2 Corinthians 9
1 It is indeed unnecessary for me to write to you concerning the service to the saints,
Quant au secours destiné aux fidèles, il est bien superflu que je vous en écrive;
2 for I know your readiness, of which I boast on your behalf to those of Macedonia, that Achaia has been prepared for the past year. Your zeal has stirred up very many of them.
car je sais votre bonne volonté, et je m'en fais gloire auprès des Macédoniens: «L'Achaïe, leur dis-je, est prête depuis l'année dernière», et votre zèle a été un stimulant pour la plupart.
3 But I have sent the brothers so that our boasting on your behalf may not be in vain in this respect, that, just as I said, you may be prepared,
Et maintenant je vous envoie les frères pour que l'éloge que j'ai fait de vous ne reçoive pas en cela un démenti, et que vous soyez prêts comme je l'ai dit.
4 lest by any means, if anyone from Macedonia comes there with me and finds you unprepared, we (to say nothing of you) would be disappointed in this confident boasting.
Car enfin, si les Macédoniens arrivent avec moi et ne vous trouvent pas prêts, quelle honte pour nous (et permettez-moi d'ajouter, pour vous) qu'une telle confiance!
5 I thought it necessary therefore to entreat the brothers that they would go before to you and arrange ahead of time the generous gift that you promised before, that the same might be ready as a matter of generosity, and not of greediness.
J'ai donc jugé nécessaire de prier les frères de prendre les devants auprès de vous, pour vous faire organiser d'avance la libéralité annoncée, qu'elle soit prête, qu'elle soit une vraie libéralité et non une lésinerie.
6 Remember this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly. He who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
Écoutez ceci: Celui qui sème chichement, récoltera chichement et celui qui sème libéralement, récoltera aussi libéralement.
7 Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
Que chacun donne ce qu'il a décidé en son coeur de donner, sans chagrin, sans contrainte; «Dieu aime celui qui donne joyeusement».
8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that you, always having all sufficiency in everything, may abound to every good work.
Dieu peut vous combler de toutes ses grâces, de sorte qu'ayant toujours et en tout votre suffisance, vous ayez encore du superflu pour toutes les bonnes oeuvres,
9 As it is written, “He has scattered abroad. He has given to the poor. His righteousness remains forever.” (aiōn g165)
selon qu'il est écrit: «Il a répandu, il a donné aux pauvres, Sa justice demeure à toujours.» (aiōn g165)
10 Now may he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, supply and multiply your seed for sowing, and increase the fruits of your righteousness,
Celui qui fournit La semence au semeur, Et le pain dont il se nourrit» vous fournira, vous multipliera la semence et augmentera «les fruits de votre justice.»
11 you being enriched in everything for all generosity, which produces thanksgiving to God through us.
Vous serez ainsi comblés de richesses pour de grandes libéralités qui nous feront rendre, à nous, des actions de grâces à Dieu.
12 For this service of giving that you perform not only makes up for lack among the saints, but abounds also through much giving of thanks to God,
Car l'accomplissement de cette oeuvre sainte n'aura pas seulement pour effet de subvenir aux besoins des fidèles, mais encore il y aura un excédent qui consistera en ferventes actions de grâces rendues à Dieu.
13 seeing that through the proof given by this service, they glorify God for the obedience of your confession to the Good News of Christ and for the generosity of your contribution to them and to all,
Ils le glorifieront parce que ce secours leur aura prouvé votre soumission, votre adhésion à l'Évangile du Christ, votre libéralité, votre communion avec eux et avec tous.
14 while they themselves also, with supplication on your behalf, yearn for you by reason of the exceeding grace of God in you.
Ils prieront pour vous, ils éprouveront de l'affection pour vous en voyant les grâces dont Dieu vous a comblés!
15 Now thanks be to God for his unspeakable gift!
Ah! grâces à Dieu pour son ineffable don!
