Job 20
1 Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,
Então respondeu Sofar, o naamathita, e disse:
2 Therefore do my thoughts cause me to answer, and for [this] I make haste.
Por isso é que os meus pensamentos me fazem responder, e portanto me apresso.
3 I have heard the check of my reproach, and the spirit of my understanding causeth me to answer.
Eu ouvi a reprehensão, que me envergonha, mas o espirito do meu entendimento responderá por mim.
4 Knowest thou [not] this of old, since man was placed upon earth,
Porventura não sabes isto, que foi desde todo o tempo, desde que o homem foi posto sobre a terra?
5 That the triumphing of the wicked [is] short, and the joy of the hypocrite [but] for a moment?
A saber: que o jubilo dos impios é breve, e a alegria dos hypocritas como d'um momento?
6 Though his excellence shall mount up to the heavens, and his head reach to the clouds;
Ainda que a sua altura subisse até ao céu, e a sua cabeça chegasse até ás nuvens,
7 [Yet] he shall perish for ever like his own dung: they who have seen him shall say, Where [is] he?
Comtudo como o seu proprio esterco perecerá para sempre: e os que o viam dirão: Onde está?
8 He shall fly away as a dream, and will not be found: yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.
Como um sonho vôa, e não será achado, e será afugentado como uma visão da noite.
9 The eye also [which] saw him shall [see him] no more; neither shall his place any more behold him.
O olho que já o viu jamais o verá, nem olhará mais para elle o seu logar.
10 His children shall seek to please the poor, and his hands shall restore their goods.
Os seus filhos procurarão agradar aos pobres, e as suas mãos restaurarão a sua fazenda.
11 His bones are full [of the sin] of his youth, which shall lie down with him in the dust.
Os seus ossos se encherão dos seus peccados occultos, e juntamente se deitarão com elle no pó.
12 Though wickedness may be sweet in his mouth, [though] he may hide it under his tongue;
Ainda que o mal lhe seja doce na bocca, e elle o esconda debaixo da sua lingua,
13 [Though] he may spare it, and forsake it not; but keep it still within his mouth:
E o guarde, e o não deixe, antes o retenha no seu paladar,
14 [Yet] his food in his bowels is turned, [it is] the gall of asps within him.
Comtudo a sua comida se mudará nas suas entranhas; fel d'aspides será interiormente.
15 He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly.
Enguliu fazendas, porém vomitalas-ha; do seu ventre Deus as lançará.
16 He shall suck the poison of asps: the viper's tongue shall slay him.
Veneno d'aspides sorverá; lingua de vibora o matará.
17 He shall not see the river, the floods, the brooks of honey and buttermilk.
Não verá as correntes, os rios e os ribeiros de mel e manteiga.
18 That which he labored for shall he restore, and shall not swallow [it]: according to [his] substance [shall] the restitution [be], and he shall not rejoice [in it].
Restituirá do seu trabalho, e não o engulirá: conforme ao poder de sua mudança, e não saltará de gozo.
19 Because he hath oppressed [and] hath forsaken the poor; [because] he hath violently taken away a house which he did not build.
Porquanto opprimiu, desamparou os pobres, e roubou a casa que não edificou.
20 Surely he shall not feel quietness in his belly, he shall not save of that which he desired.
Porquanto não sentiu socego no seu ventre; da sua tão desejada fazenda coisa nenhuma reterá.
21 There shall none of his food be left; therefore shall no man look for his goods.
Nada lhe sobejará do que coma; pelo que a sua fazenda não será duravel.
22 In the fullness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: every hand of the wicked shall come upon him.
Estando já cheia a sua abastança, estará angustiado: toda a mão dos miseraveis virá sobre elle
23 [When] he is about to fill his belly, [God] shall cast the fury of his wrath upon him, and shall rain [it] upon him while he is eating.
Haja porém ainda de que possa encher o seu ventre; comtudo Deus mandará sobre elle o ardor da sua ira, e a fará chover sobre elle quando elle fôr a comer.
24 He shall flee from the iron weapon, [and] the bow of steel shall strike him through.
Ainda que fuja das armas de ferro, o arco d'aço o atravessará.
25 It is drawn, and cometh out of the body; yes, the glittering sword cometh out of his gall: terrors [are] upon him.
Desembainhada a espada, sairá do seu corpo, e resplandecendo virá do seu fel: e haverá sobre elle assombros.
26 All darkness [shall be] hid in his secret places: a fire not blown shall consume him; it shall go ill with him that is left in his tabernacle.
Toda a escuridão se occultará nos seus esconderijos: um fogo não assoprado o consumirá: e com o que ficar na sua tenda irá mal.
27 The heaven shall reveal his iniquity; and the earth shall rise up against him.
Os céus manifestarão a sua iniquidade: e a terra se levantará contra elle.
28 The increase of his house shall depart, [and his goods] shall flow away in the day of his wrath.
As rendas de sua casa serão transportadas: no dia da sua ira todas se derramarão.
29 This [is] the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed to him by God.
Esta, da parte de Deus, é a porção do homem impio: e, da parte de Deus, a herança dos seus ditos.
