Isaiah 50
1 Thus saith the LORD, Where [is] the bill of your mother's divorcement, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors [is it] to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.
Assim diz o Senhor: Que libello de divorcio é este de vossa mãe, pelo qual eu a repudiei? ou quem é o meu crédor, a quem eu vos tenha vendido? eis que por vossas maldades fostes vendidos, e por vossas prevaricações vossa mãe foi repudiada.
2 Why, when I came, [was there] no man? when I called, [was there] none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish becometh putrid, because [there is] no water, and dieth for thirst.
Por que razão vim eu, e ninguem appareceu? chamei, e ninguem respondeu? porventura tanto se encolheu a minha mão, que já não possa remir? ou não ha mais força em mim para livrar? eis que com a minha reprehensão faço seccar o mar, torno os rios em deserto, até que cheirem mal os seus peixes, porquanto não teem agua e morrem de sêde.
3 I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.
Eu visto os céus de negridão, e pôr-lhes-hei um sacco para a sua cobertura.
4 The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to [him that is] weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth my ear to hear as the learned.
O Senhor Jehovah me deu uma lingua erudita, para que saiba fallar a seu tempo uma boa palavra com o cançado: desperta-me todas as manhãs, desperta-me o ouvido para que ouça, como aquelles que aprendem.
5 The LORD GOD opened my ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.
O Senhor Jehovah me abriu os ouvidos, e eu não sou rebelde: não me retiro para traz.
6 I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.
As minhas costas dou aos que me ferem, e as minhas faces aos que me arrancam os cabellos: não escondo a minha face de opprobrios e de escarros.
7 For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.
Porque o Senhor Jehovah me ajuda, pelo que me não confundo: por isso puz o meu rosto como um seixo, porque sei que não serei confundido.
8 [He is] near that justifieth me; who will contend with me? let us stand together; who [is] my adversary? let him come near to me.
Perto está o que me justifica; quem contenderá comigo? compareçamos juntamente: quem tem alguma causa contra mim? chegue-se para mim.
9 Behold the Lord GOD will help me; who [is] he [that] shall condemn me? lo, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up.
Eis que o Senhor Jehovah me ajuda; quem ha que me condemne? eis que todos elles como vestidos se envelhecerão, e a traça os comerá.
10 Who [is] among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh [in] darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the LORD, and rely upon his God.
Quem ha entre vós que tema a Jehovah, e ouça a voz do seu servo? quando andar em trevas, e não tiver luz nenhuma, confie no nome do Senhor, e firme-se sobre o seu Deus.
11 Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that encompass [yourselves] with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks [that] ye have kindled. This shall ye have of my hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.
Eis que todos vós, que accendeis fogo, e vos cingis com faiscas, andae entre as labaredas do vosso fogo, e entre as faiscas que accendestes: isto vos vem da minha mão, e em tormentos jazereis.
