< 1 Corinthians 14 >

1 Follow after love and earnestly desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.
Ẹ máa lépa ìfẹ́, ki ẹ sí máa fi ìtara ṣàfẹ́rí ẹ̀bùn tí í ṣe ti Ẹ̀mí, ṣùgbọ́n ki ẹ kúkú lé máa sọtẹ́lẹ̀.
2 For he who speaks in another language speaks not to men, but to God, for no one understands, but in the Spirit he speaks mysteries.
Nítorí ẹni tí ń sọ̀rọ̀ ní èdè àìmọ̀, kò bá ènìyàn sọ̀rọ̀ bì ko ṣe Ọlọ́run: nítorí kó sí ẹni tí ó gbọ́; ṣùgbọ́n nípá ti Ẹ̀mí ó ń sọ ohun ìjìnlẹ̀.
3 But he who prophesies speaks to men for their edification, exhortation, and consolation.
Ṣùgbọ́n ẹni tí ń sọtẹ́lẹ̀ ń ba àwọn ènìyàn sọ̀rọ̀ fún ìmúdúró, àti ìgbaniníyànjú, àti ìtùnú.
4 He who speaks in another language edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the assembly.
Ẹni tí ń sọ̀rọ̀ ni èdè àìmọ̀ ń fi ẹsẹ̀ ara rẹ̀ mulẹ̀; ṣùgbọ́n ẹni ti ń sọtẹ́lẹ̀ ń fi ẹsẹ̀ ìjọ múlẹ̀.
5 Now I desire to have you all speak with other languages, but even more that you would prophesy. For he is greater who prophesies than he who speaks with other languages, unless he interprets, that the assembly may be built up.
Ṣùgbọ́n ìbá wù mí ki gbogbo yín lè máa sọ onírúurú èdè, ṣùgbọ́n kí ẹ kúkú máa sọtẹ́lẹ̀, ẹni tí ń sọtẹ́lẹ̀ pọ̀ jú ẹni ti ń fèdèfọ̀ lọ, bi kọ ṣe pé ó bá ń ṣe ìtumọ̀, kí ìjọ bá à lè kọ́ ẹ̀kọ́.
6 But now, brothers, if I come to you speaking with other languages, what would I profit you unless I speak to you either by way of revelation, or of knowledge, or of prophesying, or of teaching?
Ǹjẹ́ nísinsin yìí, ará, bí mo bá wá sí àárín yín, tí mo sì ń sọ̀rọ̀ ní èdè àìmọ̀, èrè kín ni èmi yóò jẹ́ fún yin, bi ko ṣe pé mo bá ń bá yín sọ̀rọ̀, yálà nípa ìṣípayá, tàbí ìmọ̀ tàbí nípá ìsọtẹ́lẹ̀, tàbí nípa ẹ̀kọ́?
7 Even lifeless things that make a sound, whether pipe or harp, if they didn’t give a distinction in the sounds, how would it be known what is piped or harped?
Bẹ́ẹ̀ ní pẹ̀lú àwọn nǹkan tí kò ní ẹ̀mí tí ń dún, ìbá à ṣe fèrè tàbí dùùrù bí kò ṣe pé ìyàtọ̀ bá wà nínú wọn, a ó tí ṣe mọ ohùn tí fèrè tàbí tí dùùrù ń wí?
8 For if the trumpet gave an uncertain sound, who would prepare himself for war?
Nítorí pé bi ohùn ìpè kò bá dájú, ta ni yóò múra fún ogun?
9 So also you, unless you uttered by the tongue words easy to understand, how would it be known what is spoken? For you would be speaking into the air.
Bẹ́ẹ̀ sí ni ẹ̀yin, bí kò ṣe pé ẹ̀yin bá ń fi ahọ́n yín sọ̀rọ̀ tí ó yé ni, a ó ti ṣe mọ ohun ti ẹ ń wí? Nítorí pé ẹ̀yin yóò kàn máa sọ̀rọ̀ si afẹ́fẹ́ lásán.
10 There are, it may be, so many kinds of languages in the world, and none of them is without meaning.
Ó lé jẹ́ pé onírúurú ohùn èdè ní ń bẹ ní ayé, kò sí ọ̀kan tí kò ní ìtumọ̀.
11 If then I don’t know the meaning of the language, I would be to him who speaks a foreigner, and he who speaks would be a foreigner to me.
Ǹjẹ́ bí èmí kò mọ ìtumọ̀ ohùn èdè náà, èmí ó jásí aláìgbédè sí ẹni tí ń sọ̀rọ̀, ẹni tí ń sọ̀rọ̀ yóò sí jásí aláìgbédè sí mi.
12 So also you, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, seek that you may abound to the building up of the assembly.
Bẹ́ẹ̀ sì ní ẹ̀yin, bí ẹ̀yin ti ní ìtara fún ẹ̀bùn Ẹ̀mí, ẹ máa ṣe àfẹ́rí àti máa pọ̀ sí i fún ìdàgbàsókè ìjọ.
13 Therefore let him who speaks in another language pray that he may interpret.
Nítorí náà jẹ́ ki ẹni tí ń sọ̀rọ̀ ni èdè àìmọ̀ gbàdúrà ki ó lè máa ṣe ìtumọ̀ ohun tí ó sọ.
14 For if I pray in another language, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.
Nítorí bí èmi bá ń gbàdúrà ní èdè àìmọ̀, ẹ̀mí mi ni ń gbàdúrà, ṣùgbọ́n ọkàn mi jẹ́ aláìléso.
15 What should I do? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also. I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
Ǹjẹ́ kín ni èmi yóò ṣe? Èmi yóò fi ẹ̀mí mi gbàdúrà, èmi yóò sí fi òye mi gbàdúrà pẹ̀lú; Èmi yóò fi ẹ̀mí mi kọrin, èmi yóò sí fi òye mi kọrin pẹ̀lú.
16 Otherwise, if you bless with the spirit, how will he who fills the place of the unlearned say the “Amen” at your giving of thanks, seeing he doesn’t know what you say?
Bí bẹ́ẹ̀ kọ́, bí ìwọ bá yin Ọlọ́run nípa ẹ̀mí, báwo ni ẹni tí ń bẹ ni ipò òpè yóò ṣe ṣe “Àmín” si ìdúpẹ́ rẹ, nígbà tí kò mọ ohun tí ìwọ wí?
17 For you most certainly give thanks well, but the other person is not built up.
Nítorí ìwọ dúpẹ́ gidigidi nítòótọ́, ṣùgbọ́n a kó fi ẹsẹ̀ ẹnìkejì rẹ múlẹ̀.
18 I thank my God, I speak with other languages more than you all.
Mó dúpẹ́ lọ́wọ́ Ọlọ́run tí èmi ń fọ onírúurú èdè ju gbogbo yín lọ.
19 However, in the assembly I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that I might instruct others also, than ten thousand words in another language.
Ṣùgbọ́n mo fẹ́ kí n kúkú fi ọkàn mi sọ ọ̀rọ̀ márùn-ún ni inú ìjọ, kí n lè kọ́ àwọn ẹlòmíràn ju ẹgbẹ̀rún mẹ́wàá ọ̀rọ̀ ni èdè àìmọ̀.
20 Brothers, don’t be children in thoughts, yet in malice be babies, but in thoughts be mature.
Ará, ẹ má ṣe jẹ ọmọdé ni òye, ṣùgbọ́n ẹ jẹ́ ọmọdé ní àrankàn, ṣùgbọ́n ni òye ẹ jẹ́ àgbà.
21 In the law it is written, “By men of strange languages and by the lips of strangers I will speak to this people. They won’t even listen to me that way, says the Lord.”
A tí kọ ọ́ nínú òfin pé, “Nípa àwọn aláhọ́n mìíràn àti elétè àjèjì ní èmi ó fi ba àwọn ènìyàn yìí sọ̀rọ̀; síbẹ̀ wọn kì yóò gbọ́ tèmi,”
22 Therefore other languages are for a sign, not to those who believe, but to the unbelieving; but prophesying is for a sign, not to the unbelieving, but to those who believe.
Nítorí náà àwọn ahọ́n jásí àmì kan, kì í ṣe fún àwọn tí ó gbàgbọ́, bí kò ṣe fún àwọn aláìgbàgbọ́: ṣùgbọ́n ìsọtẹ́lẹ̀ kì í ṣe fún àwọn tí kò gbàgbọ́ bí kò ṣe fún àwọn tí ó gbàgbọ́.
23 If therefore the whole assembly is assembled together and all speak with other languages, and unlearned or unbelieving people come in, won’t they say that you are crazy?
Ǹjẹ́ bí gbogbo ìjọ bá péjọ sí ibi kan, tí gbogbo wọn sí ń fi èdè fọ̀, bí àwọn tí ó jẹ́ aláìlẹ́kọ̀ọ́ àti aláìgbàgbọ́ bá wọlé wá, wọn kí yóò ha wí pé ẹ̀yin ń ṣe òmùgọ̀?
24 But if all prophesy, and someone unbelieving or unlearned comes in, he is reproved by all, and he is judged by all.
Ṣùgbọ́n bí gbogbo yín bá ń sọtẹ́lẹ̀, ti ẹnìkan tí kò gbàgbọ́ tàbí tí ko ni ẹ̀kọ́ bá wọlé wá, gbogbo yin ní yóò fi òye ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ yé e, gbogbo yin ní yóò wádìí rẹ̀.
25 And thus the secrets of his heart are revealed. So he will fall down on his face and worship God, declaring that God is among you indeed.
Bẹ́ẹ̀ ní a ó sì fi àṣírí ọkàn rẹ̀ hàn; bẹ́ẹ̀ ni òun ó sì dojúbolẹ̀, yóò sí sin Ọlọ́run yóò sì sọ pé, “Nítòótọ́ Ọlọ́run ń bẹ láàrín yín!”
26 What is it then, brothers? When you come together, each one of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has another language, or has an interpretation. Let all things be done to build each other up.
Ǹjẹ́ èéha ti ṣe, kín ni àwa yóò sọ ẹ̀yin ará? Nígbà tí ẹ̀yin péjọpọ̀, tí olúkúlùkù yín ni Saamu kan tàbí ẹ̀kọ́ kan, èdè kan, ìfihàn kan àti ìtumọ̀ kan. Ẹ máa ṣe ohun gbogbo láti gbé ìjọ ró.
27 If any man speaks in another language, let there be two, or at the most three, and in turn; and let one interpret.
Bí ẹnìkan bá fi èdè fọ̀, kí ó jẹ ènìyàn méjì, tàbí bí ó pọ̀ tán, kí ó jẹ́ mẹ́ta, kí ó sọ̀rọ̀ ní ọ̀kọ̀ọ̀kan, kí ẹnìkan sì túmọ̀ rẹ̀.
28 But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in the assembly, and let him speak to himself and to God.
Ṣùgbọ́n bí kò bá sí ògbufọ̀, kí ó pa ẹnu rẹ̀ mọ́ nínú ìjọ; sì jẹ́ kí ó máa bá ara rẹ̀ àti Ọlọ́run sọ̀rọ̀.
29 Let two or three of the prophets speak, and let the others discern.
Jẹ́ kí àwọn wòlíì méjì tàbí mẹ́ta sọ̀rọ̀, ki àwọn ìyókù sì wòye ìtumọ̀ ohun tí a sọ.
30 But if a revelation is made to another sitting by, let the first keep silent.
Bí a bá sì fi ohunkóhun hàn ẹni tí ó jókòó níbẹ̀, jẹ́ kí ẹni tí ó kọ́ sọ̀rọ̀ ṣáájú dákẹ́.
31 For you all can prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be exhorted.
Nítorí gbogbo yín lè sọtẹ́lẹ̀ ni ọ̀kọ̀ọ̀kan, kí gbogbo yín lè kọ́ ẹ̀kọ́, kí a lè tu gbogbo yín nínú.
32 The spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets,
Ẹ̀mí àwọn wòlíì a sí máa tẹríba fún àwọn wòlíì.
33 for God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the assemblies of the saints.
Nítorí Ọlọ́run kì í ṣe Ọlọ́run ohun rúdurùdu, ṣùgbọ́n ti àlàáfíà. Gẹ́gẹ́ bí ó ti jẹ́ nínú gbogbo ìjọ ènìyàn mímọ́.
34 Let the wives be quiet in the assemblies, for it has not been permitted for them to be talking except in submission, as the law also says,
Jẹ́ ki àwọn obìnrin yín dákẹ́ nínú ìjọ, nítorí a kò fi fún wọn láti sọ̀rọ̀, ṣùgbọ́n jẹ́ kí wọn wà lábẹ́ ìtẹríba, gẹ́gẹ́ bí òfin pẹ̀lú ti wí.
35 if they desire to learn anything. “Let them ask their own husbands at home, for it is shameful for a wife to be talking in the assembly.”
Bí wọ́n bá sì fẹ́ mọ̀ nípa ohunkóhun, kí wọn béèrè lọ́wọ́ ọkọ wọn ní ilé; nítorí ohun ìtìjú ni fún àwọn obìnrin láti máa sọ̀rọ̀ nínú ìjọ.
36 What!? Was it from you that the word of God went out? Or did it come to you alone?
Kín ni? Ṣe lọ́dọ̀ yín ní ọ̀rọ̀ Ọlọ́run ti jáde ni, tàbí ẹ̀yin nìkan ni o tọ̀ wá?
37 If any man thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him recognize the things which I write to you, that they are the commandment of the Lord.
Bí ẹnikẹ́ni bá ró ará rẹ̀ pé òun jẹ́ wòlíì, tàbí òun jẹ́ ẹni tí ó ní ẹ̀bùn ẹ̀mí, jẹ́ kí nǹkan wọ̀nyí ti mo kọ sí yin yé e dájú pé òfin Olúwa ni wọ́n.
38 But if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant.
Ṣùgbọ́n bí ẹnìkan bá fi ojú fo èyí dá, òun fúnra rẹ̀ ní a ó fi ojú fò dá.
39 Therefore, brothers, desire earnestly to prophesy, and don’t forbid speaking with other languages.
Nítorí náà ará, ẹ máa fi ìtara ṣàfẹ́rí láti sọtẹ́lẹ̀, kí ẹ má sì ṣe dánilẹ́kun láti fi èdè fọ̀.
40 Let all things be done decently and in order.
Ẹ máa ṣe ohun gbogbo tẹ̀yẹtẹ̀yẹ àti lẹ́sẹẹsẹ.
