1 Corinthians 13

1 If I speak with the languages of men and of angels, but don’t have love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.

Si yo hablase en lenguas de hombres y de ángeles, y no tuviese caridad, soy hecho como metal que resuena, o platillo que retiñe.

2 If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but don’t have love, I am nothing.

Y si tuviese el don de profecía, y entendiese todos los misterios, y toda ciencia; y si tuviese toda la fe, de manera que pudiese traspasar las montañas, y no tuviera caridad, nada soy.

3 If I give away all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but don’t have love, it profits me nothing.

Y si repartiese toda mi hacienda para dar de comer a pobres; y si entregase mi cuerpo para ser quemado, y no tuviere caridad, de nada me sirve.

4 Love is patient and is kind. Love doesn’t envy. Love doesn’t brag, is not proud,

La caridad es sufrida, es benigna: la caridad no tiene envidia: la caridad no es jactanciosa, no es hinchada,

5 doesn’t behave itself inappropriately, doesn’t seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil;

No se comporta indecorosamente, no busca lo que es suyo, no se irrita, no piensa mal,

6 doesn’t rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;

No se huelga en la injusticia, mas huélgase en la verdad:

7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.

Todo lo sufre, todo lo cree, todo lo espera, todo lo soporta.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will be done away with. Where there are various languages, they will cease. Where there is knowledge, it will be done away with.

La caridad nunca se acaba: aunque las profecías se han de acabar, y cesar las lenguas, y desaparecer la ciencia.

9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part;

Porque en parte conocemos, y en parte profetizamos.

10 but when that which is complete has come, then that which is partial will be done away with.

Mas después que venga lo que es lo perfecto, entonces lo que es en parte será abolido.

11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I felt as a child, I thought as a child. Now that I have become a man, I have put away childish things.

Cuando yo era niño, hablaba como niño, pensaba como niño, sabía como niño; mas cuando ya fui hombre hecho, puse a un lado las cosas de niño.

12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, even as I was also fully known.

Porque ahora vemos por espejo oscuramente; mas entonces, cara a cara. Ahora conozco en parte; mas entonces conoceré como soy conocido.

13 But now faith, hope, and love remain—these three. The greatest of these is love.

Y ahora permanece la fe, la esperanza, y la caridad, estas tres; empero la mayor de ellas es la caridad.
