Hebrews 8
1 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is seated on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
Sasa jambo ambalo tunasema ni hili: tunaye kuhani mkuu aliyekaa chini katika mkono wa kulia wa kiti cha enzi Mbinguni.
2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
Yeye ni mtumishi katika mahali patakatifu, hema la kweli ambalo Bwana ameliweka, siyo mtu yeyote wa kufa.
3 For every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices: therefore it is of necessity that this man should have somewhat also to offer.
Kwa maana kila kuhani mkuu huwekwa kutoa zawadi na dhabihu; kwa hiyo ni muhimu kuwa na kitu cha kutoa.
4 For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:
Sasa kama Kristo alikuwa juu ya nchi, yeye asingekuwa kuhani zaidi ya hapo. Kwa kuwa walikuwa tayari wale waliotoa vipawa kulingana na sheria.
5 Who serve to the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished by God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shown to thee in the mount.
Walihudumu kitu ambacho kilikuwa nakala na kivuli cha vitu vya mbinguni, sawa kama Musa alipoonywa na Mungu wakati alipotaka kujenga hema. “Ona,” Mungu akasema, “kwamba tengeneza kila kitu kulingana na muundo ulioonyeshwa juu ya mlima”.
6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
Lakini sasa Kristo amepokea huduma bora zaidi kwa sababu yeye pia ni mpatanishi wa agano zuri, ambalo limekwisha kuimarishwa kwa ahadi nzuri.
7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
Hivyo kama agano la kwanza lisingekuwa na makosa, ndipo hakungekuwa na haja kutafuta agano la pili.
8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
Kwa kuwa wakati Mungu alipogundua makosa kwa watu alisema, “Tazama, siku zinakuja, 'asema Bwana, 'wakati nitakapotengeneza agano jipya pamoja na nyumba ya Israeli, na nyumba ya Yuda.
9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
Halitakuwa kama agano nililofanya pamoja na baba zao siku ambayo niliwachukua kwa mkono kuwaongoza kutoka nchi ya Misri. Kwa kuwa hawakuendelea katika agano langu, nami sikuwajali tena,' asema Bwana.
10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
Kwa kuwa hili ndilo agano nitafanya kwa nyumba ya Israeli baada ya siku hizo,' asema Bwana. 'nitaweka sheria zangu mawazoni mwao, na nitaziandika mioyoni mwao. Nitakuwa Mungu wao, nao watakuwa watu wangu.
11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
Hawatafundishana kila mmoja na jirani yake, na kila mmoja na ndugu, yake, akisema, “Mjue Bwana,” hivyo wote watanijua mimi, kutoka mdogo hadi mkubwa wao.
12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
Hivyo nitaonyesha rehema kwa matendo yao yasiyo ya haki, na sizitazikumbuka dhambi zao tena.”
13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and groweth old is ready to vanish away.
Kwa kusema “Mpya,” amelifanya agano la kwanza kuwa kuukuu. Na hilo ambalo amelitangaza kuwa kuukuu liko tayari kutoweka.
