1 Peter 2
1 Putting away therefore all wickedness, all deceit, hypocrisies, envies, and all evil speaking,
Por tanto desechen toda maldad, engaño, hipocresía, envidias y maledicencia.
2 as newborn babies, long for the pure spiritual milk, that with it you may grow,
Deseen como bebés recién nacidos la leche espiritual no adulterada para que por medio de ella crezcan en [la] salvación,
3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
pues ustedes experimentaron la benignidad del Señor.
4 Come to him, a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, precious.
Acérquense a [Cristo], Piedra Viva, ciertamente desechada por [los] hombres, pero para Dios escogida, preciosa.
5 You also as living stones are built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Ustedes también, como piedras vivas, son edificados como casa espiritual y sacerdocio santo para ofrecer sacrificios espirituales aceptables a Dios por medio de Jesucristo.
6 Because it is contained in Scripture, “Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, chosen and precious. He who believes in him will not be disappointed.”
Por lo cual dice la Escritura: Ciertamente, pongo en Sion la Piedra del ángulo, escogida, preciosa. Y el que cree en Él, Que de ningún modo sea avergonzado.
7 For you who believe therefore is the honor, but for those who are disobedient, “The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone,”
[Él] es precioso para ustedes los que creen, pero para los incrédulos: [La ]piedra que desecharon los edificadores Fue establecida como la cabeza del ángulo.
8 and, “a stumbling stone and a rock of offense.” For they stumble at the word, being disobedient, to which also they were appointed.
Y: Piedra de tropiezo y roca que hace caer. Éstos, al ser desobedientes, tropiezan en la Palabra. Tal es su destino.
9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
Pero ustedes son linaje escogido, sacerdocio real, nación santa, pueblo adquirido por Dios para que proclamen las virtudes del que los llamó de la oscuridad a su luz admirable,
10 In the past, you were not a people, but now are God’s people, who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
los que en un tiempo no eran pueblo, pero ahora son pueblo de Dios, los no compadecidos por misericordia, pero ahora compadecidos por misericordia.
11 Beloved, I beg you as foreigners and pilgrims to abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul,
Amados, les ruego como a extranjeros y peregrinos, que se abstengan de los ardientes deseos humanos que se enfrentan en batalla contra el alma.
12 having good behavior among the nations, so in that of which they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good works and glorify God in the day of visitation.
Sea buena su manera de vivir entre los gentiles, para que cuando los malhechores murmuren de ustedes, glorifiquen a Dios cuando vean sus obras buenas [el] día de la supervisión.
13 Therefore subject yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether to the king, as supreme,
Por causa del Señor, sométanse a toda institución que tiene poder como máxima autoridad,
14 or to governors, as sent by him for vengeance on evildoers and for praise to those who do well.
tanto a los gobernadores, como a los enviados por ellos para castigar a los malhechores y para aprobar a los que hacen bien.
15 For this is the will of God, that by well-doing you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.
Porque así es la voluntad de Dios, que por hacer bien, callen la ignorancia de los hombres insensatos.
16 Live as free people, yet not using your freedom for a cloak of wickedness, but as bondservants of God.
[Vivan] como libres, como esclavos de Dios, pero no como si tuvieran la libertad como pretexto para la maldad.
17 Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.
Honren a todos, amen a la hermandad, teman a Dios, honren al rey.
18 Servants, be in subjection to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the wicked.
Esclavos, sométanse con todo respeto a sus amos, no solo a los buenos y apacibles, sino también a los ásperos.
19 For it is commendable if someone endures pain, suffering unjustly, because of conscience toward God.
Porque esto merece aprobación: cuando alguno soporta aflicciones y padece injustamente por causa de la conciencia delante de Dios.
20 For what glory is it if, when you sin, you patiently endure beating? But if when you do well, you patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with God.
Pues ¿qué mérito tienen si son abofeteados por pecar y soportan? Pero si cuando hacen el bien soportan y padecen, esto ciertamente es agradable ante Dios,
21 For you were called to this, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example, that you should follow his steps,
porque para esto fueron llamados. También Cristo padeció por nosotros y nos dejó ejemplo para que ustedes sigan sus pisadas.
22 who didn’t sin, “neither was deceit found in his mouth.”
Él no pecó, ni fue hallado engaño en su boca.
23 When he was cursed, he didn’t curse back. When he suffered, he didn’t threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously.
Cuando era insultado, no replicaba. Cuando padecía, no amenazaba, sino se encomendaba al que juzga justamente.
24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness. You were healed by his wounds.
Él mismo llevó nuestros pecados en su cuerpo sobre el madero para que nosotros muramos a los pecados y vivamos para la justicia. Por su herida fueron sanados.
25 For you were going astray like sheep; but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
Ustedes eran como ovejas descarriadas, pero ahora volvieron al Pastor y Supervisor de sus almas.
