Lamentations 3
1 I [am] the man [that] hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.
Je suis l'homme qui a vu l'affliction sous la verge de sa fureur.
2 He hath led me, and brought [me into] darkness, but not [into] light.
Il m'a conduit et m'a fait marcher dans les ténèbres et non dans la lumière;
3 Surely against me is he turned; he turneth his hand [against me] all the day.
contre moi seul il tourne et retourne sa main tout le jour. BETH.
4 My flesh and my skin hath he made old; he hath broken my bones.
Il a usé ma chair et ma peau, il a brisé mes os;
5 He hath built against me, and compassed [me] with gall and labor.
Il a bâti contre moi, il m'a environné d'amertume et d'ennui.
6 He hath set me in dark places, as [they that are] dead of old.
Il m'a fait habiter dans les ténèbres, comme ceux qui sont morts depuis longtemps. GHIMEL.
7 He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.
Il m’a entouré d’un mur pour que je ne puisse sortir, il a rendu lourdes mes chaînes.
8 Also when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer.
Lors même que je crie et que j'implore, il ferme tout accès à ma prière.
9 He hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked.
Il a muré mes chemins avec des pierres de taille, il a bouleversé mes sentiers. DALETH.
10 He [was] to me [as] a bear lying in wait, [and as] a lion in secret places.
Il a été pour moi comme un ours aux aguets, comme un lion dans les embuscades;
11 He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces: he hath made me desolate.
il a détourné mes voies et m'a mis en pièces, il m'a réduit à l'abandon;
12 He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
il a bandé son arc et m'a placé comme but à ses flèches. HÉ.
13 He hath caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.
Il a fait pénétrer dans mes reins les fils de son carquois;
14 I was a derision to all my people; [and] their song all the day.
je suis la risée de tout mon peuple, leur chanson tout le jour;
15 He hath filled me with bitterness, he hath made me drunken with wormwood.
il m'a rassasié d'amertume, il m'a abreuvé d'absinthe. VAV.
16 He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones, he hath covered me with ashes.
Et il a fait broyer du gravier à mes dents, il m'a enfoncé dans la cendre;
17 And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I forgat prosperity.
et mon âme est violemment écartée de la sécurité; j'ai oublié le bonheur;
18 And I said, My strength and my hope hath perished from the LORD:
et j'ai dit: " Ma force est perdue, ainsi que mon espérance en Yahweh! " ZAÏN.
19 Remembering my affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.
Souviens-toi de mon affliction et de ma souffrance, de l'absinthe et de l'amertume!
20 My soul hath [them] still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.
Mon âme s'en souvient sans cesse, et elle est abattue en moi.
21 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.
Voici ce que je me rappelerai en mon cœur, et ce pourquoi j'espérerai: HETH.
22 [It is of] the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
C'est une grâce de Yahweh que nous ne soyons pas anéantis, car ses miséricordes ne sont pas épuisées!
23 [They are] new every morning: great [is] thy faithfulness.
Elles se renouvellent chaque matin; grande est ta fidélité!
24 The LORD [is] my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
" Yahweh est mon partage, a dit mon âme; c'est pourquoi j'espérerai en lui. " TETH.
25 The LORD [is] good to them that wait for him, to the soul [that] seeketh him.
Yahweh est bon pour qui espère en lui, pour l'âme qui le cherche.
26 [It is] good that [a man] should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.
Il est bon d'attendre en silence la délivrance de Yahweh.
27 [It is] good for a man that he should bear the yoke in his youth.
Il est bon à l'homme de porter le joug dès sa jeunesse. JOD.
28 He sitteth alone, and keepeth silence, because he hath borne [it] upon him.
Qu'il s'asseye à l'écart, en silence, si Dieu le lui impose!
29 He putteth his mouth in the dust; if there may be hope.
Qu'il mette sa bouche dans la poussière: peut-être y a-t-il de l'espérance!
30 He giveth [his] cheek to him that smiteth him: he is filled full with reproach.
Qu'il tende la joue à celui qui le frappe; qu'il se rassasie d'opprobre! CAPH.
31 For the LORD will not cast off for ever:
Car le Seigneur ne rejette pas à toujours;
32 But though he causeth grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.
mais, s'il afflige, il a compassion, selon sa grande miséricorde;
33 For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.
car ce n'est pas de bon cœur qu'il humilie, et qu'il afflige les enfants des hommes. LAMED.
34 To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,
Quand on foule aux pieds tous les captifs du pays,
35 To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High,
quand on fait fléchir le droit d'un homme, à la face du Très-Haut,
36 To subvert a man in his cause, the LORD approveth not.
quand on fait tort à quelqu'un dans sa cause, le Seigneur ne le verrait donc pas! MEM.
37 Who [is] he [that] saith, and it cometh to pass, [when] the LORD commandeth [it] not?
Qui a parlé, et la chose s'est faite, sans que le Seigneur l'ait commandé?
38 Out of the mouth of the most High proceedeth not evil and good?
N'est-ce pas de la bouche du Très-Haut que procèdent les maux et les biens?
39 Why doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?
Pourquoi l'homme se plaindrait-il tant qu'il vit? Que chacun se plaigne de ses péchés! NUN.
40 Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD.
Examinons nos voies et scrutons-les, et retournons à Yahweh.
41 Let us lift up our heart with [our] hands to God in the heavens.
Elevons nos cœurs, avec nos mains, vers Dieu dans les cieux:
42 We have transgressed and have rebelled: thou hast not pardoned.
" Nous, nous avons péché, nous avons été rebelles; toi, tu n'as pas pardonné. " SAMECH.
43 Thou hast covered with anger, and persecuted us: thou hast slain, thou hast not pitied.
" Tu t'es enveloppé dans ta colère, et tu nous as poursuivis; tu as tué sans épargner;
44 Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that [our] prayer should not pass through.
Tu t'es couvert d'une nuée, afin que la prière ne passe point;
45 Thou hast made us [as] the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the people.
tu as fait de nous des balayures et un rebut, au milieu des peuples. " PHÉ.
46 All our enemies have opened their mouths against us.
Ils ouvrent la bouche contre nous, tous nos ennemis.
47 Fear and a snare is come upon us, desolation and destruction.
La frayeur et la fosse ont été notre part, ainsi que la dévastation et la ruine.
48 My eye runneth down with rivers of water for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
Mon œil se fond en un ruisseau de larmes, à cause de la ruine de la fille de mon peuple. AÏN.
49 My eye trickleth down, and ceaseth not, without any intermission,
Mon œil pleure et ne cesse point, parce qu'il n'y a pas de répit,
50 Till the LORD shall look down, and behold from heaven.
jusqu'à ce qu'il regarde et voie, Yahweh, du haut des cieux.
51 My eye affecteth my heart because of all the daughters of my city.
Mon œil fait mal à mon âme, à cause de toutes les filles de ma ville. TSADÉ.
52 My enemies chased me fiercely, like a bird without cause.
Ils m’ont donné la chasse comme a un passereau, ceux qui me haïssent sans cause.
53 They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and cast a stone upon me.
Ils ont voulu anéantir ma vie dans la fosse, et ils ont jeté une pierre sur moi.
54 Waters flowed over my head; [then] I said, I am cut off.
Les eaux montaient au-dessus de ma tête; je disais: " Je suis perdu! " QOPH.
55 I called upon thy name, O LORD, out of the low dungeon.
J'ai invoqué ton nom, Yahweh, de la fosse profonde;
56 Thou hast heard my voice: hide not thy ear at my breathing, at my cry.
tu as entendu ma voix: " Ne ferme point ton oreille à mes soupirs, à mes cris! "
57 Thou drewest near in the day [that] I called upon thee: thou saidst, Fear not.
Tu t'es approché, au jour où je t'ai invoqué, et tu as dit: " Ne crains point! " RESCH.
58 O LORD, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life.
Seigneur tu as pris en main ma cause, tu m'as sauvé la vie.
59 O LORD, thou hast seen my wrong: judge thou my cause.
Tu as vu, Yahweh, la violence qu'ils me font; fais-moi justice!
60 Thou hast seen all their vengeance [and] all their imaginations against me.
Tu as vu toute leur rancune, tous leurs complots contre moi. SIN.
61 Thou hast heard their reproach, O LORD, [and] all their imaginations against me;
Tu as entendu leurs outrages, Yahweh, tous leurs complots contre moi,
62 The lips of those that rose up against me, and their device against me all the day.
les propos de mes adversaires et ce qu'ils méditent, contre moi tout le jour.
63 Behold their sitting down, and their rising up; I [am] their music.
Quand ils s'asseyent ou qu'ils se lèvent, regarde: je suis l'objet de leurs chansons. THAV.
64 Render to them a recompense, O LORD, according to the work of their hands.
Tu leur rendras, Yahweh, ce qu'ils méritent, selon l'œuvre de leurs mains;
65 Give them sorrow of heart, thy curse to them.
Tu leur donneras l'aveuglement du cœur; ta malédiction sera pour eux.
66 Persecute and destroy them in anger from under the heavens of the LORD.
Tu les poursuivras avec colère et tu les extermineras, de dessous les cieux de Yahweh!
