Proverbs 7
1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
Filho meu, guarda as minhas palavras, e esconde dentro de ti os meus mandamentos.
2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thy eye.
Guarda os meus mandamentos, e vive; e a minha lei, como as meninas dos teus olhos.
3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thy heart.
Ata-os aos teus dedos, escreve-os na taboa do teu coração.
4 Say to wisdom, Thou [art] my sister; and call understanding [thy] kinswoman:
Dize á sabedoria, Tu és minha irmã; e á prudencia chama parenta.
5 That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger [which] flattereth with her words.
Para te guardarem da mulher alheia, da estrangeira, que lisongeia com as suas palavras.
6 For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,
Porque da janella da minha casa, por minhas grades olhando eu,
7 And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,
Vi entre os simplices, descobri entre os moços, um mancebo falto de juizo,
8 Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house.
Que passava pela rua junto á sua esquina, e seguia o caminho da sua casa;
9 In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:
No crepusculo, á tarde do dia, na tenebrosa noite e na escuridão;
10 And behold, there met him a woman [with] the attire of a harlot, and subtil of heart.
E eis que uma mulher lhe saiu ao encontro, com enfeites de prostituta, e astuta de coração:
11 (She [is] loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:
Esta era alvoroçadora, e contenciosa; não paravam em sua casa os seus pés;
12 Now [is she] without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)
Agora por fóra, depois pelas ruas, e espreitando por todos os cantos:
13 So she caught him, and kissed him, [and] with an impudent face said to him,
E pegou d'elle, e o beijou; esforçou o seu rosto, e disse-lhe:
14 [I have] peace-offerings with me; this day have I paid my vows.
Sacrificios pacificos tenho comigo; hoje paguei os meus votos.
15 Therefore I came forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.
Por isto sahi ao encontro a buscar diligentemente a tua face, e te achei.
16 I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved [works], with fine linen of Egypt.
Já cobri a minha cama com cobertas de tapeçaria, com obras lavradas com linho fino do Egypto.
17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
Já perfumei o meu leito com myrrha, aloes, e canella.
18 Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.
Vem, saciemo-nos de amores até pela manhã: alegremo-nos com amores.
19 For the good-man [is] not at home, he is gone a long journey:
Porque já o marido não está em sua casa: foi fazer uma jornada ao longe:
20 He hath taken a bag of money with him, [and] will come home at the day appointed.
Um saquitel de dinheiro levou na sua mão: ao dia apontado virá a sua casa.
21 With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she impelled him.
Seduziu-o com a multidão das suas palavras, com as lisonjas dos seus labios o persuadiu.
22 He goeth after her quickly, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;
Segue-a logo, como boi que vae ao matadouro, e como o louco ao castigo das prisões;
23 Till a dart striketh through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it [is] for his life.
Até que a frecha lhe atravesse o figado, como a ave que se apressa para o laço, e não sabe que está armado contra a sua vida.
24 Now therefore hearken to me, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.
Agora pois, filhos, dae-me ouvidos, e estae attentos ás palavras da minha bocca.
25 Let not thy heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.
Não se desvie para os seus caminhos o teu coração, e não andes perdido nas suas veredas.
26 For she hath cast down many wounded: yes, many strong [men] have been slain by her.
Porque a muitos feridos derribou; e são muitissimos os que por ella foram mortos.
