Isaiah 3
1 For behold, the LORD, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the rod and the staff, the whole support of bread, and the whole support of water,
Car voici que le Seigneur, Yahweh des armées, va retirer de Jérusalem et de Juda toute ressource et tout appui, toute ressource de pain et toute ressource d'eau,
2 The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient,
héros et homme de guerre, juge, prophète et devin, ancien,
3 The captain of fifty, and the honorable man, and the counselor, and the skillful artificer, and the eloquent orator.
capitaine et notable, conseiller, ouvrier expert en son art et habile enchanteur.
4 And I will give children [to be] their princes, and babes shall rule over them.
Et je leur donnerai des jeunes gens pour princes, et des enfants domineront sur eux.
5 And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbor: the child shall behave himself proudly against the elder, and the base against the honorable.
Et le peuple se ruera homme contre homme, chacun contre son voisin; ils se précipiteront, le jeune homme contre le vieillard, et l'homme de rien contre le plus illustre.
6 When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, [saying], Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and [let] this ruin [be] under thy hand:
Lorsqu'un homme prendra son frère dans la maison de son père, en disant: " Tu as un manteau, sois notre chef, et que cette ruine soit sous ta garde! "
7 In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be a healer; for in my house [is] neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people.
Il se récriera en ce jour-là: " Je ne veux pas être le médecin: je n'ai dans ma maison ni pain ni manteau; ne me faites pas chef du peuple. "
8 For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings [are] against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.
Car Jérusalem chancelle et Juda s'écroule, parce que leurs paroles et leurs œuvres sont contre Yahweh, pour braver le regard de sa majesté.
9 The show of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide [it] not. Woe to their soul! for they have rewarded evil to themselves.
L'air de leur visage dépose contre eux; comme Sodome, ils publient leur péché et ne s'en cachent point. Malheur à eux! car ils sont eux-mêmes les auteurs de leur perte.
10 Say ye to the righteous, that [it shall be] well [with him]: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
Dites au juste qu'il est heureux, car il mangera le fruit de ses œuvres.
11 Woe to the wicked! [it shall be] ill [with him]: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.
Malheur au méchant! mal lui arrivera, car ce que ses mains ont fait lui sera rendu.
12 [As for] my people, children [are] their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they who lead thee cause [thee] to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.
Mon peuple est opprimé par des enfants, et des femmes le gouvernent. Mon peuple, ceux qui te dirigent t'égarent, et ils ruinent le chemin où tu dois passer.
13 The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people.
Yahweh s'est levé pour rendre la justice, et il est debout pour juger les peuples.
14 The LORD will enter into judgment with the elders of his people, and with their princes: for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor [is] in your houses.
Yahweh entre en jugement avec les anciens et les princes de son peuple: " Vous avez brouté la vigne; la dépouille du pauvre est dans vos maisons.
15 What mean ye [that] ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the LORD God of hosts.
De quel droit foulez-vous mon peuple, et écrasez-vous la face des malheureux? " — oracle du Seigneur Yahweh des armées.
16 Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with extended necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing [as] they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:
Yahweh a dit: Parce que les filles de Sion sont devenues orgueilleuses, qu'elles s'avancent la tête haute, lançant des regards, qu'elles vont à petits pas, et font sonner les anneaux de leurs pieds,
17 Therefore the LORD will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will uncover their secret parts.
le Seigneur rendra chauve le crâne des filles de Sion, et Yahweh découvrira leur nudité.
18 In that day the LORD will take away the show of [their] tinkling ornaments [about their feet], and [their] cauls, and [their] round tires like the moon.
En ce jour-là, le Seigneur enlèvera le luxe des anneaux, les soleils et les croissants;
19 The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,
les pendants d'oreille, les bracelets et les voiles;
20 The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the head-bands, and the tablets, and the ear-rings,
les diadèmes, les chaînettes des pieds et les ceintures;
21 The rings, and nose-jewels,
les boîtes à parfum et les amulettes, les bagues et les anneaux du nez;
22 The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping-pins,
les robes de fête et les larges tuniques, les manteaux et les bourses;
23 The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.
les miroirs et les mousselines, les turbans et les mantilles.
24 And it shall come to pass, [that] instead of sweet smell there shall be an offensive odor; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; [and] burning instead of beauty.
Et, au lieu de parfum, il y aura la pourriture; au lieu de ceinture, une corde; au lieu de cheveux bouclés, une tête chauve; au lieu d'une ample robe, un sac; au lieu de beauté, la marque imprimée par le feu.
25 Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war.
Tes guerriers tomberont par l'épée, et tes héros dans la bataille.
26 And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she [being] desolate, shall sit upon the ground.
Les portes de Sion gémiront et seront dans le deuil, et, désolée, elle sera assise dans la poussière.
