1 Corinthians 9

1 Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Haven’t I seen Jesus Christ, our Lord? Aren’t you my work in the Lord?

¿No soy yo apóstol? ¿no soy libre? ¿no he visto a Jesu Cristo el Señor nuestro? ¿no sois vosotros mi obra en el Señor?

2 If to others I am not an apostle, yet at least I am to you; for you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.

Si para los otros no soy apóstol, sin embargo para vosotros ciertamente lo soy; porque el sello de mi apostolado vosotros sois en el Señor.

3 My defense to those who examine me is this:

Mi respuesta para con los que me preguntan, es esta:

4 Have we no right to eat and to drink?

¿No tenemos potestad de comer y de beber?

5 Have we no right to take along a wife who is a believer, even as the rest of the apostles, and the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas?

¿No tenemos potestad de traer con nosotros aquí y allá una hermana, mujer, como también los otros apóstoles, y los hermanos del Señor, y Céfas?

6 Or have only Barnabas and I no right to not work?

¿O será que solo yo y Barnabás no tenemos potestad de no trabajar?

7 What soldier ever serves at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard, and doesn’t eat of its fruit? Or who feeds a flock, and doesn’t drink from the flock’s milk?

¿Quién jamás salió a la guerra a sus propias expensas? ¿Quién planta viña, y no come de su fruto? ¿o quién apacienta el rebaño, y no come de la leche del rebaño?

8 Do I speak these things according to the ways of men? Or doesn’t the law also say the same thing?

¿Digo yo esto como hombre? ¿No dice lo mismo también la ley?

9 For it is written in the law of Moses, “You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain.” Is it for the oxen that God cares,

Porque en la ley de Moisés está escrito: No embozalarás la boca al buey que trilla. ¿Tiene Dios cuidado tan solo de los bueyes?

10 or does he say it assuredly for our sake? Yes, it was written for our sake, because he who plows ought to plow in hope, and he who threshes in hope should partake of his hope.

¿O díce lo particularmente por causa de nosotros? Por causa de nosotros sin duda está escrito: que con esperanza debe arar el que ara; y el que trilla, con esperanza de participar de su esperanza.

11 If we sowed to you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we reap your fleshly things?

Si nosotros os sembramos las cosas espirituales, ¿será gran cosa si segáremos vuestras cosas carnales?

12 If others partake of this right over you, don’t we yet more? Nevertheless we didn’t use this right, but we bear all things, that we may cause no hindrance to the Good News of Christ.

Si otros son partícipes de esta potestad sobre vosotros, ¿ por qué no más bien nosotros? Mas no usamos de esta potestad, antes lo sufrimos todo por no dar alguna interrupción al evangelio de Cristo.

13 Don’t you know that those who serve around sacred things eat from the things of the temple, and those who wait on the altar have their portion with the altar?

¿No sabéis que los que ministran en las cosas santas, comen de las cosas del templo? ¿y los que sirven al altar, con el altar participan?

14 Even so the Lord ordained that those who proclaim the Good News should live from the Good News.

Así también ha ordenado el Señor a los que anuncian el evangelio, que vivan del evangelio.

15 But I have used none of these things, and I don’t write these things that it may be done so in my case; for I would rather die, than that anyone should make my boasting void.

Mas yo de nada de esto me he aprovechado; ni tampoco he escrito esto para que se haga así conmigo; porque es mejor para mí morir, antes que nadie haga vana mi glorificación.

16 For if I preach the Good News, I have nothing to boast about, for necessity is laid on me; but woe is to me if I don’t preach the Good News.

Porque aunque anuncie el evangelio, no tengo por qué gloriarme; porque me está impuesta necesidad; y ¡ay de mí, si no anunciare el evangelio!

17 For if I do this of my own will, I have a reward. But if not of my own will, I have a stewardship entrusted to me.

Por lo cual si hago esto de voluntad, premio tendré; mas si por fuerza, la dispensación del evangelio me ha sido encargada.

18 What then is my reward? That when I preach the Good News, I may present the Good News of Christ without charge, so as not to abuse my authority in the Good News.

¿Qué premio pues tendré? Cierto, que predicando el evangelio, ponga el evangelio de Cristo de balde, por no usar mal de mi potestad en el evangelio.

19 For though I was free from all, I brought myself under bondage to all, that I might gain the more.

Por lo cual siendo libre para con todos, me he hecho siervo de todos, por ganar a más.

20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain those who are under the law;

Me he hecho para los Judíos como Judío, por ganar a los Judíos; para los que están sujetos a la ley, como sujeto a la ley, por ganar a los que están sujetos a la ley.

21 to those who are without law, as without law (not being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law.

Para los que están sin ley, como sin ley, (no estando yo sin ley para con Dios, mas bajo la ley para con Cristo, ) por ganar a los que estaban sin ley.

22 To the weak I became as weak, that I might gain the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I may by all means save some.

Me he hecho para los flacos como flaco, por ganar a los flacos. Me he hecho todo para todos, para que todo punto salve a algunos.

23 Now I do this for the sake of the Good News, that I may be a joint partaker of it.

Y esto hago por causa del evangelio, para ser hecho con vosotros partícipe de él.

24 Don’t you know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run like that, so that you may win.

¿No sabéis que los que corren en el estadio, todos corren, mas uno solo lleva el premio? Corréd pues de tal manera que le alcancéis.

25 Every man who strives in the games exercises self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible.

Y todo aquel que se ejercita en la lucha, es sobrio en todo; y aquellos lo hacen para recibir una corona corruptible; mas nosotros, incorruptible.

26 I therefore run like that, not aimlessly. I fight like that, not beating the air,

Así que yo de esta manera corro, no como a cosa incierta: de esta manera peleo, no como quien hiere al aire.

27 but I beat my body and bring it into submission, lest by any means, after I have preached to others, I myself should be disqualified.

Antes hiero mi cuerpo, y le pongo en servidumbre; para que predicando a los otros, no sea yo mismo reprobado.
