Deuteronomy 14

1 Ye are the children of the LORD your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.

১তোমরা নিজেদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর লোক; তোমরা মৃত লোকদের জন্য নিজেদের শরীর কাটবে না এবং মুখের কোনো অংশে কামাবে না।

2 For thou art an holy people to the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a special people to himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.

২কারণ তুমি ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর পবিত্র লোক; পৃথিবীতে অবস্থিত সমস্ত জাতির মধ্যে থেকে সদাপ্রভু নিজের অধিকারের লোক করার জন্যেই তোমাকেই বেছেছেন।

3 Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.

৩তুমি কোনো অশুচি জিনিস খাবে না।

4 These are the beasts which ye shall eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat,

৪এই সব পশু যা তুমি খেতে পার; গরু, মেষ এবং ছাগল,

5 The hart, and the roebuck, and the fallow deer, and the wild goat, and the pygarg, and the wild ox, and the chamois.

৫হরিণ, কৃষ্ণসার হরিণ এবং ছোট হরিণ, বনছাগল, বন্যগরু ও সাদালেজ বিশিষ্ট হরিণ এবং পাহাড়ি মেষ।

6 And every beast that parteth the hoof, and cleaveth the cleft into two claws, and cheweth the cud among the beasts, that ye shall eat.

৬আর পশুদের মধ্যে যত পশু সম্পূর্ণ দুই খণ্ড খুরবিশিষ্ট ও জাবর কাটে, সেই সকল তোমরা খেতে পার।

7 Nevertheless these ye shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the cloven hoof; the camel, and the hare, and the coney: for they chew the cud, but divide not the hoof; therefore they are unclean to you.

৭কিন্তু যারা জাবর কাটে, কিংবা দুই খণ্ড খুরবিশিষ্ট, তাদের মধ্যে এইগুলি খাবে না; উট, খরগোশ ও শাফন; কারণ তারা জাবর কাটে বটে, কিন্তু দুই খণ্ড খুরবিশিষ্ট না, তারা তোমাদের পক্ষে অশুচি;

8 And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, is unclean to you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcase.

৮আর শূকর দুই খণ্ড খুরবিশিষ্ট বটে, কিন্তু জাবর কাটে না, সে তোমাদের পক্ষে অশুচি; তোমরা তাদের মাংস খাবে না, তাদের মৃতদেহ ছোঁবেও না।

9 These ye shall eat of all that are in the waters: all that have fins and scales shall ye eat:

৯জলচর সকলের মধ্যে এই সব তোমাদের খাবার; যাদের পাখনা ও আঁশ আছে, তাদেরকে খেতে পার।

10 And whatever hath not fins and scales ye may not eat; it is unclean to you.

১০কিন্তু যাদের পাখনা ও আঁশ নেই, তাদেরকে খাবে না, তারা তোমাদের পক্ষে অশুচি।

11 Of all clean birds ye shall eat.

১১তোমরা সব ধরনের শুচি পাখি খেতে পার

12 But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray,

১২কিন্তু এগুলি খাবে না; ঈগল, শকুন, বক,

13 And the glede, and the kite, and the vulture after his kind,

১৩লাল চিল, কালো চিল ও নিজেদের জাতি অনুসারে সারস,

14 And every raven after his kind,

১৪আর নিজেদের জাতি অনুসারে সব ধরনের কাক,

15 And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind,

১৫আর উটপাখি, রাতের বাজপাখি, শঙ্খচিল ও নিজেদের জাতি অনুসারে বাজপাখি

16 The little owl, and the great owl, and the swan,

১৬এবং পেঁচা, বড় পেঁচা ও সাদা পেঁচা;

17 And the pelican, and the gier eagle, and the cormorant,

১৭বড় জলচর পাখি, শকুনী ও মাছরাঙ্গা,

18 And the stork, and the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat.

১৮এবং সারস ও নিজেদের জাতি অনুসারে বক, ঝুঁটিওয়ালা পাখি বিশেষ ও বাদুড়।

19 And every creeping thing that flieth is unclean to you: they shall not be eaten.

১৯আর ডানাবিশিষ্ট পোকা তোমাদের পক্ষে অশুচি; এ সব খাওয়ার উপযুক্ত না।

20 But of all clean fowls ye may eat.

২০তোমরা সমস্ত উড়ন্ত জিনিস খেতে পার।

21 Ye shall not eat of any thing that dieth of itself: thou shalt give it to the stranger that is in thy gates, that he may eat it; or thou mayest sell it to an alien: for thou art an holy people to the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not boil a kid in his mother’s milk.

২১তোমরা নিজে থেকে মারা যাওয়া কোনো প্রাণীর মাংস খাবে না; তোমার শহরের দরজার মাঝখানে কোনো বিদেশীকে খাওয়ার জন্যে তা দিতে পার, কিংবা বিজাতীয় লোকের কাছে বিক্রি করতে পার; কারণ তুমি নিজের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর পবিত্র লোক। তুমি বাচ্চা ছাগলকে তার মায়ের দুধে রান্না করবে না।

22 Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.

২২তুমি তোমার বীজ থেকে উৎপন্ন সব শস্যের, বছর বছর যা ক্ষেতে উৎপন্ন হয়, তার দশমাংশ আলাদা করে দেবে।

23 And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy grain, of thy wine, and of thy oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always.

২৩আর তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু নিজের নামের বসবাসের জন্যে যে জায়গা বাছবেন, সে জায়গায় তুমি নিজের শস্যের, আঙ্গুররসের ও তেলের দশমাংশ এবং গরু মেষপালের প্রথমজাতদেরকে তাঁর সামনে খাবে; এই ভাবে নিজের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুকে সবদিন ভয় করতে শিখবে।

24 And if the way is too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place is too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD thy God hath blessed thee:

২৪সেই যাত্রা যদি তোমার জন্যে অনেক দীর্ঘ হয়, তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু নিজের নাম স্থাপনের জন্যে যে জায়গা মনোনীত করবেন, তার দূরত্বের জন্য যদি তুমি নিজের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর আশীর্বাদে পাওয়া জিনিস সেখান থেকে নিয়ে যেতে না পার,

25 Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thy hand, and shalt go to the place which the LORD thy God shall choose:

২৫তবে সেই জিনিস টাকায় রূপান্তরিত করে সে টাকা বেঁধে হাতে নিয়ে নিজের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর মনোনীত জায়গায় যাবে।

26 And thou shalt bestow that money for whatever thy soul desireth, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thy household,

২৬পরে সেই টাকা দিয়ে তোমার মনের ইচ্ছায় গরু কি মেষ কি আঙ্গুর রস কি মদ, বা যে কোনো জিনিসে তোমার মনের ইচ্ছা হয়, তা কিনে নিয়ে সেই জায়গায় তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর সামনে খেয়ে সপরিবারে আনন্দ করবে।

27 And the Levite that is within thy gates; thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee.

২৭আর তোমার শহরের দরজার মাঝখানে লেবীয়কে ত্যাগ করবে না, কারণ তোমার সঙ্গে তার কোনো অংশ কি অধিকার নেই।

28 At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thy increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates:

২৮তৃতীয় বছরের শেষে তুমি সেই বছরে উৎপন্ন নিজের শস্যাদির যাবতীয় দশমাংশ বের করে এনে নিজের শহরের দরজার ভিতরে সঞ্চয় করে রাখবে;

29 And the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee, ) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, who are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thy hand which thou doest.

২৯তাতে তোমার সঙ্গে যার কোনো অংশ কি অধিকার নেই, সেই লেবীয় এবং বিদেশী, পিতৃহীন ও বিধবা, তোমার শহরের দরজার মধ্যে এই সব লোক এসে খেয়ে তৃপ্তি পাবে; এই ভাবে যেন তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তোমার হাতের সব কাজে তোমাকে আশীর্বাদ করেন।
