Habakkuk 3
1 A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shigionoth.
Prière d'Habacuc le prophète. Sur le mode dithyrambique.
2 O LORD, I have heard thy speech, [and] was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.
Yahweh, j'ai entendu ce que tu as fait entendre, je suis saisi de crainte, Yahweh! Ton œuvre, dans le cours des âges, fais-la vivre; dans le cours des âges fais-la connaître! Dans ta colère, souviens-toi d'avoir pitié.
3 God came from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran. (Selah) His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise.
Dieu vient de Théman, et le Saint de la montagne de Pharan (Séla). Sa majesté a couvert les cieux, et la terre a été remplie de sa gloire.
4 And [his] brightness was as the light; he had horns [coming] out of his hand; and there [was] the hiding of his power.
C'est un éclat comme la lumière du soleil levant; des rayons partent de ses mains; là se cache sa puissance.
5 Before him went the pestilence, and burning coals went forth at his feet.
Devant lui marche la mortalité, et la fièvre brûlante est sur ses pas.
6 He stood, and measured the earth: he beheld, and drove asunder the nations; and the everlasting mountains were scattered, the perpetual hills did bow: his ways [are] everlasting.
Il s'est arrêté et a fait trembler la terre, il a regardé et a secoué les nations; les montagnes éternelles se sont brisées, les collines antiques se sont affaissées; il suit ses voies d'autrefois.
7 I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction: [and] the curtains of the land of Midian trembled.
J'ai vu dans la détresse les tentes de Cuschan; les pavillons de la terre de Moab frémissent.
8 Was the LORD displeased against the rivers? [was] thy anger against the rivers? [was] thy wrath against the sea, that thou didst ride upon thy horses, [and] thy chariots of salvation?
Est-ce contre des fleuves que Yahweh s'est irrité? Ou bien est-ce contre les fleuves que s'enflamme ta colère; contre la mer que se déchaîne ta fureur, lorsque tu montes sur tes chevaux, sur tes chars de délivrance?
9 Thy bow was made quite naked, [according] to the oaths of the tribes, [even thy] word. (Selah) Thou didst cleave the earth with rivers.
A nu ton arc se découvre; tes traits sont les serments que tu as prononcés (Séla). En torrents tu fends la terre.
10 The mountains saw thee, [and] they trembled: the overflowing of the water passed by: the deep uttered his voice, [and] lifted up his hands on high.
Les montagnes t'ont vu et tremblent; une trombe d'eau a passé; l'abîme a fait entendre sa voix, il tend ses mains en haut.
11 The sun [and] moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of thy arrows they went, [and] at the shining of thy glittering spear.
Le soleil et la lune sont restés dans leur demeure; on marche à la clarté de tes flèches à la lueur des éclairs de ta lance.
12 Thou didst march through the land in indignation, thou didst thresh the heathen in anger.
Tu parcours la terre avec fureur, tu foules les nations avec colère.
13 Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, [even] for salvation with thy anointed; thou woundedst the head out of the house of the wicked, by uncovering the foundation to the neck. (Selah)
Tu es sorti pour la délivrance de ton peuple; pour la délivrance de ton Oint; tu as brisé le faîte de la maison du méchant, mettant à nu les fondements jusqu'en bas (Séla).
14 Thou didst strike through with his staffs the head of his villages: they came out as a whirlwind to scatter me: their rejoicing [was] as to devour the poor secretly.
Tu as percé de ses propres traits le chef de ses bandes, qui se précipitaient pour me disperser, en poussant des cris de joie, comme s'ils allaient dévorer le malheureux dans leur repaire.
15 Thou didst walk through the sea with thy horses, [through] the mire of great waters.
Tu foules la mer sous les pieds de tes chevaux, l'amas des grandes eaux.
16 When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice: rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he cometh up to the people, he will invade them with his troops.
J'ai entendu, et mes entrailles se sont émues; à cette voix mes lèvres frémissent, la carie entre dans mes os, mes genoux tremblent sous moi, de ce que je dois attendre en repos le jour de détresse; où l'ennemi montera contre un peuple pour l'opprimer.
17 Although the fig-tree shall not blossom, neither [shall] fruit [be] in the vines; the labor of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no food; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and [there shall be] no herd in the stalls:
Car alors le figuier ne fleurira pas, il n'y aura rien à récolter dans les vignes; le fruit de l'olivier manquera, et les champs ne donneront pas de nourriture; la brebis disparaîtra de la bergerie, et il n'y aura plus de bœufs dans les étables.
18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
Et moi, je veux me réjouir en Yahweh, tressaillir de joie dans le Dieu de mon salut.
19 The Lord GOD [is] my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' [feet], and he will make me to walk upon my high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.
Yahweh, le Seigneur, est ma force; il rend mes pieds pareils à ceux des biches, et me fait marcher sur mes lieux élevés. Au chef des chantres, sur mes instruments à cordes.
