2 Kings 12
1 Jehoash began to reign in the seventh year of Jehu, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Zibiah of Beersheba.
Joás empezó a reinar el año séptimo de Jehú y reinó cuarenta años en Jerusalén. Su madre se llamaba Sebiá de Bersabee.
2 Jehoash did that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes all his days in which Jehoiada the priest instructed him.
Hizo Joás lo que era recto a los ojos de Yahvé todo el tiempo que le dirigió el sacerdote Joiadá.
3 However, the high places were not taken away. The people still sacrificed and burned incense in the high places.
Pero los lugares altos no desaparecieron, y el pueblo siguió sacrificando y quemando incienso en los lugares altos.
4 Jehoash said to the priests, “All the money of the holy things that is brought into Yahweh’s house, in current money, the money of the people for whom each man is evaluated, and all the money that it comes into any man’s heart to bring into Yahweh’s house,
Joás dijo a los sacerdotes: “Todo el dinero que como cosa santificada entre en la Casa de Yahvé, la tasa personal de cada uno, el dinero de rescate de personas, según su valuación, y todo el dinero que voluntariamente se ofrece a la Casa de Yahvé,
5 let the priests take it to them, each man from his donor; and they shall repair the damage to the house, wherever any damage is found.”
tómenlo los sacerdotes, cada uno de las manos de sus conocidos; y hagan reparar los desperfectos de la Casa dondequiera que se hallaren deterioros.”
6 But it was so, that in the twenty-third year of King Jehoash the priests had not repaired the damage to the house.
Pero hasta el año veinte y tres del rey Joás, los sacerdotes no habían aún reparado los desperfectos de la Casa.
7 Then King Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and for the other priests, and said to them, “Why aren’t you repairing the damage to the house? Now therefore take no more money from your treasurers, but deliver it for repair of the damage to the house.”
Llamó, pues, el rey Joás al sacerdote Joiadá y a los sacerdotes, y les dijo: “¿Por qué no reparáis los deterioros de la Casa? En adelante no podréis más tomar el dinero de vuestros conocidos, sino que habéis de entregarlo para los deterioros de la Casa.”
8 The priests consented that they should take no more money from the people, and not repair the damage to the house.
Consintieron los sacerdotes en no recibir más dinero del pueblo, ni hacer ellos las reparaciones de la Casa.
9 But Jehoiada the priest took a chest and bored a hole in its lid, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one comes into Yahweh’s house; and the priests who kept the threshold put all the money that was brought into Yahweh’s house into it.
Entonces el sacerdote Joiadá tomó un arca, hizo un agujero en la tapa de ella, y la colocó junto al altar, a la derecha, por donde se entraba en la Casa de Yahvé; y los sacerdotes que guardaban la puerta metían allí todo el dinero que fue traído a la Casa de Yahvé.
10 When they saw that there was much money in the chest, the king’s scribe and the high priest came up, and they put it in bags and counted the money that was found in Yahweh’s house.
Cuando veían que había mucho dinero en el arca, subía el secretario del rey, con el Sumo Sacerdote, y metían el dinero en bolsas y lo contaban todo cuanto había en la Casa de Yahvé.
11 They gave the money that was weighed out into the hands of those who did the work, who had the oversight of Yahweh’s house; and they paid it out to the carpenters and the builders who worked on Yahweh’s house,
Y después de pesarlo entregaban el dinero en manos de los que hacían la obra, es decir, en manos de los encargados de la Casa de Yahvé; y ellos lo gastaban para pagar a los carpinteros y a los constructores que trabajaban en la Casa de Yahvé;
12 and to the masons and the stone cutters, and for buying timber and cut stone to repair the damage to Yahweh’s house, and for all that was laid out for the house to repair it.
y a los albañiles y a los canteros, y para comprar maderas y piedras labradas, necesarias para las reparaciones de la Casa de Yahvé y para todo lo que se gastaba en la reparación de la Casa.
13 But there were not made for Yahweh’s house cups of silver, snuffers, basins, trumpets, any vessels of gold or vessels of silver, of the money that was brought into Yahweh’s house;
Pero de ese dinero que ingresaba en la Casa de Yahvé, no se hacían para la Casa de Yahvé fuentes de plata, ni cuchillos, ni aspersorios, ni trompetas, ni utensilio alguno de oro y plata,
14 for they gave that to those who did the work, and repaired Yahweh’s house with it.
sino que se daba a quienes hacían la obra; y ellos restauraban con ello la Casa de Yahvé.
15 Moreover they didn’t demand an accounting from the men into whose hand they delivered the money to give to those who did the work; for they dealt faithfully.
No se tomaban cuentas a los hombres, en cuyas manos se entregaba el dinero, para dárselo a los que hacían las obras, porque trabajaban con probidad.
16 The money for the trespass offerings and the money for the sin offerings was not brought into Yahweh’s house. It was the priests’.
No ingresaba en la Casa de Yahvé el dinero de los sacrificios por la culpa o por el pecado, pues este era de los sacerdotes.
17 Then Hazael king of Syria went up and fought against Gath, and took it; and Hazael set his face to go up to Jerusalem.
Entontonces subió Hazael, rey de Siria, atacó a Gat y la tomó. Mas cuando Hazael se puso a subir contra Jerusalén,
18 Jehoash king of Judah took all the holy things that Jehoshaphat and Jehoram and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own holy things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of Yahweh’s house, and of the king’s house, and sent it to Hazael king of Syria; and he went away from Jerusalem.
tomó Joás, rey de Judá, todos los objetos sagrados que habían consagrado sus padres Josafat y Joram y Ococías, reyes de Judá, y los que él mismo había dedicado, juntamente con el oro que se hallaba en los tesoros de la Casa de Yahvé, y en la casa del rey, y lo envió a Hazael, rey de Siria, que entonces se retiró de Jerusalén.
19 Now the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
Las demás cosas de Joás, y todo lo que hizo, ¿no está esto escrito en el libro de los anales de los reyes de Judá?
20 His servants arose and made a conspiracy, and struck Joash at the house of Millo, on the way that goes down to Silla.
Se sublevaron sus servidores, y haciendo una conspiración, mataron a Joás en Betmilló, a la bajada de Silá.
21 For Jozacar the son of Shimeath, and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, struck him, and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in David’s city; and Amaziah his son reigned in his place.
Sus servidores Josacar, hijo de Simeat, y Josabad, hijo de Somer, le hirieron de modo que murió. Le sepultaron con sus padres, en la ciudad de David, y en su lugar reinó su hijo Amasías.
