Numbers 4
1 And the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,
L’Éternel parla à Moïse et à Aaron en ces termes:
2 Take the sum of the sons of Kohath from among the sons of Levi, after their families, by the house of their fathers;
"Qu’on fasse le relevé des enfants de Kehath entre les autres descendants de Lévi, selon leurs familles, par maisons paternelles,
3 From thirty years old and upward, even until fifty years old, all that enter into the host, to do the work in the tabernacle of the congregation.
depuis l’âge de trente ans et plus, jusqu’à l’âge de cinquante ans: quiconque est admissible au service, à l’exécution d’une tâche dans la tente d’assignation.
4 This [shall be] the service of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation, [about] the most holy things.
Voici la tâche des enfants de Kehath, dans la tente d’assignation: elle concerne les choses très saintes.
5 And when the camp moveth forward, Aaron shall come, and his sons, and they shall take down the covering vail, and cover the ark of testimony with it:
Aaron entrera avec ses fils, lorsque le camp devra partir; ils détacheront le voile protecteur, et en couvriront l’arche du statut;
6 And shall put on it the covering of badgers' skins, and shall spread over [it] a cloth wholly of blue, and shall put in the staffs of it.
ils mettront encore dessus une housse de peau de tahach, étendront par-dessus une étoffe entièrement d’azur, puis ajusteront ses barres.
7 And upon the table of show-bread they shall spread a cloth of blue, and put on it the dishes, and the spoons, and the bowls, and covers to cover with: and the continual bread shall be upon it.
Sur la table de proposition ils étendront une étoffe d’azur, sur laquelle ils placeront les sébiles, les cuillers, les demi-tubes et les montants qui garnissent la table; quant au pain perpétuel, il restera dessus.
8 And they shall spread upon them a cloth of scarlet, and cover the same with a covering of badgers' skins, and shall put in the staffs of it.
Ils étendront sur ces objets une étoffe d’écarlate, qu’ils couvriront d’une housse de peau de tahach; puis ils ajusteront ses barres.
9 And they shall take a cloth of blue, and cover the candlestick of the light, and its lamps, and its tongs, and its snuff-dishes, and all its oil vessels, with which they minister to it:
ils prendront une étoffe d’azur, y envelopperont le candélabre servant à l’éclairage, avec ses lampes, ses mouchettes, ses godets et tous les vaisseaux à huile employés pour son service.
10 And they shall put it, and all its vessels, within a covering of badgers' skins, and shall put [it] upon a bar.
Et ils le mettront, avec tous ses ustensiles, dans une enveloppe de peau de tahach, et le poseront sur une civière.
11 And upon the golden altar they shall spread a cloth of blue, and cover it with a covering of badgers' skins, and shall put to it its staffs.
Sur l’autel d’or ils étendront une étoffe d’azur, la couvriront d’une housse de peau de tahach, et ajusteront les barres;
12 And they shall take all the instruments of ministry, with which they minister in the sanctuary, and put [them] in a cloth of blue, and cover them with a covering of badgers' skins, and shall put [them] on a bar.
ils prendront tous les ustensiles employés pour le service du sanctuaire, les mettront dans une étoffe d’azur, les couvriront d’une housse de peau de tahach, et les poseront sur une civière.
13 And they shall take away the ashes from the altar, and spread a purple cloth upon it:
Ils enlèveront les cendres de l’autel, sur lequel ils étendront une étoffe de pourpre.
14 And they shall put upon it all its vessels, with which they minister about it, [even] the censers, the flesh-hooks, and the shovels, and the basins, all the vessels of the altar; and they shall spread upon it a covering of badgers' skins, and put to it its staffs.
Ils mettront là-dessus tous les ustensiles destinés à son service: brasiers, fourches, pelles, bassins, tous les ustensiles de cet autel; ils déploieront par-dessus une housse de peau de tahach, et ajusteront les barres.
15 And when Aaron and his sons have made an end of covering the sanctuary, and all the vessels of the sanctuary, as the camp is to move forward; after that, the sons of Kohath shall come to bear [it]: but they shall not touch [any] holy thing, lest they die. These [things are] the burden of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation.
Aaron et ses fils achèveront ainsi d’envelopper les choses saintes et tous les ustensiles sacrés, lors du départ du camp; alors seulement viendront les enfants de Kehath pour les porter, car ils ne doivent pas toucher aux choses saintes, sous peine de mort. C’Est là la charge des enfants de Kehath dans la tente d’assignation.
16 And to the office of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest [pertain] the oil for the light, and the sweet incense, and the daily meat-offering, and the anointing oil, [and] the oversight of all the tabernacle, and of all that [is] in it, in the sanctuary, and in its vessels.
Les fonctions d’Eléazar, fils d’Aaron le pontife, comprendront l’huile du luminaire, l’encens aromatique, l’oblation perpétuelle et l’huile d’onction, la surveillance du tabernacle entier et de tout ce qu’il renferme, du sanctuaire et de son appareil."
17 And the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,
L’Éternel parla ainsi à Moïse et à Aaron:
18 Cut ye not off the tribe of the families of the Kohathites from among the Levites:
"N’Exposez point la branche des familles issues de Kehath à disparaître du milieu des Lévites;
19 But thus do to them, that they may live, and not die, when they approach to the most holy things: Aaron and his sons shall go in, and appoint them every one to his service and to his burden:
mais agissez ainsi à leur égard, afin qu’ils vivent au lieu de mourir, lorsqu’ils approcheront des saintetés éminentes: Aaron et ses fils viendront, et les commettront chacun à sa tâche et à ce qu’il doit porter,
20 But they shall not go in to see when the holy things are covered, lest they die.
de peur qu’ils n’entrent pour regarder, fût-ce un instant, les choses saintes, et qu’ils ne meurent."
21 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
L’Éternel parla à Moïse en ces termes:
22 Take also the sum of the sons of Gershon, throughout the house of their fathers, by their families;
"Il faut faire aussi le relevé des enfants de Gerson, par maisons paternelles, selon leurs familles.
23 From thirty years old and upward until fifty years old shalt thou number them; all that enter in to perform the service, to do the work in the tabernacle of the congregation.
C’Est depuis l’âge de trente ans et plus, jusqu’à l’âge de cinquante ans, que tu les recenseras: quiconque est apte à participer au service, à faire une besogne dans la tente d’assignation.
24 This [is] the service of the families of the Gershonites, to serve, and for burdens:
Voici ce qui est imposé aux familles nées de Gerson, comme tâche et comme transport:
25 And they shall bear the curtains of the tabernacle, and the tabernacle of the congregation, its covering, and the covering of the badgers' skins that [is] above upon it, and the hanging for the door of the tabernacle of the congregation,
elles porteront les tapis du tabernacle, le pavillon d’assignation, sa couverture et la housse de tahach qui la couvre extérieurement, ainsi que le rideau-portière de la tente d’assignation;
26 And the hangings of the court, and the hanging for the door of the gate of the court, which [is] by the tabernacle and by the altar round about, and their cords, and all the instruments of their service, and all that is made for them: so shall they serve.
les toiles du parvis, le rideau d’entrée servant de porte à ce parvis, qui s’étend autour du tabernacle et de l’autel, et leurs cordages, et toutes les pièces de leur appareil; enfin, tout ce qui s’y rattache, elles s’en occuperont.
27 At the appointment of Aaron and his sons shall be all the service of the sons of the Gershonites, in all their burdens, and in all their service: and ye shall appoint to them in charge all their burdens.
C’Est sur l’ordre d’Aaron et de ses fils qu’aura lieu tout le service des descendants de Gerson, pour tout ce qu’ils ont à porter comme à exécuter; et vous commettrez à leur garde tout ce qu’ils devront transporter.
28 This [is] the service of the families of the sons of Gershon in the tabernacle of the congregation: and their charge [shall be] under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.
Telle est la tâche des familles descendant de Gerson, dans la tente d’assignation; et leur surveillance appartient à Ithamar, fils d’Aaron le pontife.
29 As for the sons of Merari, thou shalt number them after their families, by the house of their fathers;
Les enfants de Merari, selon leurs familles, par maisons paternelles, tu les recenseras.
30 From thirty years old and upward even to fifty years old shalt thou number them, every one that entereth into the service, to do the work of the tabernacle of the congregation.
De l’âge de trente ans et au-dessus, jusqu’à l’âge de cinquante ans, tu les recenseras: tous ceux qui sont admissibles au service, pouvant faire la besogne de la tente d’assignation.
31 And this [is] the charge of their burden, according to all their service in the tabernacle of the congregation; the boards of the tabernacle, and its bars, and its pillars, and its sockets,
Voici ce qu’ils sont tenus de porter, selon le détail de leur emploi dans la tente d’assignation: les solives du tabernacle, ses traverses, ses piliers et ses socles;
32 And the pillars of the court round about, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords, with all their instruments, and with all their service: and by name ye shall reckon the instruments of the charge of their burden.
les piliers du pourtour du parvis, leurs socles, leurs chevilles et leurs cordages, avec toutes leurs pièces et tout ce qui s’y rattache. Vous leur attribuerez nominativement les objets dont le transport leur est confié.
33 This [is] the service of the families of the sons of Merari, according to all their service, in the tabernacle of the congregation, under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.
Telle est la tâche des familles descendant de Merari, le détail de leur service dans la tente d’assignation, sous la direction d’Ithamar, fils d’Aaron le pontife."
34 And Moses and Aaron and the chief of the congregation numbered the sons of the Kohathites after their families, and after the house of their fathers,
Moïse et Aaron, et les phylarques de la communauté, firent le recensement des Kehathites, par familles et maisons paternelles,
35 From thirty years old and upward even to fifty years old, every one that entereth into the service, for the work in the tabernacle of the congregation:
depuis l’âge de trente ans et au-delà, jusqu’à l’âge de cinquante ans, de quiconque était admissible au service, à un emploi dans la tente d’assignation.
36 And those that were numbered of them by their families were two thousand seven hundred and fifty.
Recensés ainsi par familles, ils étaient deux mille sept cent cinquante.
37 These [were] they that were numbered of the families of the Kohathites, all that might do service in the tabernacle of the congregation, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the commandment of the LORD by the hand of Moses.
Tel fut le contingent des familles nées de Kehath, employées dans la tente d’assignation, ainsi que Moïse et Aaron les recensèrent d’après l’ordre de l’Éternel, transmis par Moïse.
38 And those that were numbered of the sons of Gershon, throughout their families, and by the house of their fathers,
Pour le contingent des enfants de Gerson, dénombrés selon leurs familles et leurs maisons paternelles,
39 From thirty years old and upward even to fifty years old, every one that entereth into the service, for the work in the tabernacle of the congregation,
depuis l’âge de trente ans et au-delà, jusqu’à l’âge de cinquante ans, tous ceux qui étaient admissibles au service, à un emploi dans la tente d’assignation,
40 Even those that were numbered of them, throughout their families, by the house of their fathers, were two thousand and six hundred and thirty.
comptés par familles, selon leurs maisons paternelles, leur nombre fut de deux mille six cent trente.
41 These [are] they that were numbered of the families of the sons of Gershon, of all that might do service in the tabernacle of the congregation, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the commandment of the LORD.
Tel fut le contingent des familles nées de Gerson, employées dans la tente d’assignation, ainsi que Moïse et Aaron les recensèrent sur l’ordre de l’Éternel.
42 And those that were numbered of the families of the sons of Merari, throughout their families, by the house of their fathers,
Et le contingent des familles des enfants de Merari, classés par familles, selon leurs maisons paternelles,
43 From thirty years old and upward even to fifty years old, every one that entereth into the service for the work in the tabernacle of the congregation,
depuis l’âge de trente ans et au-delà, jusqu’à l’âge de cinquante ans, tous ceux qui étaient admissibles au service, à une tâche dans la tente d’assignation,
44 Even those that were numbered of them after their families, were three thousand and two hundred.
leur contingent, par familles, fut de trois mille deux cents.
45 These [are] those that were numbered of the families of the sons of Merari, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses.
Tel fut le contingent des familles des enfants de Merari, que Moïse et Aaron dénombrèrent sur l’ordre de l’Éternel, transmis par Moïse.
46 All those that were numbered of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron and the chief of Israel numbered, after their families, and after the house of their fathers,
Total du dénombrement opéré par Moïse, Aaron et les phylarques d’Israël à l’égard des Lévites, selon leurs familles et leurs maisons paternelles,
47 From thirty years old and upward even to fifty years old, every one that came to do the service of the ministry, and the service of the burden in the tabernacle of the congregation,
de l’âge de trente ans et au-delà, jusqu’à l’âge de cinquante ans, tous ceux qui étaient admissibles à l’exécution d’un service ou à celle d’un transport dans la tente d’assignation:
48 Even those that were numbered of them, were eight thousand and five hundred and eighty.
leur nombre fut de huit mille cinq cent quatre-vingts.
49 According to the commandment of the LORD they were numbered by the hand of Moses, every one according to his service, and according to his burden: thus were they numbered by him, as the LORD commanded Moses.
D’Après l’ordre de l’Éternel, on leur assigna, sous la direction de Moïse, à chacun son service et les objets à transporter ainsi que ses préposés, désignés par l’Éternel à Moïse.
