1 Thessalonians 4

1 Finally then, brothers, we beg and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, that you abound more and more.

Preciso lhes dizer apenas mais algumas coisas. Irmãos e irmãs, nós pedimos e insistimos com vocês, em nome do Senhor Jesus, para que se comportem como os orientamos, para que, assim, Deus fique feliz. Sabemos que vocês já estão fazendo isso. Mas apenas reforçamos, para que ajam assim cada vez mais!

2 For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus.

Ficamos contentes por vocês se lembrarem das orientações que lhes demos, em nome do Senhor Jesus.

3 For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality,

Pois o que Deus deseja é que vocês vivam de uma maneira santa. Então, afastem-se da imoralidade sexual,

4 that each one of you know how to control his own body in sanctification and honor,

para que cada um de vocês consiga se controlar de uma maneira santa e com respeito

5 not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don’t know God,

e para que não se entreguem às paixões descontroladas, como fazem os pagãos que não conhecem a Deus.

6 that no one should take advantage of and wrong a brother or sister in this matter; because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as also we forewarned you and testified.

Não enganem ou tirem vantagem de outro cristão sobre essas questões, pois o Senhor castigará os que fazem essas coisas, como já explicamos para vocês e os alertamos.

7 For God called us not for uncleanness, but in sanctification.

Pois Deus não nos chamou para viver de modo impuro, mas para termos vidas santas.

8 Therefore he who rejects this doesn’t reject man, but God, who has also given his Holy Spirit to you.

Então, aquele que rejeita esse ensinamento não está rejeitando apenas o que um ser humano está dizendo, mas está rejeitando a Deus. E é Deus quem dá o seu Espírito Santo para vocês.

9 But concerning brotherly love, you have no need that one write to you. For you yourselves are taught by God to love one another,

Nós certamente não precisamos escrever e lhes dizer para que amem os irmãos na fé, pois Deus os ensina a amarem uns aos outros.

10 for indeed you do it toward all the brothers who are in all Macedonia. But we exhort you, brothers, that you abound more and more;

E, na verdade, vocês estão demonstrando esse amor a todos os irmãos da Macedônia. Mesmo assim, queremos incentivá-los, irmãos e irmãs, a amarem cada vez mais uns aos outros.

11 and that you make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, even as we instructed you,

Tentem viver de uma maneira tranquila, cuidando de sua própria vida, fazendo o seu trabalho, exatamente como explicamos para que fizessem,

12 that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and may have need of nothing.

para que a sua forma de viver seja respeitada pelos não cristãos e para que não precisem contar com ninguém para ter o que precisam.

13 But we don’t want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you don’t grieve like the rest, who have no hope.

Irmãos e irmãs, não queremos que sejam ignorantes sobre o que acontece com as pessoas que morrem, pois, assim, vocês não ficarão tristes como as outras pessoas, que não têm qualquer esperança.

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.

Pois, se cremos que Jesus morreu e que, depois, foi ressuscitado, também temos certeza de que Deus trará, juntamente com Jesus, aqueles que morreram crendo nele.

15 For this we tell you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will in no way precede those who have fallen asleep.

O que estamos dizendo a vocês vem do Senhor. Então, nós, os que estivermos vivos quando o Senhor vier certamente não iremos para o céu antes daqueles que morreram.

16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with God’s trumpet. The dead in Christ will rise first,

Pois o próprio Senhor descerá do céu, com um grito de comando, com o grito do arcanjo e com o som da trombeta de Deus, e aqueles que morreram em Cristo ressuscitarão primeiro.

17 then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. So we will be with the Lord forever.

Depois, nós, os que estivermos vivos, seremos levados nas nuvens, junto com eles, para nos encontrarmos com o Senhor no ar. Então, estaremos com o Senhor para sempre!

18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

Por isso, animem uns aos outros com essas palavras.
