2 Kings 5
1 Now Naaman, captain of the army of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honorable, because by him the LORD had given deliverance to Syria: he was also a mighty man in valor, [but he was] a leper.
Naaman, dowódca króla Syrii, był człowiekiem bardzo poważanym u swego pana i osobą czcigodną. Przez niego bowiem PAN dał wybawienie Syryjczykom. Był on także dzielnym wojownikiem, [ale] trędowatym.
2 And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman's wife.
Gdy pewnego razu Syryjczycy wyszli w gromadach, uprowadzili z ziemi Izraela małą dziewczynkę, a ona służyła żonie Naamana.
3 And she said to her mistress, I would that my lord [were] with the prophet that [is] in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy.
Powiedziała do swojej pani: O gdyby mój pan udał się do proroka, który jest w Samarii! Ten na pewno uzdrowiłby go z trądu.
4 And [one] went in, and told his lord, saying, Thus and thus said the maid that [is] of the land of Israel.
[Naaman] poszedł więc i oznajmił to swemu panu: Tak a tak powiedziała dziewczynka, która jest z ziemi Izraela.
5 And the king of Syria said, Come, go, and I will send a letter to the king of Israel. And he departed, and took with him ten talents of silver, and six thousand [pieces] of gold, and ten changes of raiment.
Na to król Syrii odpowiedział: Idź, jedź tam, a poślę list do króla Izraela. Wyruszył więc i wziął ze sobą dziesięć talentów srebra, sześć tysięcy [syklów] złota i dziesięć szat na zmianę.
6 And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, Now when this letter hath come to thee, behold, I have [with this] sent Naaman my servant to thee, that thou mayest recover him of his leprosy.
I przyniósł list do króla Izraela o następującej treści: Kiedy ten list do ciebie dojdzie, wiedz, że posyłam do ciebie Naamana, swego sługę, abyś go uzdrowił z trądu.
7 And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, [Am] I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth send to me to recover a man of his leprosy? wherefore consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me.
A gdy król Izraela przeczytał list, rozdarł swoje szaty i powiedział: Czy ja jestem Bogiem, abym mógł uśmiercać i ożywiać, że ten posyła do mnie, abym uzdrowił człowieka z trądu? Zauważcie, proszę, i zobaczcie, że szuka on zaczepki ze mną.
8 And it was [so], when Elisha the man of God had heard that the king of Israel had rent his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, Why hast thou rent thy clothes? let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel.
Kiedy Elizeusz, mąż Boży, usłyszał, że król Izraela rozdarł swoje szaty, posłał do króla wiadomość: Czemu rozdarłeś swoje szaty? Niech on przyjdzie do mnie, a dowie się, że jest prorok w Izraelu.
9 So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha.
Naaman przybył więc ze swymi końmi i swym rydwanem i stanął przed drzwiami domu Elizeusza.
10 And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean.
Elizeusz zaś wysłał do niego posłańca z tymi słowami: Idź i umyj się siedem razy w Jordanie, a twoje ciało powróci do [zdrowia] i będziesz czysty.
11 But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.
Lecz Naaman rozgniewał się i odszedł, mówiąc: Oto myślałem sobie, że na pewno wyjdzie, stanie [przy mnie], wezwie imienia PANA, swego Boga, poruszy swoją ręką nad miejscem [trądu] i uzdrowi trędowatego.
12 [Are] not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.
Czyż Abana i Parpar, rzeki Damaszku, nie są lepsze od wszystkich wód Izraela? Czy nie mógłbym się w nich obmyć i być czysty? Odwrócił się więc i odjechał w gniewie.
13 And his servants came near, and spoke to him, and said, My father, [if] the prophet had bid thee [do some] great thing, wouldst thou not have done [it]? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?
Lecz jego słudzy podeszli i powiedzieli do niego: Mój ojcze, gdyby ten prorok rozkazał ci [zrobić] coś wielkiego, czy byś tego nie uczynił? Tym bardziej gdy ci powiedział: Obmyj się, a będziesz czysty.
14 Then he went down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.
Poszedł więc i zanurzył się w Jordanie siedem razy, według słowa męża Bożego. I jego ciało stało się jak ciało małego dziecka, i został oczyszczony.
15 And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came and stood before him: and he said, Behold, now I know that [there is] no God in all the earth, but in Israel: now therefore, I pray thee, take a blessing from thy servant.
Potem wrócił do męża Bożego wraz z całym swoim orszakiem, a gdy przybył, stanął przed nim i powiedział: Oto teraz poznałem, że nie ma Boga na całej ziemi poza Izraelem. Przyjmij więc, proszę, dar od swego sługi.
16 But he said, [As] the LORD liveth, before whom I stand, I will receive none. And he urged him to take [it]; but he refused.
Lecz on powiedział: Jak żyje PAN, przed którego obliczem stoję, nic nie wezmę. [Tamten] nalegał na niego, aby wziął, ale odmówił.
17 And Naaman said, Shall there not then, I pray thee, be given to thy servant two mules burden of earth? for thy servant will henceforth offer neither burnt-offering nor sacrifice to other gods, but to the LORD.
Wtedy Naaman powiedział: Proszę więc, niech dadzą twemu słudze tyle ziemi, ile udźwignie para mułów. Twój sługa bowiem nie będzie już składał ani całopalenia, ani [innych] ofiar obcym bogom, tylko PANU.
18 In this thing the LORD pardon thy servant, [that] when my master goeth into the house of Rimmon to worship there, and he leaneth on my hand, and I bow myself in the house of Rimmon: when I bow down myself in the house of Rimmon, the LORD pardon thy servant in this thing.
[Jednak] w tej sprawie niech PAN przebaczy twemu słudze: gdy mój pan wchodzi do świątyni Rimmona, aby tam oddać pokłon, a opiera się na moim ramieniu, wtedy i ja kłaniam się w świątyni Rimmona. Gdy więc ja się kłaniam w świątyni Rimmona, niech PAN przebaczy twemu słudze w tej sprawie.
19 And he said to him, Go in peace. So he departed from him a little way.
Odpowiedział mu: Idź w pokoju. A gdy odjechał od niego kawałek drogi;
20 But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: but [as] the LORD liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat from him.
Gehazi, sługa Elizeusza, męża Bożego, powiedział: Oto mój pan oszczędził tego Naamana, Syryjczyka, nie przyjmując z jego rąk tego, co przywiózł. Jak żyje PAN, pobiegnę za nim i wezmę coś od niego.
21 So Gehazi followed after Naaman. And when Naaman saw [him] running after him, he lighted down from the chariot to meet him, and said, [Is] all well?
Gehazi więc pobiegł za Naamanem. Kiedy Naaman zobaczył, że biegnie za nim, zszedł z rydwanu i wyszedł mu naprzeciw, i zapytał: Czy [wszystko] jest dobrze?
22 And he said, All [is] well. My master hath sent me, saying, Behold, even now there have come to me from mount Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets: give them, I pray thee, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments.
Odpowiedział: Dobrze. Mój pan posłał mnie, abym ci powiedział: Oto dopiero teraz przyszli do mnie dwaj młodzieńcy z góry Efraim spośród synów proroków. Daj im, proszę, talent srebra i dwie szaty na zmianę.
23 And Naaman said, Be content, take two talents. And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and laid [them] upon two of his servants; and they bore [them] before him.
Naaman odpowiedział: Racz wziąć dwa talenty. Nalegał na niego i zawiązał dwa talenty srebra w dwóch workach oraz dwie szaty na zmianę, i włożył na dwóch jego sług, którzy [je] nieśli przed nim.
24 And when he came to the tower, he took [them] from their hand, and bestowed [them] in the house: and he let the men go, and they departed.
A gdy przyszedł do twierdzy, wziął [to] z ich rąk i złożył w domu. Potem odprawił mężczyzn, a oni odeszli.
25 But he went in, and stood before his master: and Elisha said to him, Whence [comest thou] Gehazi? and he said, Thy servant went no whither.
Sam zaś wszedł i stanął przed swoim panem. Elizeusz zapytał go: Skąd [wracasz], Gehazi? Odpowiedział: Twój sługa nigdzie nie chodził.
26 And he said to him, Went not my heart [with thee], when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? [Is it] a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and olive-yards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and men-servants, and maid-servants?
Lecz powiedział mu: Czy moje serce nie szło [z tobą], kiedy tamten człowiek odwrócił się na swym rydwanie na twoje spotkanie? Czy to był czas przyjmowania srebra, przyjmowania szat, sadów oliwnych, winnic, owiec, wołów, sług i służących?
27 The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave to thee, and to thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper [as white] as snow.
Dlatego też trąd Naamana przylgnie do ciebie i do twojego potomstwa na wieki. I wyszedł od niego trędowaty, [biały] jak śnieg.
