< Psalms 79 >

1 A Psalm of Asaph. O God, the heathen have come into thy inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.
Ko e Saame ʻa ʻAsafi. ‌ʻE ʻOtua, kuo hoko ʻae hiteni ki ho tofiʻa; kuo nau fakaʻuliʻi ho faletapu māʻoniʻoni; kuo nau fakalala ʻa Selūsalema ke tafungofunga ia.
2 The dead bodies of thy servants have they given [to be] food to the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy saints, to the beasts of the earth.
Kuo nau ʻange ʻae sino mate ʻo hoʻo kau tamaioʻeiki ko e meʻakai ki he manupuna ʻoe langi, mo e kakano ʻo hoʻo kakai māʻoniʻoni ki he fanga manu ʻoe fonua.
3 Their blood have they shed like water around Jerusalem; and [there was] none to bury [them].
Kuo nau lilingi honau toto ʻo hangē ko e vai ʻo takatakai ʻi Selūsalema; pea naʻe ʻikai ha niʻihi ke tanu ʻakinautolu.
4 We have become a reproach to our neighbors, a scorn and derision to them that are around us.
Kuo mau hoko ko e manukiʻanga ʻo homau ngaahi kaungāʻapi, ko e meʻa manuki mo e taukaeʻanga ʻokinautolu ʻoku nofo takatakai ʻiate kimautolu.
5 How long, LORD? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire?
‌ʻE Sihova, ʻe fēfē hono fuoloa? Te ke houhau ʻo taʻengata? pea vela ho fuaʻa ʻo hangē ko e afi?
6 Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.
Ke ke lilingi ho houhau ki he hiteni ʻoku teʻeki ai ʻilo koe, pea mo e ngaahi puleʻanga ʻoku teʻeki ai ui ki ho huafa.
7 For they have devoured Jacob, and laid waste his dwelling-place.
He kuo nau kai ʻo ʻosi ʻa Sēkope, ʻo maumauʻi ke lala hono nofoʻanga.
8 O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily succor us: for we are brought very low.
‌ʻoua naʻa ke fakamanatu kiate kimautolu ʻemau ngaahi muʻaki hia: tuku ke tokoni vave ʻakimautolu ʻe hoʻo ʻaloʻofa ongongofua: he kuo ʻohifo ki lalo ʻaupito ʻakimautolu.
9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name's sake.
‌ʻE ʻOtua ko homau fakamoʻui, ke ke tokoni ʻakimautolu, koeʻuhi ko e ongoongolelei ʻo ho huafa: pea fakahaofi ʻakimautolu, ʻo fakamaʻa ke ʻosi ʻemau ngaahi angahala, koeʻuhi ko ho huafa.
10 Why should the heathen say, Where [is] their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight [by] avenging the blood of thy servants [which is] shed.
Koeʻumaʻā ʻae lea pehē mai ʻe he hiteni, “Ko e fē honau ʻOtua?” Tuku ke ʻilo ia ʻi he lotolotonga ʻoe hiteni ʻi homau ʻao ʻi he totongi ʻoe toto ʻo hoʻo kau tamaioʻeiki ʻaia kuo huaʻi.
11 Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die;
Tuku ke aʻu ki ho ʻao ʻae ngaahi mafulu ʻae kau nofo pōpula; ke ke fakamoʻui ʻakinautolu kuo tuʻutuʻuni ke mate ʻo fakatatau mo hono lahi ʻo hoʻo māfimafi.
12 And render to our neighbors seven-fold into their bosom their reproach, with which they have reproached thee, O LORD.
‌ʻE ʻEiki, ke ke ʻange ke liunga fitu ki he fatafata ʻo homau kaungāʻapi ʻenau lauʻikovi, ʻaia naʻa nau lauʻikoviʻi ʻaki koe.
13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will show forth thy praise to all generations.
Pea ko kimautolu ko ho kakai mo e fanga sipi ʻo hoʻo ngoue, temau ʻatu ʻae fakafetaʻi kiate koe ʻo taʻengata: temau fakahā atu ho ongoongolelei ki he toʻutangata kotoa pē.
