1 Corinthians 1
1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes,
Pablo, llamado a ser apóstol de Jesucristo por la voluntad de Dios, y Sóstenes, el hermano,
2 to the assembly of God which is at Corinth—those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called saints, with all who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, both theirs and ours:
a la Iglesia de Dios en Corinto, a los santificados en Cristo Jesús, santos por vocación, juntamente con todos los que, en cualquier lugar, invocan el nombre de Jesucristo Señor nuestro, de ellos y de nosotros:
3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
gracia a vosotros y paz, de parte de Dios nuestro Padre, y del Señor Jesucristo.
4 I always thank my God concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus,
Doy gracias sin cesar a mi Dios por vosotros, a causa de la gracia de Dios que os ha sido dada en Cristo Jesús;
5 that in everything you were enriched in him, in all speech and all knowledge—
por cuanto en todo habéis sido enriquecidos en Él, en toda palabra y en todo conocimiento,
6 even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you—
en la medida en que el testimonio de Cristo ha sido confirmado en vosotros.
7 so that you come behind in no gift, waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Por tanto no quedáis inferiores en ningún carisma, en tanto que aguardáis la revelación de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo;
8 who will also confirm you until the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
el cual os hará firmes hasta el fin e irreprensibles en el día de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
9 God is faithful, through whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Fiel es Dios, por quien habéis sido llamados a la comunión de su Hijo Jesucristo Nuestro Señor.
10 Now I beg you, brothers, through the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfected together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
Os ruego, pues, hermanos, por el nombre de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, que habléis todos una misma cosa, y que no haya escisiones entre vosotros, sino que viváis perfectamente unidos en un mismo pensar y en un mismo sentir.
11 For it has been reported to me concerning you, my brothers, by those who are from Chloe’s household, that there are contentions among you.
Porque me he enterado respecto de vosotros, hermanos míos, por los de Cloe, que entre vosotros hay banderías.
12 Now I mean this, that each one of you says, “I follow Paul,” “I follow Apollos,” “I follow Cephas,” and, “I follow Christ.”
Hablo así porque cada uno de vosotros dice: “Yo soy de Pablo”, “yo de Apolo”, “yo de Cefas”, “yo de Cristo”.
13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized into the name of Paul?
¿Acaso Cristo está dividido? ¿Fue Pablo crucificado por vosotros, o fuisteis bautizados en el nombre de Pablo?
14 I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius,
Gracias doy a Dios de que a ninguno de vosotros he bautizado fuera de Crispo y Cayo;
15 so that no one should say that I had baptized you into my own name.
para que nadie diga que fuisteis bautizados en mi nombre.
16 (I also baptized the household of Stephanas; besides them, I don’t know whether I baptized any other.)
Bauticé también, verdad es, a la familia de Estéfanas; por lo demás, no me acuerdo de haber bautizado a otro alguno.
17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the Good News—not in wisdom of words, so that the cross of Christ wouldn’t be made void.
Porque no me envió Cristo a bautizar, sino a predicar el Evangelio, y eso no mediante sabiduría de palabras, para que no se inutilice la Cruz de Cristo.
18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are dying, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
La doctrina de la Cruz es, en efecto, locura para los que perecen; pero para nosotros los que somos salvados, es fuerza de Dios.
19 For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise. I will bring the discernment of the discerning to nothing.”
Porque escrito está: “Destruiré la sabiduría de los sabios, y anularé la prudencia de los prudentes”.
20 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Hasn’t God made foolish the wisdom of this world? (aiōn g165)
¿Dónde está el sabio? ¿Dónde el escriba? ¿Dónde el disputador de este siglo? ¿No ha trocado Dios en necedad la sabiduría del mundo? (aiōn g165)
21 For seeing that in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom didn’t know God, it was God’s good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save those who believe.
Pues en vista de que según la sabiduría de Dios el mundo por su sabiduría no conoció a Dios, plugo a Dios salvar a los que creyesen mediante la necedad de la predicación.
22 For Jews ask for signs, Greeks seek after wisdom,
Así, pues, los judíos piden señales y los griegos buscan sabiduría;
23 but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Greeks,
en tanto que nosotros predicamos un Cristo crucificado: para los judíos, escándalo; para los gentiles, insensatez;
24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God;
mas para los que son llamados, sean judíos o griegos, un Cristo que es poder de Dios y sabiduría de Dios.
25 because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
Porque la “insensatez” de Dios es más sabia que los hombres, y la debilidad de Dios es más fuerte que los hombres.
26 For you see your calling, brothers, that not many are wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, and not many noble;
Mirad, por ejemplo, hermanos, la vocación vuestra: no hay ( entre vosotros ) muchos sabios según la carne, no muchos poderosos, no muchos nobles,
27 but God chose the foolish things of the world that he might put to shame those who are wise. God chose the weak things of the world that he might put to shame the things that are strong.
sino que Dios ha escogido lo insensato del mundo para confundir a los sabios; y lo débil del mundo ha elegido Dios para confundir a los fuertes;
28 God chose the lowly things of the world, and the things that are despised, and the things that don’t exist, that he might bring to nothing the things that exist,
y lo vil del mundo y lo despreciado ha escogido Dios, y aun lo que no es, para destruir lo que es;
29 that no flesh should boast before God.
a fin de que delante de Dios no se gloríe ninguna carne.
30 Because of him, you are in Christ Jesus, who was made to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption,
Por Él sois ( lo que sois ) en Cristo Jesús. Él fue hecho por Dios sabiduría, justicia, santificación y redención para nosotros,
31 that, as it is written, “He who boasts, let him boast in the Lord.”
a fin de que, según está escrito, “el que se gloria, gloríese en el Señor”.
