James 5
1 Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming on you.
Wohlan nun ihr Reichen, weinet mit Wehklagen über die Trübsale, die euch bevorstehen.
2 Your riches are corrupted and your garments are moth-eaten.
Euer Reichtum ist vermodert, eure Kleider sind Mottenfraß geworden;
3 Your gold and your silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be for a testimony against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up your treasure in the last days.
euer Gold und Silber ist verrostet, und sein Rost wird zum Zeugnis für euch und frißt euer Fleisch. Wie zum Feuer habt ihr Schätze gesammelt in den letzten Tagen.
4 Behold, the wages of the labourers who mowed your fields, which you have kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Armies.
Siehe, der Lohn der Arbeiter, die auf euren Feldern geschnitten, um welchen ihr sie gebracht, schreit auf, und das Rufen der Schnitter ist zu den Ohren des Herrn Sabaoth gedrungen.
5 You have lived in luxury on the earth, and taken your pleasure. You have nourished your hearts as in a day of slaughter.
Ihr habt geschwelgt und gepraßt auf Erden, ihr habt eure Herzen gemästet am Schlachttag.
6 You have condemned and you have murdered the righteous one. He doesn’t resist you.
Ihr habt verurteilt und getötet den Gerechten, er widersetzt sich euch nicht.
7 Be patient therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it receives the early and late rain.
So harret nun in Geduld, Brüder, auf die Ankunft des Herrn. Siehe, der Bauer erwartet die kostbare Frucht der Erde, indem er in Geduld über ihr harrt, bis sie Frühregen und Spätregen bekomme.
8 You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.
Harret auch ihr in Geduld, machet eure Herzen fest, denn die Ankunft des Herrn ist nahe.
9 Don’t grumble, brothers, against one another, so that you won’t be judged. Behold, the judge stands at the door.
Seufzet nicht, Brüder, wider einander, damit ihr nicht gerichtet werdet; siehe, der Richter steht vor der Thüre.
10 Take, brothers, for an example of suffering and of perseverance, the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.
Nehmet euch, Brüder, die Propheten zum Vorbild im Leiden und Dulden, die geredet haben im Namen des Herrn.
11 Behold, we call them blessed who endured. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and have seen the Lord in the outcome, and how the Lord is full of compassion and mercy.
Siehe, wir preisen selig die ausgeharrt; von Hiobs Ausharren habt ihr gehört, und das Ende vom Herrn gesehen; denn mitleidsvoll ist der Herr und barmherzig.
12 But above all things, my brothers, don’t swear—not by heaven, or by the earth, or by any other oath; but let your “yes” be “yes”, and your “no”, “no”, so that you don’t fall into hypocrisy.
Vor allem aber, meine Brüder, schwöret nicht, weder beim Himmel noch bei der Erde, noch irgend einen anderen Schwur.
13 Is any amongst you suffering? Let him pray. Is any cheerful? Let him sing praises.
Euer Ja sei Ja und euer Nein sei Nein, damit ihr nicht dem Gerichte verfallet.
14 Is any amongst you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord;
Leidet einer unter euch, der bete. Ist einer wohlgemut, der singe Psalmen.
15 and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
Ist einer krank unter euch, der rufe die Aeltesten der Gemeinde, die sollen über ihn beten, und ihn salben mit Oel im Namen des Herrn,
16 Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective.
so wird das Gebet des Glaubens dem Kranken helfen, und der Herr wird ihn aufrichten; und wenn er Sünden gethan hat, so wird ihm vergeben werden.
17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it didn’t rain on the earth for three years and six months.
So bekennet denn einander die Sünden, und betet für einander, auf daß ihr geheilt werdet; denn viel vermag eines Gerechten kräftiges Gebet.
18 He prayed again, and the sky gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.
Elias war ein Mensch von gleicher Art wie wir, und flehte daß es nicht regne, und es regnete nicht auf der Erde, drei Jahre und sechs Monate.
19 Brothers, if any amongst you wanders from the truth and someone turns him back,
Und abermals betete er, und der Himmel gab Regen und die Erde sproßte ihre Frucht.
20 let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.
Meine Brüder, wenn einer unter euch sich von der Wahrheit verirrt, und es bekehrt ihn einer: wisset, daß wer einen Sünder bekehrt hat vom Irrtum seines Wegs, der wird seine Seele retten vom Tod, und bedecken eine Menge von Sünden.
