2 Kings 12
1 Jehoash began to reign in the seventh year of Jehu, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Zibiah of Beersheba.
Joás comenzó a reinar en el séptimo año de Jehú, y reinó cuarenta años en Jerusalén. Su madre se llamaba Sibías de Beerseba.
2 Jehoash did that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes all his days in which Jehoiada the priest instructed him.
Joás hizo lo que era justo a los ojos de Yahvé durante todos sus días, en lo que le instruyó el sacerdote Joiada.
3 However, the high places were not taken away. The people still sacrificed and burned incense in the high places.
Sin embargo, los lugares altos no fueron quitados. El pueblo seguía sacrificando y quemando incienso en los lugares altos.
4 Jehoash said to the priests, “All the money of the holy things that is brought into Yahweh’s house, in current money, the money of the people for whom each man is evaluated, and all the money that it comes into any man’s heart to bring into Yahweh’s house,
Yahvé dijo a los sacerdotes: “Todo el dinero de las cosas sagradas que se traiga a la casa de Yahvé, en dinero corriente, el dinero del pueblo por el que se evalúa cada uno, y todo el dinero que se le ocurra a cualquier hombre traer a la casa de Yahvé,
5 let the priests take it to them, each man from his donor; and they shall repair the damage to the house, wherever any damage is found.”
que los sacerdotes se lo lleven, cada uno de su donante; y ellos repararán el daño de la casa, dondequiera que se encuentre cualquier daño.”
6 But it was so, that in the twenty-third year of King Jehoash the priests had not repaired the damage to the house.
Pero sucedió que en el año veintitrés del rey Joás los sacerdotes no habían reparado los daños de la casa.
7 Then King Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and for the other priests, and said to them, “Why aren’t you repairing the damage to the house? Now therefore take no more money from your treasurers, but deliver it for repair of the damage to the house.”
Entonces el rey Joás llamó al sacerdote Joiada y a los demás sacerdotes y les dijo: “¿Por qué no reparáis los daños de la casa? Ahora, pues, no toméis más dinero de vuestros tesoros, sino entregadlo para reparar los daños de la casa.”
8 The priests consented that they should take no more money from the people, and not repair the damage to the house.
Los sacerdotes consintieron en no tomar más dinero del pueblo y en no reparar el daño causado a la casa.
9 But Jehoiada the priest took a chest and bored a hole in its lid, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one comes into Yahweh’s house; and the priests who kept the threshold put all the money that was brought into Yahweh’s house into it.
Pero el sacerdote Joiada tomó un cofre, le hizo un agujero en la tapa y lo puso al lado del altar, a la derecha, como se entra en la casa de Yahvé; y los sacerdotes que guardaban el umbral pusieron en él todo el dinero que se traía a la casa de Yahvé.
10 When they saw that there was much money in the chest, the king’s scribe and the high priest came up, and they put it in bags and counted the money that was found in Yahweh’s house.
Cuando vieron que había mucho dinero en el cofre, subieron el escriba del rey y el sumo sacerdote, y lo pusieron en bolsas y contaron el dinero que se encontraba en la casa de Yahvé.
11 They gave the money that was weighed out into the hands of those who did the work, who had the oversight of Yahweh’s house; and they paid it out to the carpenters and the builders who worked on Yahweh’s house,
Dieron el dinero que se había pesado en manos de los que hacían la obra, que tenían la supervisión de la casa de Yahvé; y lo pagaron a los carpinteros y a los constructores que trabajaban en la casa de Yahvé,
12 and to the masons and the stone cutters, and for buying timber and cut stone to repair the damage to Yahweh’s house, and for all that was laid out for the house to repair it.
y a los albañiles y a los canteros, y para comprar madera y piedra cortada para reparar los daños de la casa de Yahvé, y para todo lo que se hizo en la casa para repararla.
13 But there were not made for Yahweh’s house cups of silver, snuffers, basins, trumpets, any vessels of gold or vessels of silver, of the money that was brought into Yahweh’s house;
Pero no se hicieron para la casa de Yahvé copas de plata, tazas, jofainas, trompetas, ningún vaso de oro ni de plata, del dinero que se traía a la casa de Yahvé;
14 for they gave that to those who did the work, and repaired Yahweh’s house with it.
porque eso se lo daban a los que hacían la obra, y con eso reparaban la casa de Yahvé.
15 Moreover they didn’t demand an accounting from the men into whose hand they delivered the money to give to those who did the work; for they dealt faithfully.
Además, no pidieron cuentas a los hombres en cuya mano entregaron el dinero para que lo entregaran a los que hacían la obra, pues actuaron con fidelidad.
16 The money for the trespass offerings and the money for the sin offerings was not brought into Yahweh’s house. It was the priests’.
El dinero para las ofrendas por la culpa y el dinero para las ofrendas por el pecado no entraba en la casa de Yahvé. Era de los sacerdotes.
17 Then Hazael king of Syria went up and fought against Gath, and took it; and Hazael set his face to go up to Jerusalem.
Entonces subió Hazael, rey de Siria, y combatió contra Gat, y la tomó; y Hazael se dispuso a subir a Jerusalén.
18 Jehoash king of Judah took all the holy things that Jehoshaphat and Jehoram and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own holy things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of Yahweh’s house, and of the king’s house, and sent it to Hazael king of Syria; and he went away from Jerusalem.
Joás, rey de Judá, tomó todas las cosas sagradas que Josafat, Joram y Ocozías, sus padres, reyes de Judá, habían dedicado, y sus propias cosas sagradas, y todo el oro que se encontraba en los tesoros de la casa de Yahvé y de la casa real, y lo envió a Hazael, rey de Siria; y se fue de Jerusalén.
19 Now the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
El resto de los hechos de Joás, y todo lo que hizo, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?
20 His servants arose and made a conspiracy, and struck Joash at the house of Millo, on the way that goes down to Silla.
Sus siervos se levantaron e hicieron una conspiración, y golpearon a Joás en la casa de Millo, en el camino que desciende a Silla.
21 For Jozacar the son of Shimeath, and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, struck him, and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in David’s city; and Amaziah his son reigned in his place.
Pues Jozacar, hijo de Simeat, y Jozabad, hijo de Shomer, sus servidores, lo hirieron, y murió; y lo enterraron con sus padres en la ciudad de David; y su hijo Amasías reinó en su lugar.
