< 1 Peter 2 >

1 Putting away therefore all wickedness, all deceit, hypocrisies, envies, and all evil speaking,
Nítorí náà, ẹ fi àrankàn gbogbo sílẹ̀ ni apá kan, àti ẹ̀tàn gbogbo, àti àgàbàgebè, àti ìlara, àti sísọ ọ̀rọ̀ búburú gbogbo.
2 as newborn babies, long for the pure spiritual milk, that with it you may grow,
Bí ọmọ ọwọ́ tuntun, kí ẹ máa fẹ́ wàrà ti Ẹ̀mí, èyí tí kò lẹ́tàn, kí ẹ̀yin lè máa tipasẹ̀ rẹ̀ dàgbà sí ìgbàlà,
3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
nísinsin yìí tí ẹ̀yin ti tọ́ ọ wò pé rere ni Olúwa.
4 Come to him, a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, precious.
Ẹni tí ẹ̀yin ń tọ̀ bọ̀, sí bi òkúta ààyè náà, èyí ti a ti ọwọ́ ènìyàn kọ̀ sílẹ̀ nítòótọ́, ṣùgbọ́n lọ́dọ̀ Ọlọ́run, àṣàyàn òkúta iyebíye.
5 You also as living stones are built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Ẹ̀yin pẹ̀lú, bí òkúta ààyè, ni a kọ́ ní ilé ẹ̀mí, àlùfáà mímọ́, láti máa rú ẹbọ ẹ̀mí, tí i ṣe ìtẹ́wọ́gbà lọ́dọ̀ Ọlọ́run nípa Jesu Kristi.
6 Because it is contained in Scripture, “Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, chosen and precious. He who believes in him will not be disappointed.”
Nítorí nínú Ìwé Mímọ́, ó wí pe: “Kíyèsi i, mo fi pàtàkì òkúta igun ilé àṣàyàn, iyebíye, lélẹ̀ ni Sioni: ẹni tí ó bá sì gbà á gbọ́ ojú kì yóò tì í.”
7 For you who believe therefore is the honor, but for those who are disobedient, “The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone,”
Báyìí fún ẹ̀yin ti ẹ gbà á gbọ́, ó ṣe iyebíye; ṣùgbọ́n fún àwọn tí kò gbà á gbọ́, “Òkúta tí àwọn ọ̀mọ̀lé kọ̀sílẹ̀, òun ni ó di pàtàkì igun ilé,”
8 and, “a stumbling stone and a rock of offense.” For they stumble at the word, being disobedient, to which also they were appointed.
àti pẹ̀lú, “Òkúta ìdìgbòlù, àti àpáta ìkọ̀sẹ̀.” Nítorí wọ́n kọsẹ̀ nípa ṣíṣe àìgbọ́ràn sí ọ̀rọ̀ náà, sínú èyí tí a gbé yàn wọ́n sí pẹ̀lú.
9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
Ṣùgbọ́n ẹ̀yin ni ìran tí a yàn olú àlùfáà, Orílẹ̀-èdè mímọ́, ènìyàn ọ̀tọ̀ ki ẹ̀yin lè fi ọláńlá ẹni tí ó pè yín jáde kúrò nínú òkùnkùn sínú ìmọ́lẹ̀ ìyanu rẹ̀ hàn.
10 In the past, you were not a people, but now are God’s people, who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
Ẹ̀yin tí kì í ṣe ènìyàn nígbà kan rí, ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí, ẹ̀yin ti di ènìyàn Ọlọ́run, ẹ̀yin tí kò rí àánú gbà rí, ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí, ẹ ti rí àánú gbà.
11 Beloved, I beg you as foreigners and pilgrims to abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul,
Olùfẹ́ ọ̀wọ́n, mo bẹ̀ yín, bí àjèjì àti àtìpó, láti fàsẹ́yìn kúrò nínú ìfẹ́kúfẹ̀ẹ́ ara, tí ń ba ọkàn jagun.
12 having good behavior among the nations, so in that of which they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good works and glorify God in the day of visitation.
Kí ìwà yín láàrín àwọn aláìkọlà dára; pé, bí wọ́n ti ń sọ̀rọ̀ yín bí olùṣe búburú, nípa iṣẹ́ rere yín tí wọn ó máa kíyèsi, kí wọ́n lè máa yin Ọlọ́run lógo lọ́jọ́ ti òun ba bẹ̀ wá wò.
13 Therefore subject yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether to the king, as supreme,
Ẹ máa tẹríba fún gbogbo ìlànà ènìyàn nítorí ti Olúwa, ìbá à ṣe fún ọba tàbí fún olórí.
14 or to governors, as sent by him for vengeance on evildoers and for praise to those who do well.
Tàbí fún àwọn baálẹ̀, fún àwọn tí a rán láti ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ̀ láti gbẹ̀san lára àwọn tí ń ṣe búburú, àti fún ìyìn àwọn tí ń ṣe rere.
15 For this is the will of God, that by well-doing you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.
Ìfẹ́ Ọlọ́run sá ni èyí pé, ní rere í ṣe, kí ẹ lè dẹ́kun ọ̀rọ̀ àìmọ̀kan òmùgọ̀ ènìyàn.
16 Live as free people, yet not using your freedom for a cloak of wickedness, but as bondservants of God.
Ẹ máa gbé gẹ́gẹ́ bí ẹni òmìnira, ṣùgbọ́n ẹ ma ṣe lo òmìnira yín láti bo ibi mọ́lẹ̀; ṣùgbọ́n kí ẹ gbé gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìránṣẹ́ Ọlọ́run.
17 Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.
Ẹ bọ̀wọ̀ fún gbogbo ènìyàn, ẹ fẹ́ àwọn ará, ẹ bẹ̀rù Ọlọ́run, ẹ bọ̀wọ̀ fún ọba.
18 Servants, be in subjection to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the wicked.
Ẹ̀yin ọmọ ọ̀dọ̀, ẹ máa tẹríba fún àwọn ọ̀gá yín pẹ̀lú ìbẹ̀rù gbogbo, kì í ṣe fún àwọn ẹni rere àti oníwà tútù nìkan, ṣùgbọ́n fún àwọn òǹrorò pẹ̀lú.
19 For it is commendable if someone endures pain, suffering unjustly, because of conscience toward God.
Nítorí pé èyí ní ìgbóríyìn fún, bí ènìyàn bá fi ara da ìrora, ìjìyà lọ́nà àìtọ́, nítorí ọkàn rere sí Ọlọ́run.
20 For what glory is it if, when you sin, you patiently endure beating? But if when you do well, you patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with God.
Ṣùgbọ́n ògo kín ni ó jẹ́, nígbà tí ẹ ba ṣẹ̀ tí a sì lù yín, bí ẹ bá fi sùúrù gbà á? Ṣùgbọ́n nígbà tí ẹ̀yin bá ń ṣe rere tí ẹ sì ń jìyà, bí ẹ bá fi sùúrù gbà á, ẹ̀yín ní ọpẹ́ lọ́dọ̀ Ọlọ́run.
21 For you were called to this, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example, that you should follow his steps,
Sí èyí ni a pè yín: nítorí Kristi pẹ̀lú jìyà fún un yin, ó fi àpẹẹrẹ sílẹ̀ fún un yín, kí ẹ̀yin lè máa tọ ipasẹ̀ rẹ̀:
22 who didn’t sin, “neither was deceit found in his mouth.”
“Òun kò dẹ́ṣẹ̀ kankan, bẹ́ẹ̀ sì ni, a kò rí ẹ̀tàn kan lẹ́nu rẹ̀.”
23 When he was cursed, he didn’t curse back. When he suffered, he didn’t threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously.
Ẹni, nígbà tí a kẹ́gàn rẹ̀, tí kò sì padà kẹ́gàn; nígbà tí ó jìyà tí kò sì halẹ̀; ṣùgbọ́n ó fi ọ̀ràn rẹ̀ lé ẹni ti ń ṣe ìdájọ́ òdodo lọ́wọ́.
24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness. You were healed by his wounds.
Ẹni tí òun tìkára rẹ̀ fi ara rẹ̀ ru ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ wa lórí igi àgbélébùú, pé kí àwa lè di òkú sí ẹ̀ṣẹ̀, ki a sì di ààyè sí òdodo, nípa ìjìyà ẹni tí ó mú yín láradá.
25 For you were going astray like sheep; but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
Nítorí tí ẹ̀yin ń ṣáko lọ bí àgùntàn, ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí ẹ̀yin ti padà sí ọ̀dọ̀ olùṣọ́-àgùntàn àti bíṣọ́ọ̀bù ọkàn yín.
