretada com base nos caprichos de alguém,
21 For no prophecy ever came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke, being moved by the Holy Spirit.
pois as profecias não vieram das ideias humanas e, sim, dos profetas, que falavam em nome de Deus, mediante a ação do Espírito Santo.
