Psalms 124

1 A Song of degrees of David. If [it had not been] the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say;

Cantique des montées. De David. Si Yahweh n'eût été pour nous, — qu'Israël le proclame, —

2 If [it had not been] the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us:

si Yahweh n'eût été pour nous, quand les hommes se sont élevés contre nous!...

3 Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:

Ils nous auraient dévorés tout vivants, quand leur colère s'est allumée contre nous;

4 Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:

les eaux nous auraient engloutis, le torrent eût passé sur notre âme;

5 Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.

sur notre âme auraient passé les eaux impétueuses.

6 Blessed [be] the LORD, who hath not given us [as] a prey to their teeth.

Béni soit Yahweh, qui ne nous a pas livrés à leurs dents!

7 Our soul hath escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare [is] broken, and we have escaped.

Notre âme, comme le passereau, s'est échappée du filet de l'oiseleur; le filet s'est rompu, et nous avons été délivrés.

8 Our help [is] in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

Notre secours est dans le nom de Yahweh, qui a fait les cieux et la terre.
