Deuteronomy 29
1 These [are] the words of the covenant which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.
Estas são as palavras do concerto que o Senhor ordenou a Moysés na terra de Moab, que fizesse com os filhos de Israel, além do concerto que fizera com elles em Horeb.
2 And Moses called to all Israel, and said to them, Ye have seen all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land;
E chamou Moysés a todo o Israel, e disse-lhes: Tendes visto tudo quanto o Senhor fez na terra do Egypto, perante vossos olhos, a Pharaó, e a todos os seus servos, e a toda a sua terra:
3 The great temptations which thy eyes have seen, the signs, and those great miracles:
As grandes provas que os teus olhos teem visto, aquelles signaes e grandes maravilhas:
4 Yet the LORD hath not given you a heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, to this day.
Porém não vos tem dado o Senhor um coração para entender, nem olhos para ver, nem ouvidos para ouvir, até ao dia de hoje
5 And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes have not become old upon you, and thy shoe hath not become old upon thy foot.
E quarenta annos vos fiz andar pelo deserto: não se envelheceram sobre vós os vossos vestidos, e nem se envelheceu no teu pé o teu sapato.
6 Ye have not eaten bread, neither have ye drank wine or strong drink: that ye might know that I [am] the LORD your God.
Pão não comestes, e vinho e bebida forte não bebestes: para que soubesseis que eu sou o Senhor vosso Deus.
7 And when ye came to this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, came out against us to battle, and we smote them:
Vindo vós pois a este logar, Sehon, rei de Hesbon, e Og, rei de Basan, nos sairam ao encontro, á peleja, e nós os ferimos:
8 And we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh.
E tomámos a sua terra, e a démos por herança aos rubenitas, e aos gaditas, e á meia tribu dos manassitas.
9 Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.
Guardae pois as palavras d'este concerto, e fazei-as, para que prospereis em tudo quanto fizerdes.
10 Ye stand this day all of you before the LORD your God; your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, [with] all the men of Israel,
Vós todos estaes hoje perante o Senhor vosso Deus: os Cabeças de vossas tribus, vossos anciãos, e os vossos officiaes, todo o homem de Israel;
11 Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that [is] in thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood to the drawer of thy water:
Os vossos meninos, as vossas mulheres, e o estrangeiro que está no meio do teu arraial; desde o rachador da tua lenha até ao tirador da tua agua;
12 That thou shouldst enter into covenant with the LORD thy God, and into his oath, which the LORD thy God maketh with thee this day:
Para que entres no concerto do Senhor teu Deus, e no seu juramento que o Senhor teu Deus hoje faz comtigo;
13 That he may establish thee to-day for a people to himself, and [that] he may be to thee a God, as he hath said to thee, and as he hath sworn to thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
Para que hoje te confirme a si por povo, e elle te seja a ti por Deus, como te tem dito, e como jurou a teus paes, Abrahão, Isaac e Jacob.
14 Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;
E não sómente comvosco faço este concerto e este juramento,
15 But with [him] that standeth here with us this day before the LORD our God, and also with [him] that [is] not here with us this day:
Mas com aquelle que hoje está aqui em pé comnosco perante o Senhor nosso Deus, e com aquelle que hoje não está aqui comnosco.
16 (For ye know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came through the nations which ye passed by;
Porque vós sabeis como habitámos na terra do Egypto, e como passámos pelo meio das nações pelas quaes passastes;
17 And ye have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which [were] among them: )
E vistes as suas abominações, e os seus idolos, o pau e a pedra, a prata e o oiro que havia entre elles.
18 Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go [and] serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood;
Para que entre vós não haja homem, nem mulher, nem familia, nem tribu, cujo coração hoje se desvie do Senhor nosso Deus, para que vá servir aos deuses d'estas nações; para que entre vós não haja raiz que dê fel e absintho;
19 And it should come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he should bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of my heart, to add drunkenness to thirst:
E aconteça que, ouvindo as palavras d'esta maldição, se abençôe no seu coração, dizendo: Terei paz, ainda que ande conforme ao bom parecer do meu coração; para accrescentar á sêde a bebedice
20 The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven.
O Senhor não lhe quererá perdoar; mas então fumegará a ira do Senhor e o seu zelo sobre o tal homem, e toda a maldição escripta n'este livro jazerá sobre elle; e o Senhor apagará o seu nome de debaixo do céu.
21 And the LORD shall separate him to evil out of all the tribes of Israel according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law:
E o Senhor o separará para mal de todas as tribus de Israel, conforme a todas as maldições do concerto escripto no livro d'esta lei.
22 So that the generation to come of your children that shall arise after you, and the stranger that shall come from a distant land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which the LORD hath laid upon it;
Então dirá a geração vindoura, os vossos filhos, que se levantarem depois de vós, e o estranho que virá de terras remotas, vendo as pragas d'esta terra, e as suas doenças, com que o Senhor a terá affligido;
23 [And that] the whole land of it is brimstone, and salt, [and] burning, [that] it is not sown, nor doth it bear, nor doth any grass grow in it, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger and in his wrath:
E toda a sua terra abrazada com enxofre e sal, de sorte que não será semeada, e nada produzirá, nem n'ella crescerá herva alguma: assim como foi a destruição de Sodoma e de Gomorrha, de Adama e de Zeboim, que o Senhor destruiu na sua ira e no seu furor
24 Even all the nations shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus to this land? what [meaneth] the heat of this great anger?
E todas as nações dirão: Porque fez o Senhor assim com esta terra? qual foi a causa do furor d'esta tão grande ira
25 Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth from the land of Egypt:
Então se dirá: Porquanto deixaram o concerto do Senhor, o Deus de seus paes, que com elles tinha feito, quando os tirou do Egypto.
26 For they went and served other gods, and worshiped them, gods which they knew not, and which he had not given to them:
E elles foram-se, e serviram a outros deuses, e se inclinaram diante d'elles; deuses que os não conheceram, e nenhum dos quaes elle lhes tinha dado.
27 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book:
Pelo que a ira do Senhor se accendeu contra esta terra, para trazer sobre ella toda a maldição que está escripta n'este livro.
28 And the LORD rooted them out of their land in anger and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as [it is] this day.
E o Senhor os tirou da sua terra com ira, e com indignação, e com grande furor, e os lançou em outra terra, como n'este dia se vê
29 The secret [things belong] to the LORD our God: but those [things which are] revealed [belong] to us, and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.
As coisas encobertas são para o Senhor nosso Deus; porém as reveladas são para nós e para nossos filhos para sempre, para fazer todas as palavras d'esta lei
