Proverbs 16
1 The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, [are] from the LORD.
Do homem são as preparações do coração, mas do Senhor a resposta da bocca.
2 All the ways of a man [are] clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.
Todos os caminhos do homem são limpos aos seus olhos, mas o Senhor pesa os espiritos.
3 Commit thy works to the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
Confia do Senhor as tuas obras, e teus pensamentos serão estabelecidos.
4 The LORD hath made all [things] for himself: yes, even the wicked for the day of evil.
O Senhor fez todas as coisas para si, para os seus proprios fins, e até ao impio para o dia do mal.
5 Every one [that is] proud in heart [is] an abomination to the LORD: [though] hand [join] in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
Abominação é ao Senhor todo o altivo de coração: ainda que elle junte mão á mão, não será innocente
6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD [men] depart from evil.
Pela misericordia e pela fidelidade se expia a iniquidade, e pelo temor do Senhor os homens se desviam do mal.
7 When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
Sendo os caminhos do homem agradaveis ao Senhor, até a seus inimigos faz que tenham paz com elle.
8 Better [is] a little with righteousness, than great revenues without right.
Melhor é o pouco com justiça, do que a abundancia de colheita com injustiça.
9 A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.
O coração do homem considera o seu caminho, mas o Senhor lhe dirige os passos.
10 A divine sentence [is] in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment.
Adivinhação se acha nos labios do rei: em juizo não prevaricará a sua bocca.
11 A just weight and balance [are] the LORD'S: all the weights of the bag [are] his work.
O peso e a balança justa são do Senhor: obra sua são todos os pesos da bolsa.
12 [It is] an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.
Abominação é para os reis obrarem impiedade, porque com justiça se estabelece o throno.
13 Righteous lips [are] the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.
Os labios de justiça são o contentamento dos reis, e elles amarão ao que falla coisas rectas.
14 The wrath of a king [is as] messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.
O furor do rei é como uns mensageiros da morte, mas o homem sabio o apaziguará.
15 In the light of a king's countenance [is] life; and his favor [is] as a cloud of the latter rain.
Na luz do rosto do rei está a vida, e a sua benevolencia é como a nuvem da chuva serodia.
16 How much better [is it] to get wisdom than gold? and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver?
Quanto melhor é adquirir a sabedoria do que o oiro! e quanto mais excellente adquirir a prudencia do que a prata!
17 The highway of the upright [is] to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.
A carreira dos rectos é desviar-se do mal; o que guarda a sua alma conserva o seu caminho.
18 Pride [goeth] before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
A soberba precede a ruina, e a altivez do espirito precede a quéda.
19 Better [it is to be] of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
Melhor é ser humilde d'espirito com os mansos, do que repartir o despojo com os soberbos.
20 He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoever trusteth in the LORD, happy [is] he.
O que attenta prudentemente para a palavra achará o bem, e o que confia no Senhor será bemaventurado.
21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.
O sabio de coração será chamado prudente, e a doçura dos labios augmentará o ensino.
22 Understanding [is] a well-spring of life to him that hath it: but the instruction of fools [is] folly.
O entendimento, para aquelles que o possuem, é uma fonte de vida, mas a instrucção dos tolos é a sua estulticia.
23 The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.
O coração do sabio instrue a sua bocca, e sobre os seus labios augmentará a doutrina.
24 Pleasant words [are as] a honey-comb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
Favo de mel são as palavras suaves, doces para a alma, e saude para os ossos.
25 There is a way that seemeth right to a man, but the end of it [is] the ways of death.
Ha caminho, que parece direito ao homem, mas o seu fim são os caminhos da morte.
26 He that laboreth laboreth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him.
O trabalhador trabalha para si mesmo, porque a sua bocca o insta.
27 An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips [there is] as a burning fire.
O homem de Belial cava o mal, e nos seus labios se acha como um fogo ardente.
28 A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.
O homem perverso levanta a contenda, e o murmurador separa os maiores amigos.
29 A violent man enticeth his neighbor, and leadeth him into the way [that is] not good.
O homem violento persuade ao seu companheiro, e o guia por caminho não bom.
30 He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass.
Fecha os olhos para imaginar perversidades; mordendo os labios, effectua o mal.
31 The hoary head [is] a crown of glory, [if] it is found in the way of righteousness.
Corôa de honra são as cãs, achando-se ellas no caminho de justiça.
32 [He that is] slow to anger [is] better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit, than he that taketh a city.
Melhor é o longanimo do que o valente, e o que governa o seu espirito do que o que toma uma cidade.
33 The lot is cast into the lap: but the whole disposing of it [is] from the LORD.
A sorte se lança no regaço, mas do Senhor procede toda a sua disposição.
