Proverbs 4

1 Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.

১আমার পুত্ররা, বাবার উপদেশ শোন, সুবিবেচনা বোঝবার জন্য মনোযোগ কর।

2 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.

২আমি তোমাদেরকে সুশিক্ষা দেব; তোমরা আমার শিক্ষা ত্যাগ কোরো না।

3 For I was my father’s son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.

৩কারণ আমিও নিজে আমার বাবার ছেলে ছিলাম, মায়ের চোখে শান্ত ও একমাত্র সন্তান ছিলাম।

4 He taught me also, and said to me, Let thy heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.

৪বাবা আমাকে শিক্ষা দিতেন, বলতেন, তোমার হৃদয়ে আমার কথা ধরে রাখ; আমার আদেশ সব পালন কর, জীবনযাপন কর;

5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.

৫প্রজ্ঞা ও সুবিবেচনা অর্জন কর, সুবিবেচনা অর্জন কর, ভুলো না; আমার মুখের কথা থেকে মুখ সরিয়ে নিও না।

6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.

৬প্রজ্ঞাকে ছেড়ো না, সে তোমাকে রক্ষা করবে; তাকে প্রেম কর, সে তোমাকে নিরাপদে রাখবে।

7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

৭প্রজ্ঞাই প্রধান বিষয়, তুমি প্রজ্ঞা উপার্জন কর; সব খরচ দিয়ে সুবিবেচনা পেতে পারো।

8 Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.

৮তাকে যত্ন কর, সে তোমাকে উন্নত করবে, যখন তাকে গ্রহণ কর, সে তোমাকে সম্মান দেবে।

9 She shall give to thy head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.

৯সে তোমার মাথায় বিজয়ের মালা দেবে, সে একটি সুন্দর মুকুট তোমাকে দান করবে।

10 Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.

১০আমার পুত্র, শোনো, আমার কথায় মনোযোগ দাও, তাতে তোমার জীবনের আয়ু বৃদ্ধি হবে।

11 I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.

১১আমি তোমাকে প্রজ্ঞার পথ দেখিয়েছি, তোমাকে সরল পথে চালিয়েছি।

12 When thou goest, thy steps shall not be hindered; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.

১২তোমার চলার দিন বাধা পাবে না এবং যদি তুমি দৌড়াও, তোমার হোঁচট লাগবে না।

13 Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.

১৩উপদেশ ধরে রেখো, ছেড়ে দিও না, তা রক্ষা কর, কারণ তা তোমার জীবন।

14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.

১৪দুষ্টদের পথে যেও না, মন্দদের পথে যেও না,

15 Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.

১৫এড়িয়ে চল, তার কাছ দিয়ে যেও না; তা থেকে মুখ ঘুরিয়ে এগিয়ে যাও।

16 For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.

১৬কারণ খারাপ কাজ না করলে তাদের ঘুম হয় না, কাউকে হোঁচট না লাগালে তাদের ঘুম চলে যায়।

17 For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.

১৭কারণ তারা দুষ্টতার রুটি খায়, তারা অত্যাচারের আঙ্গুর রস পান করে।

18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more to the perfect day.

১৮কিন্তু ধার্ম্মিকদের পথ সকালের আলোর মত, যা দুপুর পর্যন্ত ধীরে ধীরে বাড়তে থাকে;

19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

১৯দুষ্টদের পথ অন্ধকারের মত; তারা কিসে হোঁচট খাবে, জানে না।

20 My son, attend to my words; incline thy ear to my sayings.

২০আমার পুত্র, আমার বাক্যে মনোযোগ দাও; আমার কথায় কান দাও।

21 Let them not depart from thy eyes; keep them in the midst of thy heart.

২১তারা তোমার চোখের বাইরে না যাক, তোমার হৃদয়ে তা রাখ।

22 For they are life to those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

২২কারণ যারা তা খোঁজে, তাদের পক্ষে তা জীবন, তা তাদের শরীরের স্বাস্থ্যস্বরূপ।

23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

২৩সব কিছুর থেকে তোমরা হৃদয় রক্ষা কর, কারণ তা থেকে জীবনের সঞ্চার হয়।

24 Put away from thee a perverse mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.

২৪মুখের কুটিলতা নিজে থেকে দূর কর, বিকৃত কথা নিজে থেকে দূর কর।

25 Let thy eyes look right on, and let thy eyelids look straight before thee.

২৫তোমার চোখের দৃষ্টি সরল হোক, তোমার সামনে তোমার দৃষ্টি নির্ধারণ কর।

26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.

২৬তোমার চলার পথ সমান কর, তোমার সমস্ত পথ নিরাপদ হোক।

27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.

২৭ডান দিকে কি বাম দিকে ফিরো না, খারাপ থেকে তোমার পা সরিয়ে নাও।
